Pentagon May Lift Transgender Ban

Posted by | July 13, 2015 19:00 | Filed under: Good News Politics

The Pentagon may announce this week lifting the ban on transgenders serving in the military.

Defense Secretary Ash Carter may personally make the announcement under pressure from the White House following the Supreme Court ruling on same sex marriage. The official said the White House has been pressing the Pentagon to move ahead to lift the ban, following the high court ruling but several top department officials have made the case time is needed to determine how several medical and legal issues will be dealt with…

Currently those in the military who are diagnosed with gender dysphoria or who identify as transgender, are not permitted to take hormones or act upon their transgender status by dressing in military uniforms or living in barracks different from their established government status.

Some of the issues Pentagon officials say they need to establish clear guidance on include: can massive hormone doses be taken in a warzone, when is a transition complete, what happens if a person decides not to go through full surgical transition, when does a person change uniforms, change barracks, what type of medical care is paid for.

right wingers, don’t even go there. just STFU and recognize that in terms of equality for transendered people, America is light years behind your favorite country.

Incidentally, it is a country that, love em or hate em, is second to none in terms of military readiness.

The Israel Defense Forces has decided to institute a new approach to dealing with transgender recruits by offering them extra support from the time they get their first draft notice at age 16 through their army service.

The new policy intends to make army service easier for transgender soldiers, regardless of whether they intend to undergo gender reassignment surgery, according to a report in Yedioth Ahronoth, which cites the army’s Bamahane magazine.

According to the report published Thursday, transgender soldiers have had to ask for assistance from commanding officers in order to get uniforms and housing for their preferred gender, as well as hormone treatments.

Good call..there should be no segregation between sexes…

males should be able to freely live in the female barracks and vice versa…

    • John Tarter July 13th, 2015 at 22:58

Unfortunately, the males will have to be predisposed to wear women’s clothing and vice versa. So don’t get too excited, it’s not what you think.

        No its called “gender equality”…

lesbians and gays get to live in the same rooms as the people they like to have sex with..then straight males and females should have the same oppurtunity..

Whats good for the goose is good for the gander…
