School Board Chair On Facebook Post Attacking Muslims: I Only Shared It

Posted by | September 17, 2015 12:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Religion

Surely, when you share something on Facebook, it is never to endorse what you are sharing, but rather to rail against it. At least, that’s what a Virginia school board chair would like you to believe.

Christie New Craig, chairwoman for the Chesapeake School Board, shared a cartoon that features a cartoon character and the quote, “Muslims hate pork, beer, dogs, bikinis, Jesus, and freedom of speech. My questions is, what the hell do they come to America for?”

The post prompted the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a national Muslim civil rights group, to call for an investigation this week…

“I merely shared it. I did not make a comment, and I’m just shocked with everything going on in our country – police officers are losing their lives, people are homeless and people don’t have jobs – that a political cartoon would cause this much stir,” she told 10 On Your Side. “People have a right to like or not like anything.”

Actually she does NOT have the right to post discriminatory or bigoted comments, it is in her contract.

If she didn’t actually agree with it, she could have included comments to that effect when she shared it. The fact that she didn’t implies she agrees with it, especially after hearing what she had to say.

I do not know about it being in her contract, but she sure is a foolish, fat, pig.

Bigots don’t realize they are bigots…until it is pointed out to them…and even then…

I agree. Point it out to them and you’ll get an argument.

Another rocket scientist “educator” that has no clue how social media works

Maybe they need to build in an “are you sure” function whenever someone clicks “post.” Give them one last chance to take it back. Because it only has to be up there for a nanosecond for someone to save it, and it’s on the internet forever, even if you delete it. That’s what these people never get.

Translation: “Why are you calling me to account for my blind hatred? I didn’t write the cartoon!”
