Pope: Capitalism Responsible For Global Injustice And Climate Change
Pope Francis continue his Latin American tour with a populist message.
Francis has renewed his left-leaning critiques on the inequalities of capitalism, describing it as an underlying cause of global injustice, and a prime cause of climate change. Francis escalated that line last week when he made a historic apology for the crimes of the Roman Catholic Church during the period of Spanish colonialism — even as he called for a global movement against a “new colonialism” rooted in an inequitable economic order.
The Argentine pope seemed to be asking for a social revolution.
“This is not theology as usual; this is him shouting from the mountaintop,” said Stephen F. Schneck, the director of the Institute for Policy Research and Catholic studies at Catholic University of America in Washington.

oh dear is right.
Terry "Death to Equality" Xu July 11th, 2015 at 20:21
He’s wrong on the first point – Economic inequality is the manifestation of justice unless you believe people are inherently equal
The point about climate change is right, but I doubt he has the right solution in mind
Climate problems need to be tackled from a scientific innovation standpoint, not a reduction of capitalism – the former is progressive while the latter is regressive
Hirightnow July 11th, 2015 at 21:40
Except that certain capitalists are doing everything they can to stifle scientific innovation, while going full-speed ahead with their version of capitalism.
Or are you going to tell us about those millionaire playboy scientists, laughing at us plebs for believing their cash-grab scheme of man-made climate change?
Terry "Death to Equality" Xu July 11th, 2015 at 22:42
eh, regulate them with state capitalism
AnthonyLook July 11th, 2015 at 22:05
Nah, your wrong and your mother was wrong for having you. The only thing regressive is your thinking and the only thing progressive is your mere existence here on Liberaland is for amusement as a comedy of erroneous pointlessness.
Terry "Death to Equality" Xu July 11th, 2015 at 22:13

AnthonyLook July 11th, 2015 at 23:06

You are an ever reminder of a brain process less traveled. Jester Terry you are our own personal fool, we know it, and you know it. Though you may fancy yourself “serious” do you honestly think anyone here takes you serious.

Jester Terry, I would never. Why Banning you, I don’t have anywhere near authority to do that and wouldn’t want to. You’re like our local clown car two the sequel republican candidate troll. Your “whipping into a frenzy need” serves our serious funny bone. Besides, you’re our Trump, our Romney, our Perry, our Santorum, our Jindhal- come on, you have to know your a serious joke on here. Your words serve our occasional visitors leaning towards us. You help others decide to vote against your warped ideals. (well, not just you but the plethora of you that write whipping frenzy stuff). You’re worth your weight in Palin. You’re the gift that keeps on giving. What you seemingly think you are accomplishing is actually the opposite of what happens. Why would we ban you Jester Terry.
Terry "Death to Equality" Xu July 11th, 2015 at 23:24
none of those politicians are nationalistic enough to compare to me
most leftist outlets ban me pretty quickly tho – i’ll count on you to stick up for me if any of your mods try
AnthonyLook July 11th, 2015 at 23:28
Jester Terry, There you go, you see how funny you are. “NATIONALISTIC”. You say that like a grandiose drag queen all proud and so third world. Now come on, don’t tell me you don’t see the humor (though we know you are oblivious to it when you write it). I have my list of right wing places that have banned me. Change of name oh wow, so effective. Anyways. Carry on Jester Terry

AnthonyLook July 12th, 2015 at 12:01
Jester Terry means well, he spews his delusions out of concern for his miserable existence. He has no real connection to other humans.

“The Argentine pope seemed to be asking for a social revolution.”
Damn right, and about time somebody did.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: The Pope’s a Commie!
AnthonyLook July 11th, 2015 at 22:02
He is making those American Republican Catholics get a taste of true Catholic dogma and they are not in line with scripture; so sayeth the Pope.

Capitalism has done more to lift the peoples of the world out of poverty and provided more benefits to the world at large than any economic system on earth.
Memo to Pope Francis: Stick to what you know best – the teachings of religious faith.
bpollen July 11th, 2015 at 23:58
Just love when the ignorant advise others to not express their opinions. He actually believes that his FAITH shows him injustice and his FAITH says he should act against it. Why do you fear his message so much? Your worldview that fragile?
John Tarter July 12th, 2015 at 01:20
No, my worldview is consistent to what works. Socialism is a dead end that works only for a few. Go look at the problems Greece now has. Pope Francis has always been a member of a socialist coummunity
bpollen July 12th, 2015 at 01:42
You know that tax breaks for corporations is socialism, right? And Greece doesn’t prove your point. It DOES show many countries in the EuroZone follow double standards when it comes to national debt – it’s OK for me, but not for thee.
Now, let’s see, which one of you is an actual scientist? Which of you two is the spiritual leader of 1.2 billion people? Which one of you comes to your conclusions based on and consistent with their faith? Which one is making claims about the political affiliations of groups that take a vow of poverty, chastity, and obedience (and value education) without providing actual substantiation? (If your definition of socialism is the belief that the oppressed should be liberated from oppression, which is the entire basis that people like your ideological brethren Beck & company, then you obviously are starting out with a bogus definition.)
You show your ignorance at the many many examples of socialism within our capitalist nation. But who would expect better from my little Liberté Frites.
John Tarter July 12th, 2015 at 01:55
And that is why we should end tax breaks for corporations. Let’s do the tax thing fairly – everyone pays the same percentage, okay? As for the many instances of socialism in our nation, I despise them. As I do all those who want socialism for the people, but not for themselves.
Face it, there will never be a person named Obama (or Clinton) who will have to line up for socialized healthcare or a pension. Nor will a person with such a name ever go to a socialized government school.
Nope, such a thing will never happen.
whatthe46 July 12th, 2015 at 02:09
“And that is why we should end tax breaks for corporations. Let’s do the tax thing fairly – everyone pays the same percentage, okay?” that’s the most fuk’d up sh!t yet that you’ve said. oh wait no it isn’t.
fahvel July 12th, 2015 at 02:32
starting now, live your life without usin in any way anything that might be a form of socialism, large or small, and call back next time – oops, no calling without socialism alomng with don’t drive ride walk etc – as said before just sit in your fox hole and watch the world go by.
bpollen July 12th, 2015 at 03:12
Tater goes out of the frying pan into the stupid. Yeah, flat tax! Why, that’s fair to everyone, right? You are an absolute Fox-zombie… And I actually know people named Clinton who get both Social Security and Medicare. They were a product of public schools. So I know you are a blowhard. But hey, you’ve never let facts get in your way when you come out in public and get yer stooooopid on.
jasperjava July 12th, 2015 at 03:19
“Let’s do the tax thing fairly – everyone pays the same percentage, okay?”
That’s the LEAST fair way to do the tax thing. What kind of moron do you have to be to think that it’s fair to have a flat tax? A working person on the edge of poverty would be taxed into the poorhouse, while the ultra-wealthy would pay a ridiculously small percentage of their income.
The flat tax has nothing to do with being “fair”. It’s all about making the robber barons pay even less of their fair share than they do now, while squeezing the blood out of the poor and middle class.
You’re just as much in favor of class struggle as any Marxist. The only difference is that you’re on the side of the oppressors rather than those who are struggling.
BigDumbWhiteGuy July 12th, 2015 at 13:00
Yes, me paying 15% of my $50,000 dollar income is totally going to have the same impact as someone paying 15% of a million dollars.
fahvel July 12th, 2015 at 02:30
greece has nopthing to do with socialism as a problem dummy and then you might want to look at all the countries that are somewhat socialist. – and ask why they people are happy and the economies are good. Leave your fox hole as see what is around your mini view of wherever the hell you sit in the usa.
William July 12th, 2015 at 02:57
and in the end he should know better.
His holiness has a science degree. A masters actually…
and you.
Live in a truck.
fahvel July 12th, 2015 at 02:28
ignorance is bliss- it has allowed a select few countries to rape and pillage the rest of the world so they can be immersed in stupid electronic square watches and fucking cars that park them selves while africa and india and south america scramble for leftovers – and wait until capitalisme eats china alive when it goes beyond all reason.
jasperjava July 12th, 2015 at 03:25
“Stick to what you know best – the teachings of religious faith.”
If you knew anything about the Gospels, you would know that Jesus was all about social justice.
Pope Francis is a Christian. You? Not so much.
Jerry Simon July 12th, 2015 at 10:24
Unregulated, Unchecked, Uncontrolled CAPITALISM Is OLIGARCHY~~~That Is What Is What We Have In America Now!

Surplus: Terrorized into Being Consumers (2003) Full
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXmuWecIQos
Fidel Castro Speech – May 1994
The consumer society has destroyed the environment.
Exterminated millions of species of plants and animals.
Poisoned the sea, rivers and lakes. Polluted the air.
Filled the atmosphere with carbon dioxide and other harmful gases.
Destroyed the ozone layer.
Exhausted our oil, gas and oil reserves and rich mineral resources.
Exterminated our forest and destroyed their own.
So what is left for us?
Underdevelopment, poverty, debt, uncertainty.
For the super developed societies, the problem is not growth, but distribution.
Not only among themselves, but among everybody.
Sustainable development is impossible without a fairer distribution among nations.
After all mankind is one great family, all sharing the same destiny.
Given today’s severe crisis we’re facing an even worse future,
that will never enable us to solve the economical,
social and ecological tragedy of a world more and more out of control.
Something must be done to save mankind.
A better world is possible.

White Lives Don't Matter July 13th, 2015 at 23:30
Funny how the same guy that gets slammed by the left for his positions on matters of religion, gets themto bow and genuflect when he spouts off about something he knows nothing of.
