Ben Carson Did Research On Aborted Fetal Tissue
2016 GOP Presidential contender Dr. Ben Carson, who has been a vocal critic of a woman’s right to choose, now has questions to answer regarding his own actions.
Carson, who has repeatedly said that Planned Parenthood should be defunded because a tiny fraction of their services involve abortion, also did research on aborted fetal tissue while still a practicing neurosurgeon.
Dr. Jen Gunter, an OB-GYN and pain medicine physician, says Dr. Carson published a study with three other colleagues in 1992 that described using:

First of all a fetus is not a person until it can live on it’s own outside the womb.
BUT….when you repeat a lie enough times the republicans have convinced these nit wits otherwise. And amazingly they have won this argument.
The perfect example of a lie being repeat over and over becomes true.
What makes me mad is nobody is pushing back against this lie.
And furthermore, if I may, they are against tyranny but demand that the government force a woman to bring an unwanted fetus to birth.

Identity politics is a horrid trend in America. Today, people read a news site to be told how they should feel about an issue versus doing their own research. The polarization of the media has enabled this behavior as well.
I mentioned earlier here that I have degrees in Poly Sci and Am History. Yet, I’ll find myself debating the various effects of the Reconstruction Amendments with someone who can’t identify the 16th POTUS without a Google box. Think about that. Identity politics is ruining political discourse, original thought and eliminating compromise.
In my opinion, the criticism Obama receives is mislabeled as racism when it really is much more about stifling the opposing party. This is simple a continuation of the post Iraq War treatment of Bush.
Does racism exist? Of course. However, that dog whistle has been blown so many times that it loses it’s legitimacy each time it is used as a tactic. The ire shown by people here towards Dr Carson, and even myself, is the anger that is directed towards Obama and Bush. The only difference, it seems, is which side you’re screaming from.

I’ll once again say that the criticism directed toward Obama and Bush are the same in vitriol. The only difference is which side is saying it and what that speaker’s justification is in doing so. It’s convenient to now be slandered as racist due to the race of the POTUS this time around.
If you notice in these comments, the vitriol directed towards Carson isn’t considered racist, due to the perceptions and justifications of the speaker.
For an exercise, take out the word “Carson” and insert “Obama” in these comments. No chance these people would say the same the same thing about both men. That’s how you know it’s identity politics and not racism fueling the vitriol. Does this make sense?

There is no financial benefit for tissue donation for either the patient or for Planned Parenthood. In some instances, actual costs, such as the cost to transport tissue to leading research centers, are reimbursed, which is standard across the medical field.

Planned Parenthood is under attack — again.
This time, a campaign of misinformation about
the retrieval of fetal tissue used in research and
therapy is the excuse. When women have made
the decision to terminate a pregnancy, Planned
Parenthood allows them the opportunity to have
the fetal tissue that would otherwise be discarded
be used by qualified researchers to help
answer important medical questions. The organization
does so carefully, following all applicable
laws and ethical guidelines. In a Perspective
article now published in the Journal, Charo
presents compelling arguments defending these
uses of fetal tissue.1 Planned Parenthood, its
physicians, and the researchers who do this work
should be praised, not damned. The research is
not easy to do, but as Charo explains, it has benefited
millions of people worldwide. If the antichoice
forces were allowed to rule the day, these
advances would never have been made.
We strongly support Planned Parenthood not
only for its efforts to channel fetal tissue into
important medical research but also for its other
work as one of the country’s largest providers of
health care for women, especially poor women.
In 2013, the most recent year for which data are
available, Planned Parenthood provided services
to 2.7 million women, men, and young people
during 4.6 million health center visits. At least
60% of these patients benefited from public
health coverage programs such as the nation’s
family-planning program (Title X) and Medicaid.
At least 78% of these patients lived with incomes
at or below 150% of the federal poverty level.
Planned Parenthood’s services included nearly
400,000 Pap tests, nearly 500,000 breast examinations,
nearly 4.5 million tests for sexually
transmitted illnesses (including HIV), and treatments.
2,3 The contraception services that Planned
Parenthood delivers may be the single greatest
effort to prevent the unwanted pregnancies that
result in abortions.
It is shameful that a radical antichoice group
whose goal is the destruction of Planned Parenthood
continues to twist the facts to achieve its
ends. We thank the women who made the choice
to help improve the human condition through
their tissue donation; we applaud the people who
make this work possible and those who use
these materials to advance human health. We are
outraged by those who debase these women, this
work, and Planned Parenthood by distorting the
facts for political ends.

That makes no sense. Scientific research is potentially valuable, whether it’s performed by Dr. Carson or some other scientist obtaining fetal tissue from Planned Parenthood.
I’d be more inclined to think that the fetal tissue that PP sells will end up providing better scientific results, because I have serious doubts about Ben Carson’s sanity.
