Porter: My Prayers Can Overturn Gay Marriage

Posted by | July 8, 2015 19:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Religion

Janet Porter says her prayers got Bush elected, so they can overturn the Supreme Court decision on gay marriage. She must have forgotten to pray during the last two presidential elections.

…Porter, the right-wing conspiracy theorist and creator of the anti-gay film “Light Wins,” reveals today that her prayers reversed the results of the 2000 presidential election to ensure that President Bush was the victor in Florida.

Since her prayers got Bush elected president, Porter explains, her prayers can also reverse the recent Supreme Court ruling in favor of marriage equality.

Porter is urging Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine to demand that the Supreme Court rehear the marriage case, but this time without the presence of Justices Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whom Porter believes should have recused themselves because they had officiated at the weddings of same-sex couples.

“[I]f God can change the outcome of a presidential election,” Porter explains, “he can change the outcome of a Supreme Court ruling.”

I checked the MMJ menu and didn’t see any weed that causes those types of delusions.
However, I got a really good deal on some Ewok yesterday.

Hell no, she is nuts and I like to be high but not nuts.

So then why wasn’t she praying when marriage equality was being voted on? Or being heard in the Supreme Court the first time? Yeah, God doesn’t do that dear. Really, that was Bush’s little bro, you know …. Jeb.

Nothing fails like a Janet Porter prayer: My prayers ended ReaganBook in one day, and were bested by both 2014 & 2015 equal marriage SCOTUS decisions upholding the 10th and 14th Amendments!

    It’s simple:
When things happen that religious folks regard as favorable, well … it’s “God’s will”.
And when tragedy and misfortune impacts those who are supposed to be in God’s good favor … “the Lord works in mysterious ways.”

Religions are very good at rationalizing their irrational belief systems, which is why I make a distinction between religiosity and spirituality.

Another expert in nothing, with mysterious powers that only work when they say so. Sort of like Chris Crispy Fries claiming bridge ignorance or ex-pres. Shrub claiming victory or Huckabee diabetes cures or conservative presidential hopeful’s claiming to have rubbed two brain cells together.

<—plays Twilight Zone theme song. What a looney.

If her prayers are that powerful, why doesn’t she use them on something really important, like the drought? We’ll wait.

Thomas Jefferson sure knew what he was talking about.

If you’re an American citizen you have a civic responsibility to abide by the law, but if you’re an American citizen and religious you only need to obey those laws that don’t conflict with your religious beliefs. What a double standard!!!

OK this has been around for a while but I have to post it here…

Top ten signs you might be a right-wing religious nut job

10 – You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 – You feel insulted and “dehumanized” when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 – You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 – Your face turns purple when you hear of the “atrocities” attributed to Allah, but you don’t even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in “Exodus” and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in “Joshua” including women, children, and trees!

6 – You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 – You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 – You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs — though excluding those in all rival sects – will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most “tolerant” and “loving.”

3 – While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in “tongues” may be all the evidence you need to “prove” Christianity.

2 – You define 0.01% as a “high success rate” when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 – You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history – but still call yourself a Christian..

Pray to god to reverse your hatred for those who are not like you.

  12. jybarz July 9th, 2015 at 01:47

Holy SH!T, can she really do this?
I think she knows she’s talking BS… except the religious right wing nuts majority don’t.

if she has such Godly powers, why is she working ?

  13. fahvel July 9th, 2015 at 02:12

since she is responsible for the bush cheney disaster, she should be tried along with them for the same crimes against humanity.

  14. The Original Just Me July 9th, 2015 at 04:25

Maybe, just maybe, OUR prayers could change the outcome of her mothers next period after her date with Porter’s father.

  15. bpollen July 9th, 2015 at 05:00

F*ck praying for world peace, I’m praying to reverse the Supreme Court ruling!~!

    “Wackwackawackawacka…aahwhooooooooooooooooooo!”

  17. thinkingwomanmillstone July 9th, 2015 at 08:15

I suggest Ms. Porter erect an altar in her back room in her house and kneel before it and pray full time without a day off for the repeal of marriage equality. It would keep her off the airways and accomplish one thing…sparing the world from her bigotry. Praying is the only way to talk to yourself that society accepts. If you believe in any other magic beings and talk to them, you get medicated until you come to your senses.

    • cwazycajun July 9th, 2015 at 12:11

yeah have her get down on her knees’ for other reasons..put your hands together look up at the ceiling and talk to yourself..that ought to work out just fine for ya..oh by the way it wasnt prayers that put that inept and criminal piece of crap in the white house, it was a corrupted voteing process brought on by his brother in fla and a conservative supreme court… you and your invisible sky fairy had nothing to do with it

@alan< Start working at home with Google! It’s by-far thss best job I’ve had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6879 this – 8 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $220

So it’s not that her prayers influenced the way people voted, they changed the votes after the fact. More proof that instances of voter and election fraud originate on the right.
