Jindal: I’d Support Muslim Candidate Who Swears On Bible

Bobby Jindal would ask a Muslim to swear an oath, as long as that oath were sword on an Old or New Testament, but not one sworn on the book the Muslim actually uses to worship.

Jindal says in a statement today that he’ll back a Muslim candidate that 1) respects America’s Judeo-Christian values, and 2) would swear on the Bible.

Here’s the full statement:

This is a dumb game that the press is playing. It is an absurd hypothetical question. But let’s indulge the media for a moment and play their gotcha game.

If you can find me a Muslim candidate who is a Republican, who will fight hard to protect religious liberty, who will respect the Judeo-Christian heritage of America, who will be committed to destroying ISIS and radical Islam, who will condemn cultures that treat women as second class citizens and who will place their hand on the Bible and swear to uphold the Constitution, then yes, I will be happy to consider voting for him or her.

If you can’t, I’ll settle for voting for a Christian Governor from Louisiana.

    Teddy Roosevelt did not take his initial oath on the Bible. John Quincy Adams took his oath on a law book. The Constitution doesn’t require the oath to be taken on the Bible, in fact it doesn’t even mention it.
    This idiot has such a poor knowledge of the Constitution and American history, he is clearly not qualified to be President

    A Muslim swearing on the Bible would be the same thing as a Catholic swearing on the Koran. If it is not your religious book,then it holds no value to you. I want people to swear on what they hold dear, not what I hold dear, otherwise it is meaningless.

    If a Muslim swore on the bible, he wouldn’t be much of a Muslim now, would he? I don’t know why, but Bobby Jindal reminds me of Alfred E. Newman.
