Radio Host: Kagan, Ginsburg Should Have Recused Themselves Because They’re ‘Liberal Jews’

Posted by | September 13, 2015 08:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Religion

Iowa radio host Jan Mickelson believes Justices Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader Ginsburg should not have participated in the decision legalizing gay marriage because they’re “liberal Jews.”

MICKELSON:…The case to which I refer: Judge Roberts should have required two of the members of the Supreme Court to recuse themselves, Kagan and Ginsburg, because both of them had literally presided over same-gender weddings previous to the ruling. In any other kind of thing, if they– a vested emotional interest and a vested religious interest in their part, would have caused them to have been required to recuse themselves. If they had a monetary interest in the outcome of a court case, they would have been required to recuse themselves. In this case, they had a religious motivation for moving forward and conducting same-gender marriage: they are both liberal Jews. No, I’m not saying anything bad, this is a correct assessment of their world view.

I wonder if he said the same thing about Thomas’ wife Ginni…didn’t think so.

And since the official position of the Catholic church is against contraceptives or abortion, the Catholics on the court should recuse themselves from all cases dealing with contraception? That’s not how it works, idiot. You are not automatically responsible for the views held by whatever group you belong to. Otherwise we’d have only women voting on certain cases, only men on others. Christ, these people can be stupid. (That should not be construed as permission to be stupid)

    yawn O

  5. OldLefty September 13th, 2015 at 09:41

And Scalia, Alito, Roberts and Thomas should have recused THEMSELVES because THEY are conservative “Christians”???

What a petty and trivial comment.
That these people have radio shows demonstrates that we have become a very silly and unserious people.

This is one of the many problems in our country today…the media. Low intelligent fools like this get to say bigoted moronic things without the filter of being held responsible and corrected.

Functionally Illiterate RWNJ Vs reality: ‘They would have been required to recuse themselves. In this case, they had a religious motivation for moving forward and (blocking) same-gender marriage’ Recount minus Koch Bros Payola Klowns Alito, Scalia and Associate Justice Clarence Thomas!

So justices who are “liberal Jews” must recuse themselves, whereas justices with a strong, unabashed conservative bias do not need to do so because …

the same reason why George W. Bush could go on vacation 3 times as much as Barack Obama, but only Mr. Obama is criticized for his Presidential recreation.

      yeah because…. you got it….

      http://www.factcheck.org/2014/08/presidential-vacations/

deciding how to count these “vacation” days can create some confusion. CNN recently listed a count of 879 days for Bush and 150 for Obama, numbers that came from a Washington Post“Outlook” piece on “Five myths on presidential vacations.” (Myth No. 1: “Presidents get vacations.”) The 879 figure, it turns out, is from March 3, 2008, at which point Bush had spent that many days at the ranch and Camp David (but it doesn’t include days in Kennebunkport). The numbers are in a 2008 Washington Post piece and attributed to Knoller.

If readers want to make an apples-to-apples comparison, the best solution is to use Knoller’s figures as of August 8, cited above: Bush, 407; Obama, 125. But the numbers say more about how many days the presidents spent away from the White House than they do about how much time the presidents spent not working.

If the Jews should recuse themselves, so should the Christians.

The chief Justice can’t ORDER a judge to recuse themselves. It’s a matter of ethics.
