Walker Dropping Out

Posted by | September 21, 2015 16:18 | Filed under: Politics

Looks like he’ll have to go back to trashing the state of Wisconsin:

Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin has concluded he no longer has a path to the Republican presidential nomination and plans to drop out of the 2016 campaign, according to three Republicans familiar with his decision, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Mr. Walker called a news conference in Madison at 6 p.m. Eastern time.

“The short answer is money,” said a supporter of Mr. Walker’s who was briefed on the decision. “He’s made a decision not to limp into Iowa.”

Mr. Walker’s intended withdrawal is a humiliating climb down for a Republican governor once seen as all but politically invincible. He started the year at the top of the polls but has seen his position gradually deteriorate, amid the rise of Donald J. Trump’s populist campaign and repeated missteps by Mr. Walker himself.

” “The short answer is money,” said a supporter of Mr. Walker’s who was briefed on the decision. ” — Looks like the Koch brothers have given up on Walker.

      About 14.

    • DogsRgoodpeople September 21st, 2015 at 17:51

The scary part is that one of those fifteen conceivably could be POTUS.

      • jasperjava September 21st, 2015 at 18:26

        Conceivably?

This is one time where the word “inconceivable” may be appropriate.

        • rig slip September 21st, 2015 at 20:04

I agree, the republicans have a pretty weak field this time round, they’ll be forced to settle with Jeb and pray they can win FL.

          • lorddevonshire September 21st, 2015 at 20:11

that’s what I don’t get, they field this many candidates and there’s probably only a handful of them who should be there.

            • rig slip September 21st, 2015 at 20:13

Well yea, if your hands got two fingers…:) Romney would have beat all these guys.

              • lorddevonshire September 21st, 2015 at 20:17

I don’t even know who Romney beat the last time. but this time around I’d trade: Christie, Paul, Walker, Palin, Huckabee and possibly Jindal in exchange for Romney.

                • rig slip September 21st, 2015 at 20:26

I think the republicans are gonna agree with you when this is all over, I know I do right now. Romney had the right stuff with being a Gov and his Healthcare bill, I’ll read the book when it comes out about why he dropped out early this time. Deck looks stacked for the Dems this time out, (electoral college wise)and Hill or Bernie should beat any of these guys come Nov.

                  • tracey marie September 21st, 2015 at 20:28

Hillary just went up in the polls and beats everyone….but it is early

                    • rig slip September 21st, 2015 at 20:45

It sure is early, but I’d take that stuff about Hill seriously. She’s a political monster and has been down this road before, I don’t think she’ll be left at the altar twice. I like Sen Sanders but he’s gonna have to work.
Luck might be on Hill’s side this time what with all the “firsts” that have been happening. First Black Pres, first time a Con judge votes to favor the Health bill, first time Gay Marriage passes, maybe she could ride that first wave and be the first woman Pres, I’m just talking here.

                    • tracey marie September 21st, 2015 at 20:51

I get you. I am a Hillary fan and believe she will win.

                  • lorddevonshire September 21st, 2015 at 20:31

Jindal seems alright but he doesn’t stand a chance in hell in my opinion and the only thing that me and him seem to agree on is stuff to do with autism.

                    • rig slip September 21st, 2015 at 20:56

The autism bill is a plus but I don’t give Gov’s credit for doing what they’re supposed to do. I wrote him off early, he was sounding way too religious for me and his stance on PP is a step backwards. Poor women don’t have a lot of options now in La, what will they do if he kills the funding.

      • tracey marie September 21st, 2015 at 20:26

47% of floridians want jeb to drop out

        • whatthe46 September 21st, 2015 at 20:31

quite frankly, there’s no one in the GOP worth voting for, i’ll bet money it’ll be a low turn out at the polls where repigs votes are concerned. my neighbor didn’t vote in ’08 or ’12 because she didn’t like who was running for the repuking party (she’s repuke). i like that. they should all stay home.

        • rig slip September 21st, 2015 at 21:46

That might not be good news. Does that mean 53% of Fl voters want him to stay in ? Cause that could mean Fl going red this time round.
Hard to know what that 47% means without seeing the complete poll and the questions asked.
I can’t believe we’d ever put another Bush in office and especially this soon after his brother screwed the pooch so bad.

          • tracey marie September 21st, 2015 at 22:03

No, the majority are against him running, ambivelient because they knoe he will lose.

Did the Kochs ask for their money back?

    • allison1050 September 21st, 2015 at 16:49

If they didn’t they should. :o)

    • allison1050 September 21st, 2015 at 16:58

      They should.

    • jasperjava September 21st, 2015 at 18:25

The Kochs don’t seem like the type to “ask”.

Someone may soon be swimming with the fishes, wearing cement overshoes.

    • StoneyCurtisll September 21st, 2015 at 19:48

The Koch’s dont need to ask for their money back…
They got Billions and Billions more to pay for/buy their politicians.

      • LoisB September 21st, 2015 at 19:56

        True.

        • StoneyCurtisll September 21st, 2015 at 20:25

They have Billions x’s “free speech” than any of us have…
This is a flaw in the system that must be corrected.

On the other hand, that path to indictment is sure looking a whole lot more likely!

      • Robert Kennedy September 21st, 2015 at 19:45

Not really since the Supreme Court justice he appointed ordered all the evidence against him destroyed.

    • Robert Kennedy September 21st, 2015 at 19:44

He was actually at less than 1/2%. Big fall for the former front runner with tons of Koch money. Think they’ll want it back? ;o)

      • The Original Just Me September 21st, 2015 at 20:14

      • StoneyCurtisll September 21st, 2015 at 20:23

They just tried and failed to pass that “right to work” bullshit herein Missouri,(it passed but was vetoed by the GOV.) and despite a super majority republican state legislature here, they failed to muster an over-ride of the Gov. veto..

        • The Original Just Me September 21st, 2015 at 20:58

You folks are lucky. in Idaho it failed four times. They changed the vote counting machines to electronic and “WHA-LA ” , it passed.

  15. rig slip September 21st, 2015 at 19:59

I thought Rand Paul was gonna be next
They’ll all drop out until only Jeb is left. He’s the guy with the money and even though it looks like a crazy year, it’s still always about the money.(and endorsements)
Republicans will always field an establishment guy, they don’t want any new fangled stuff to spook the billionaire class away from throwing money their way

    • tracey marie September 21st, 2015 at 20:31

      Rubio will hang in there.

      • rig slip September 21st, 2015 at 20:50

If he can’t beat Jeb in FL the donors will dump him, they’ll figure he can’t win in Nov and without a big swing state like FL the republicans can’t get 270 votes.
He’s still too young/green and can come back in 2020. He didn’t make a total fool of himself in the debates.

        • tracey marie September 21st, 2015 at 20:57

48% want rubio to remain in the race.

    • Wee Mousie September 21st, 2015 at 22:07

The Donald can stay as long as he pleases. Of course, he’s a just a joke, but neither he nor his Teapublicans supporters seem to understand that.

      • rig slip September 21st, 2015 at 23:16

I don’t know Mousie, I think the Donald stays as long as he’s on top. If he starts slipping in the polls he’ll either become completely unhinged or exit claiming his business empire needs him and he just can’t take the pay cut. He’ll also be able to claim victory saying he could have beat _________if he had stayed in.
My take on him is he never expected to get this far and is as surprised as we are he’s still a thing. We’ll see.

  16. anothertoothpick September 21st, 2015 at 20:02

In the blink of an eye he turned Wisconsin into Mississippi.

They wenr from a progressive state to a third world tbagger state virtually over night.

    This could happen anywhere.

    • The Original Just Me September 21st, 2015 at 20:09

      It already has. Try Idaho.

    • StoneyCurtisll September 21st, 2015 at 20:18

And what better reason Not to allow him to run for/be president.

      • anothertoothpick September 21st, 2015 at 20:41

This is just an example as to how close they are getting to “taking their country back”.

And they will never stop trying. We have to fight our ssses off every single minute.

  17. The Original Just Me September 21st, 2015 at 20:07

    • StoneyCurtisll September 21st, 2015 at 20:16

But Walker was an early on favorite…
Koch money backed, leading in the Iowa polls…
Now he is just another GOP primary loser.
