Sex, Drugs, And High Finance
A Twitter superstar’s new book makes Jordan “The Wolf of Wall Street” Belfort look like a weenie by comparison:
Blue-chip banker John LeFevre, after spilling Wall Street’s secrets 140 characters at a time, is back with a whole book about his cocaine-fueled days as a master of the universe.
“Straight to Hell” is shocking and sordid — and so much fun.
LeFevre was still working on Wall Street when he tweeted snippets of outrageous conversations supposedly overheard in the elevator at Goldman Sachs. …
LeFevre bluntly sums up his approach: “No apologies, no f—s given.”
And why, you ask, will this be the juiciest must-have beach read of the summer? Here’s a sample of how the book starts:
When LeFevre was transferred to Hong Kong in 2004, he soon discovered it was fantasy island for lions of Wall Street looking to shed their expensive suits and get nasty.
The hedge fund manager responsible for introducing him to powerful clients first handed him a phone number, advising LeFevre it was a priority: “It’s Joe’s cell number. You’re going to need it.”
He was right. Joe was was a drug dealer so accommodating that he delivered directly to the office.
The manager — LeFevre calls him Dennis Lipton, but names in the book are changed for obvious reasons — next provided an address to meet with “Trainwreck at Vegas,” one of the firm’s best clients.
When LeFevre arrived there, Lipton’s pants were around his ankles and there were two naked women.
The next morning, a dazed LeFevre found receipts in his pants pockets indicating the night had cost the firm $2,700.
Hello, Hong Kong!
And that’s just the beginning – followed, naturally, by many, many “happy endings.”
“Straight to Hell” hits your local store July 14.
