Trump’s Church: He’s ‘Not An Active Member’

Posted by | August 28, 2015 20:00 | Filed under: Politics Religion

In other words, as Anomaly points out, he’s lying about attending church.

“I am Presbyterian Protestant. I go to Marble Collegiate Church,” he told reporters in Greenville, South Carolina.

Trump told reporters he attends church “as often as I can…a lot.” It’s not true.

After Trump made his super-Christian announcement, the church released a statement to CNN.

“Donald Trump has had a longstanding history with Marble Collegiate Church, where his parents were for years active members and one of his children was baptized. However, as he indicates, he is a Presbyterian, and is not an active member of Marble,” the statement said.

“The church I was originally with was the First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, which is out in Queens,” Trump said. “I’ve just had great experiences at church, whether it is Sunday School or whatever it may be, but now I go to Marble Collegiate Church,” Trump said.

I can’t imagine that anyone believed he goes to church.

    • labman57 August 29th, 2015 at 13:22

It’s just additional evidence pointing at Trump’s weak attempt to pander to the Christian conservative crowd with his “my love of the Bible is HYUUUUUGE” B.S.

rumpster lied? Does today’s weekday end in “y”?

  3. jasperjava August 28th, 2015 at 20:28

Trump doesn’t need to go to church. He thinks he’s God. When he prays he talks to himself.

    • katkelly57 August 28th, 2015 at 20:34

      And answers himself too.

      • Larry Schmitt August 28th, 2015 at 20:47

But he doesn’t listen to himself any more than he listens to anyone else, so the answers he gives to himself don’t make any sense.

        • whatthe46 August 28th, 2015 at 21:07

now, that’s funny. and undoubtly true.

        • Tommie August 28th, 2015 at 22:09

With that ego, i think he wouldn’t endorse himself! Haha!

  4. katkelly57 August 28th, 2015 at 20:36

I’ve never heard anyone refer to them self as a Presbyterian Protestant.
And as for that church….he’s missing a few marbles and so is the church…check his pockets before he leaves pastor.

  5. Larry Schmitt August 28th, 2015 at 20:43

Another lie by tRump? Color me shocked.

  6. Chris August 28th, 2015 at 20:50

Funny how a favorite subject amongst Republicans was how often Obama goes to church.

Funny how they don’t demand the same of Trump.

    Real funny.

    • Larry Schmitt August 28th, 2015 at 20:53

And I will feel a lot better about this country when no one asks any candidate for any office about his religion, and when politicians stop with the phony “God bless the United States of America.” They’re pandering. Everyone does it, even Obama, because he thinks he has to. This country will finally be free of that BS when a Muslim or an atheist can get elected. Hell, when one can even mount a serious campaign. But I’m not holding my breath, because I know it won’t happen in my lifetime.

      • whatthe46 August 28th, 2015 at 21:06

remember the 100+ yr old black female vet who recently passed? well, how much you want to bet that she said the same thing. “i will never see a black man elected into the presidency in my lifetime.” well, she did. so, you never know.

        • Larry Schmitt August 28th, 2015 at 21:08

But those same people who voted for a black president would never vote for an atheist.

          • whatthe46 August 28th, 2015 at 21:25

i don’t know. i’ve never had the chance to ask. (just kidding) i know where you’re coming from . but, look how far we’ve gotten. and the right (wrong) tried unmercifully to make people believe Obama was a muslim. that and he was black didn’t sway people from electing him twice because the man is smart and he was the best choice. i think it will happen that an atheist can become President because people are sick and tired of these faux religion freaks.

            I will!

        • Tommie August 28th, 2015 at 22:12

I bet she did say or thought that, nice!

      • Tommie August 28th, 2015 at 22:11

According to the right we already elected a Muslim!

      • Dwendt44 August 29th, 2015 at 13:11

We started out in pretty good shape. Our first five presidents were NOT christians. Neither was Lincoln.
Some called Thomas Jefferson an Atheists; no one knows for sure.

        • Larry Schmitt August 29th, 2015 at 13:43

And yet the radical right “Christians” continue to insist it was founded as a Christian nation. With absolutely no evidence.

          • LoisB August 29th, 2015 at 14:57

Not only with absolutely no evidence but despite all evidence to the contrary.

            • Larry Schmitt August 29th, 2015 at 15:04

They would watch Betty Bowers videos and think they were documentaries.

    • whatthe46 August 28th, 2015 at 21:05

      and really expected.

  7. Tommie August 28th, 2015 at 22:18

Him going to a church in Jamaica, Queens in New York is very hard to believe after what he has done and said about Blacks! Must have been real early in the morning with guards, or he sneaked in the church or maybe when that area was mostly white! IMHO!

    • Dwendt44 August 29th, 2015 at 13:07

Does watching services on TV count as attending church?

  8. Guy Lauten August 28th, 2015 at 23:58

I wonder if the Grand Wizard has spent enough time in church to hear the phrase “the eye of a needle”? I wonder if he knows what verse it comes from (Matt 19:24), and what that verse means?

This is certainly rich coming from these 2 especially since they both are members of the Church of Birthers with The Dump as pastor.

  12. labman57 August 29th, 2015 at 11:09

Well obviously Donald stopped attending because he had determined that the church leadership was “weak and not very talented” and the congregants were all “losers”.

  13. DogsRgoodpeople August 29th, 2015 at 13:43

Trump and church in the same sentence got a chuckle out of me.

    • Larry Schmitt August 29th, 2015 at 13:46

Why do these phonies think they can fool people with obviously phony statements? This has as much veracity as Bill Clinton’s “I didn’t inhale.” Why couldn’t he have just said, “Yes I smoked it a few times when I was younger, like most young people did back then, but I don’t any more.” He would have been a lot better off telling the truth from the beginning. Why can’t these politicians understand that?
