Carson Campaign Makes False Claim About His Anti-Muslim Comment
Ben Carson’s campaign is now saying that the candidate just meant America isn’t ready for a Muslim president. However, that’s not what Carson said. Carson was clear that we should not have a Muslim president because, in his view, Islam isn’t consistent with our Constitution.
(Photo By Bill Clark/CQ Roll Call)Carson campaign spokesman Doug Watts said Carson will likely reach out to members of the Muslim community in wake of the comments but said the interview should be “watched or read carefully.”
“He did not say that a Muslim should be prevented from running, or barred from running in any way,” Watts said. “He [Carson] just doesn’t believe the American people are ready for that.”
Carson said Sunday in response to an interview question that “I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that.”
When asked if a candidate’s faith should matter to voters, Carson said, “I guess it depends on what that faith is. If it’s inconsistent with the values and principles of America, then of course it should matter.” When asked if he thought Islam is consistent with the Constitution, Carson said, “No, I don’t, I do not.”

That’s right. We should not have any president who holds a religion which is contrary to the values and faith of our founding fathers. Our founding fathers intended our leaders to be Christian and white…..Oh sh*t
Larry Schmitt September 21st, 2015 at 09:59
Damn, you mean I’m not white? When did that happen? Ladies and gentlemen, I present Clayton Bigsby.

I remember that episode. Laughed myself breathless.

Uh, Dr. Ben was presenting his own personal bigoted views, claiming that it would be wrong to have a Muslim POTUS.
Now he claims that he was only expressing what he believed to be the views of the American people.
In other words, his handlers are now unloading so much ‘spin’ that even Carson is feeling a tad dizzy.

Dr. Ben should realize that the same opinions where used against people with his skin color in this country not that long ago.

How dare you use his own words against him?

Then why did he say ” I can’t back a Muslim for President”, sounds like hate to me! What if that Muslim was a Republican, would you feel the same way then?
rg9rts September 21st, 2015 at 11:31
How about a catholic??? A Jew ?? Buddist?? Hindu??? ……..
Larry Schmitt September 21st, 2015 at 11:58
Or an atheist? Someone with the courage to not add “and god bless the United States of America” at the end of a speech. I’m fed up with that.
tracey marie September 21st, 2015 at 12:27
I am with you there, the hubris to believe if there is a god it would pick and chose who to bless from all it’s creations.
anothertoothpick September 21st, 2015 at 13:00
And knock off that prayer before each session. I cannot believe they get away with that.
We will never be able to get rid of religion, they just go hide in their basements and plot out their hate. But we can eliminate the dogma from our laws.
If they had it their way we would be back to Jim Crow discrimination.
Larry Schmitt September 21st, 2015 at 13:07
And they would figure out how to justify Jim Crow with the bible.

Maybe Carson should just let his spokes people do the interviews.
They seem to be better at lying.

But then he doesn’t get to show everyone how smart the brain surgeon is.

I’ve met my share of doctors of all kinds who were assholes. That meant they were assholes before they chose to be doctors.
Larry Schmitt September 21st, 2015 at 13:13
This is off topic, but since Carson is supposed to be a “doctor” and this is from my nephew the nurse, I thought it’s as good a place as any: https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xta1/v/t1.0-9/11995962_169950790010263_2819035657228493573_n.jpg?oh=11171976e876335ec7acab06e81e3cb2&oe=5660BA63

Totally stealing this. One sister a nurse for 41 years, my late sister a family nurse practitioner. My daughter in law a nurse and my son a former Army helicopter medic and now EMT studying to be a paramedic.

“He [Carson] just doesn’t believe the American people are ready for that.”
Oh, but we’re ready for a Christian fundamentalist whose going to overturn Roe v. Wade and gay marriage and start another crusade in the middle east? Sounds suspiciously like Sharia law to me.

so barry goldwater was right on the money ?
Larry Schmitt September 21st, 2015 at 14:33
It’s like he could see the future.
Foundryman September 21st, 2015 at 15:15
A scary thought but….Goldwater might be a democrat these days, Tbags would have thrown him out right along with Reagan.
Larry Schmitt September 21st, 2015 at 18:17
Except for his hawkish streak.
rig slip September 21st, 2015 at 20:34
I don’t know about a democrat, he’d probably be one of them Acela Republicans. He had problems shaking the Birchers back then too.

i think barry lowered the lifeboat and paddled as fast as he could from the republican party, he hasn’t been heard from since….

Free country but why would you want another Muslim as president after the damage the present Muslim in office has done.

Barry has been wearing that muslim prayer ring for a very long time (decades) and never bothered replacing it with a wedding band either… whose a good muslim? Barry is.
…zoom in on the picture’s rings (they are the same damned ring, then and now).
Barry makes sure to show off his muslim decoder ring to all his brotherhood friends (look at me, I am one of you… every chance he gets and the media does as their are told by their DNC handlers… print it its a wrap).
whatthe46 September 22nd, 2015 at 23:00
terrible photo shopping. aside from that, you’re just butthurt.
Soul Leister September 22nd, 2015 at 02:42
I for one can’t wait to see what the democrats put up next, in their episodic campaign du jour: “we haven’t had one of those yet”… instead of someone that can actually help the country… oh yeah, its gonna be Hildabeast, because “we haven’t had one of those yet” (which is how they are pitching her… oddly not as someone that can be trusted (because she is a well documented liar… absolutely no classified…um, make that nothing marked classified… um, make that nothing classified at the time… um, make that nothing SECRET (after confidential and topsecret had been found)… um, make that blah blah blah…

It is ironic that Ben Carson says “I won’t support anyone who wants Theocracy” with reference to Islam.
Carson said that “we do not put people at the leadership of our country whose faith might interfere with them carrying out the duties of the Constitution,” which he insisted applies to every faith, not just Islam. (http://www.mediaite.com/tv/ben-carson-clarifies-muslim-remarks-i-wont-support-anyone-who-wants-theocracy/)
The Seventh-day Adventist Church, of which Carson is a member, is a religious group that would put their “faith” above the Constitution. Thus Carson’s standard would disqualify himself from becoming president of the United States. (http://www.newsweek.com/ben-carson-seventh-day-adventist-374041)
The founder of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church: “The people of God will recognize human government as an ordinance of divine appointment and will teach obedience to it as a sacred duty within its legitimate sphere. But when its claims conflict with the claims of God, the word of God must be recognized as above all human legislation. ‘Thus saith the Lord’ is not to be set aside for Thus saith the church or the state. The crown of Christ is to be uplifted above the diadems of earthly potentates.” Ellen G White, Testimonies for the Church, vol 6, p 402.
