Sandra Bland Died Over A Cigarette
The politically-charged death of activist Sandra Bland while in police custody took yet another disturbing turn when dashcam video of her arrest was released by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Bland was pulled over on July 10 for failing to signal a lane change, and the traffic stop escalated into a forcible arrest. On July 13, Bland was found dead in her cell at the Waller County Jail, allegedly hung by a plastic bag. Thanks to an aggressive social media campaign and the suspicions of her family, Bland’s death is now under investigation.
However the investigation of her death turns out, it is worth noting, from the start, that every suspicion people have about Sandra Bland’s alleged suicide is warranted. It was warranted when cellphone video emerged featuring the use of force during Sandra Bland’s arrest, it was warranted because she was a #BlackLivesMatter activist, and it was warranted because, as her family has pointed out, Sandra Bland was starting a new life and a new job.
With the release of this dashcam footage, all of those suspicions are amplified by the obvious discrepancies between Texas state trooper Brian Encinia’s arrest report and what happens in the video, and by the fact that the video itself was rather obviously and poorly edited.
Here’s the full video of Sandra Bland’s traffic stop…READ MORE

Spite
a malicious, usually petty, desire to harm, annoy, frustrate, or humiliate another person; bitter ill will; malice.

She was arrested for spite by the trooper and then he lied to his supervisor about arresting her for smoking. Who believes that she kicked him or kicked at him? I’m guessing not many.

The stop escalated to an arrest because he asked her to get out of the car, and he asked her to get out of the car because she had the nerve to ask why she had to put out a cigarette that she was smoking in her own car.
In his police report, and in the phone call he staged with a supervisor during the edited portions of the dashcam video, Encinia claims that he only asked Bland out of the car so she could “safely” sign the warning he was about to give her,

Some cops don’t like to be challenged. It’s one job that gives a small person complete control, and they don’t like it when someone fights back. I watched a few minutes of the video, and even at the beginning, when he asked her where she was going, he had no reason to ask her that. Why did he need to know where she was going?

You are absolutely correct!

When I was training a new saleperson in their territory, it was a young black man, educated and on the fast track to managment. We were in hempstead, the place were the sheriff was fired. The young man was driving, he changed lanes using his signal and we were pulled over. They made him get out of the car and started asking him what he was doing, why he was with a white women. I got out of the car and stated I was his boss and I was showing him his new territory, asked what he was stopped for. I was ordered back in the car and shut up or be subject to arrest. I did not comply, they were going to handcuff him, after i argued with them they said he changed lanes without siugnaling. I stood my ground and they let us leave….I changed the mans territory and made a complaint.

A clear case of DWB. It’s a damn shame that has to happen, and it’s a good thing he wasn’t alone.

He was so humiliated and angry, I was just angry!

Cops ask where you’re going to see if you pause, stammer or act guilty then they have a reason to search the car because the driver was being evasive and could be hiding something like drugs.
whatthe46 July 22nd, 2015 at 21:05
how about, i’m going about my mf’er business and it’s none of yours? if i say i’m going to the grocery store, should i then have to answer how much i intend to spend or what i intend to purchase. take your disgusting sorry ass and shove your sharia law up it side ways!! and no!!!! cops don’t have a right to search your car w/o a warrant or outright obvious reason. she was pulled over for “non signaling” not for any other reason. she was smoking a cigg in her car, her, private property, which she has every right to do so. give her a ticket and move the fk on! you are a hateful pos.
whatthe46 July 22nd, 2015 at 21:07
edit to say: she was pulled over for driving while black. MY BAD!
dewired4u July 22nd, 2015 at 23:42

How about, “it’s none of your business officer where I am going”…
“or where I came from”.

There’s been a big push these last 5 years or so to implement connectivity in cars:Facebook.Pandora, etc.
Why not a 360 degree camera, mounted on the cab’s ceiling, that constantly uploads video and audio to the driver’s account, along with software that indicates when the signal has been interrupted, and hard memory that takes a specific password AND use of hardware that can only be used by said owner to access?
(If you say “That would cost too much money”, Stoney, I will lose all respect for you…and that’s a lot of respect to lose.)
StoneyCurtisll July 24th, 2015 at 19:54
If that is what it takes to protect ourselves from over aggressive authoritative figures..
It should be offered as a free option on every new vehicle~!
dewired4u July 22nd, 2015 at 23:36
then they think you are hiding something.
illinoisboy1977 July 22nd, 2015 at 18:40
The officer had no cause to escalate the stop, by ordering her from the vehicle. He had no cause to remove her from the car. This was, at the very least, abuse of authority.
whatthe46 July 22nd, 2015 at 20:06
“This was, at the very least, abuse of authority.” well, skippy. she is dead!!!!
Hirightnow July 22nd, 2015 at 20:23
Now, now…”abuse of authority” is so much more ….”pleasant” a term. A nice “white” term.
Wouldn’t want to foment dissent, like those black rabble rousers do, would we?

i’m NOT laughing. i’m NOT smiling. i’m, i’m, i’m. (i’ve got nothing) lol
Hirightnow July 22nd, 2015 at 21:32
They say that sometimes, if you can’t cry, you have to laugh.
They never say what to do when neither one is enough.
whatthe46 July 22nd, 2015 at 22:10
i’ve done them both. i’ve cried because i was upset and i laughed becaue i have to laugh at the same time while being upset, either way, i can’t help it. should i be murdered? of course not. i guess in the eyes of the (choke) i’m fk’d. here’s some truth to a few of my situations. i was in my car, cheap ass piece of crap, (’87) had insurance and registured, it was smoking, (tail pipe) (exhaust) what do i know. in new orleans. pulled over and was told why, but not given a ticket, just asked for my phone number. (pissed me off to no end) if i committed in infraction, i’m ok with a ticket. (don’t get me wrong, i was, oh thank goodnes) but pissed at the same time. (and no, he did not get my phone number) another time, in new orleans, i was followed home, no sirens, just a cop who followed me home, and when i got out of my car, i was nice and big prego, he too left me alone after i stepped out of my car. in texas, ( i didn’t run a turn signal) it changed (trap signal by the way) pulled me over and was, really nice and gave me no warning or ticket. he was a white cop. another time in texas, yes, i was speeding my ass off to get back from houston to san antonio, at 1 am from the air port. white cop pulled me over. took my license, looked up my info, and let me go. that was after he ran my plates and license. i even asked him if he wanted my insurance card. he said no. i think, in my cases, with both the black cops and the white cops, it was the complection of my skin. lucky was i, yes. not happy about why this women was treated differently than me. just thankful, i’m here to comment. and sad she isn’t.

What everyone online seems to forget (IMHO) is that these officers are people.
I’ve been pulled over (twice in an hour) for being in a car that was the same style as a wanted suspect, and wasn’t told this until I couldn’t start my car again and was told this by the next officer, who wanted to know why I was sitting on the side of I-95. I’ve been pulled over for doing 85mph, on I-85. IN 1985, while I was in Attack squadron 85 (I kid you not!)…Trooper told me “Well, we do the speed limit here in Georgia. You slow it down, okay?”.
I’ve also been hassled for having a flat tire on 264 in Virginia, where the cop’s concern was more with a floodlight I had in my back seat than if there was a problem.(Sailors are an ethnic group, to some…)
Point is, a lot of these people see what they do as a job…one you couldn’t pay me enough to do. They take it in stride, and do their best.
But some take it too far, and think that the sun shines out their arse.
Which descriptions apply to just about any job a human can do…like clerk at a Safeway, or waiter at a rib joint.
The difference being, that guy at Sonny’s BBQ can’t shoot you for wanting extra garlic bread.
Wherein the problem lies.

I ask for nothing better. Sleep well.

Sandra Bland didn’t die over a Cigarette, she died because an over aggressive cop couldn’t just walk away from a black woman showing a little attitude..
The trooper couldn’t resist escalating the situation and demanding respect for his authority.
whatthe46 July 22nd, 2015 at 22:29
but, she had a cigg and that started his holy be the righteous of authority.
The Original Just Me July 22nd, 2015 at 22:56
He probably wanted more from her but after seeing the cigarette in her mouth, he got afraid of getting cancer down yonder.

The Peace officer (?) should be wrapped around a roll and hung on the restroom wall next to the toilet.
Tommie July 22nd, 2015 at 23:16
He knew he would not have to pay for the law suit, so he wanted to be on video also to let the others racist know, he knows how to play the game! It scares them when a minority knows their rights and ask questions! I wish these “Cops” would have to come out the pocket and they may act better!
rg9rts July 23rd, 2015 at 06:51
Gee just like Eric Garner… and choked too….
