Pope Stops His Car To Bless Boy With Cerebral Palsy
Pope Francis saw a boy waiting to see him in a wheelchair and stopped his car to give him a blessing.
A weekend of emotional highs may have peaked on the tarmac of Philadelphia International Airport on Saturday when Pope Francis, who was about to zoom away in his black Fiat, abruptly stopped the car and got out.
The pope spotted a boy with cerebral palsy who had waited, in a wheelchair and purple rosary beads in hand, to see him.
Francis walked to 10-year-old Michael Keating, kissed him on the head and blessed him. Family members and onlookers erupted in tears.
“I feel so blessed,” Kristin Keating, the boy’s mother, told The Philadelphia Inquirer. “I couldn’t be happier.”
The Keatings were in attendance because Michael’s father, Chuck Keating, was leading the Bishop Shanahan High School Band, which was performing to greet the pope.

This is what a true man of God does, he gives love and turns away from hate and distrust.

But there’s no money in that.

I didn’t become an atheist over the course of 50+ years without serious contemplation, but I have to admit; I have common ground with this Pope.
Color me surprised!

I’ve been away from the RCC for decades….this is one Pope who walks the walk and he has many within his ranks who are beyond po’ed with him.
They want to continue lining their pockets, living the high life and having no regard for their “flocks” who are busting their asses to keep a roof above them and food on the table.
I am glad he’s on their backs and eschews the pomp and circumstance that has been been part of the Vatican’s pageantry for centuries.
I also believe if he were just an every day Joe Blow, he would still be this way….it’s in the fabric of his being to be a good person…and to truly be his brother’s and sister’s keeper…..don’t need religion for that.
Him being who he is, reminds me of Elvis Costello’s, What’s So Funny About Peace, Love and Understanding.
To me, that’s what his message is all about….peace, love and understanding.
Glad we both found common ground with Francisco.

There are actually a good number of decent and caring Christians. It’s very hard to see them what with all the loudmouth assholes yelling “Look at MEEE!! See how pious and righteous and superior I am~!!!!”

Don’t forget humble LOL!

i dont know weather to call it photo ops or this is what the pope is all about, If the boy recovers from his disability I would definitely credit the pope
AmethystTear September 27th, 2015 at 00:42
I like this pope. Definitely seems to be one who is for the people and while I’m not Catholic, I respect is willingness to champion the little guy.

Where was “god” when this kid got CP..
Why do we have to pray “gods will” away?

A weekend of emotional highs may have peaked on the tarmac of
Philadelphia International Airport on Saturday when Pope Francis, who
was about to zoom away in his black Fiat, abruptly cranked the steering wheel and stopped the car and
got out..
The Pope told his security detail not to worry, I am only going to kiss the forehead of a crippled child…
Seconds later, the Pope jumps behind the wheel of his Fiat, peels out, (burning rubber) and in a grand display of Papal fury, burns a donut in front of the faithful..
I expect in the near future the Pope will admit his Fiat Limo has Nitros injection…

And, as he drove away, the crowd heard him call out “Hasta luego, putas!”
I kid the good father.
fredoandme September 27th, 2015 at 08:06
so, the kid’s cured now, right?
bpollen September 27th, 2015 at 20:59
See where the article said that he was miraculously cured? Yeah, me neither.
fredoandme September 27th, 2015 at 22:08
a despicable photo op.
whatthe46 September 27th, 2015 at 22:23
pictures are being taken of him all the time. sometimes no matter what a person does, if you don’t like him you’ll find a reason to make something out of nothing.
fredoandme September 27th, 2015 at 23:57
something out of nothing? me? are you kidding? I’m the one saying that it actually was nothing. that the act accomplished, literally, nothing, other than keep the minions yammering.
as if. he went out of his way to be sure photos were taken. when he knew everyone would be looking. not very humble. at all. even.
the church isn’t going to go away but, frankly, that’s the one thing that has to happen, a miracle that the pope could perform in fact, for the good of all mankind. if he really cares more about us than his phony baloney job. old ways die hardest.

…
fredoandme September 28th, 2015 at 00:27
“i don’t ever remember anyone saying that if the pope lays hands on you, you will be healed, that he could perform some miracle.”
then what was up with that? oh. that scene with this child was a blatant photo op, meant to be seen and enlarged upon.
i don’t believe in god. blessings. yeah. the pope, one of the most privileged people on the face of the earth, who could and should wield his enormous influence to make a real difference, frequently makes harmless gestures that carry no more import than kissing a disabled child so he can be seen doing it. didn’t accomplish even diddly.
why don’t you let me worry about my panties; perhaps i enjoy it.
as i deny the holy spirit, the pope’s just some guy who got lucky.
whatthe46 September 28th, 2015 at 00:39
i don’t have a problem with whether or not you believe, that’s personal. i wouldn’t go to the pope for blessings as i prefer to pray in private and ask my GOD directly for blessings. i’m saying that i believe he is truly a good person and i don’t believe it was a photo op.
fredoandme September 28th, 2015 at 00:50
does it matter what you believe? being pope is just one long photo op. always has been. if it helps keep him in ermine…well. rather like the queen, i suppose.
i kind of like the queen, though. she’s spunky. and i think the pope should actually DO something of substance.
whatthe46 September 28th, 2015 at 00:55
well, what is something of substance is it that you require of the pope? and what is it of substance that you believe the queen of England is doing? this ought to be interesting.
fredoandme September 28th, 2015 at 08:53
i didn’t say the queen was DOING anything. just that I like her. the queen is merely a figurehead and has nice jewelry. i don’t think she longs for the old days of absolute rule. THAT looked like work. probably grinds her teeth a lot over her hillbilly family. that husband was probably always a handful.
i have quite a few suggestions about what the pope can do with the church’s wealth and influence. some of them aren’t pejorative. let’s talk instead about faith and how atheists, the real ones, remain sure that this, or any other successive pope will never, ever give it up and do the right thing. he’s not going to actually do anything anyway; he mostly spoots dodgy nonsense, says some obvious things, but then slips the real meat inside the subtext. if he accomplishes something, anything….well……let’s wait and see what that is.
the pope has now stated that he thinks kim davis has a human right to deny rights to others and that and her right to conscientiously object (which is NOT what she’s doing.) should be honored in legal structures. that’s right.
b. i. n. g. o.

whatthe46 September 28th, 2015 at 09:33
she doesn’t have the right however, to deny others their rights under the law. she can spout all the babble she wants.
fredoandme September 28th, 2015 at 09:40
well. you know that. i know that. the pope? not so much.
if reports can be relied upon, he appears to be very, very wrong on this and has possibly done some real damage.
whatthe46 September 28th, 2015 at 09:42
people were stupid before the pope spoke. they’ll stay stupid.
fredoandme September 28th, 2015 at 09:47
that’s true. but now the pope has thrown in with them. what’s up with that? you don’t find that revealing?
CandideThirtythree September 28th, 2015 at 10:00
I don’t believe in any gods either but I am a very good judge of character and Francis is a nice man. He is trying to do what he can to make things better, like what he did with Cuba. That is more than you or I are doing, it is more than we are capable of doing because we do not have that high profile platform that he has.
Besides, he jumped out to kiss that child because most people like kids and handicapped kids are heart magnets.
fredoandme September 28th, 2015 at 15:30
you have no idea what i’m doing and i’m willing to bet that what I do consistently has as much or more of a real impact with real issues. he jumped out of that car to be seen doing what he did. it’s all about his image, which is all he has.
fredoandme September 28th, 2015 at 00:42
I called the photo op despicable. and it was. a blatant act.
there is no god and, so, the pope is just some man. i saw someone who went out of the way to be seen doing something which didn’t really accomplish anything, and cost him nothing, which is the same with all of those things he does all of the time that you so admire.
empty gestures and photo ops. meaningless. in the long run. in the real world.
whatthe46 September 28th, 2015 at 00:52
if someone is going to consider themselves a christian, then at least be true to its meaning. and he is being true to it. outside of any picture with anyone, forget all about that, he does speak to what it means if you believe in it and that is love for all. something that phony “christians” can’t seem to do. i’m not sure what you mean by empty gestures. but, for what it’s worth, what may appear meaningless to you, is not for someone else. especially not for the parents of the disabled child.
fredoandme September 28th, 2015 at 09:30
meh. go ahead, worship him. it’s what he wants. might as well pray to the wizard of oz as well.
bpollen September 27th, 2015 at 22:38
And when did you discover that you could read the Pope’s mind? Because if you CAN’T, then you are talking out your ass without the slightest bit of evidence.
Tell us, are you Uri Geller reading minds and bending spoons (Oh, the power!) or are you making it up?
fredoandme September 27th, 2015 at 23:33
normally, I don’t give a rat’s ass what a pope does or doesn’t do. the perpetual popery of the last few days, though, can and will wear on ones senses. make one testy. surely, i can’t be the first you’ve encountered, and certainly i can’t be the worst. i make no apology.
what, tell me, was gained by this display? why? looks good, feels good to a frighteningly large number of people, sure, but does it erase the church behind him?
a despicable photo op.

my opinion is that your post is despicable bullsh*t.
fredoandme September 28th, 2015 at 00:11
oh. blow it out your asp.
i can’t wait for the next time the pope pops out for a photo op when he’s not busy doing nothing much anyway.
