At a campaign appearance in New Hampshire yesterday evening, Donald Trump took a question from an “Obama’s a Muslim not an Amurrican training camps!!!1!” birther – and simultaneously punted and perpetuated the insanity:

Later that evening, a Trump campaign rep from Iowa made the matter even worse in an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” by feeding crazy conspiracy theories (skip to 3:28 for the set-up):

    Trump got his first look at the seriously deranged right wing, and it scared him. He realized that this meeting was getting extremely out of control.

    If you are in a room with right wing nuts and disagree with them, your life is in danger. He High tailed it out of there with his tail between his legs. You won’t see him in anymore of these kind of meetings.

      Can you imagine if we get a second birther 24/7 news moment? Then the other Republicans will have to embrace some of it, moving even farther right, and hurt their chances in the general. Let’s wait and see if Trump can pull it off. The Birthers will Rise Again, The South will Rise Again!

    This means nothing other than a boost in his numbers…these are the people Trump is courting and it’s working. Not a single person in the audience booed, and Trump made no attempt to set the record straight.
    This is the base of the republican party, why is that so hard to accept…???

      I listened to that woman from his campaign, and if she really does believe what she said, she has deliberately turned off her brain. No one with a working brain could say those things. It was painful to listen to.

    Last night’s blunder by Trump, along with his many other ignorant remarks, could add up to his “47% moments.” Every time he opens his mouth, which seems to be constantly, he spouts the word, “I” as if he could do it all, without congress or anyone else. If the media did not broadcast his every word, perhaps he would go away, as he craves the constant attention. We can only hope that he would go away and play in his many casinos. Why won’t the media cover Sanders, or Clinton, with that every ready microphone?
