“Dukes of Hazard” star and former Georgia congressman Ben Jones told me that removing the Confederate flag is a “cultural cleansing.”

COLMES: So what do you think is going on, why do you think this is happening now?

JONES: Well obviously you know I think it’s been planned for a long time it’s tragic that it’s being used in support of, I’m searching for the word, a pretext to this cultural cleansing that’s going on all Confederate flags are bad and all that stuff. Well, it’s a difference of opinion and I have a right to my opinion…

I spent my life working on these issues and you know I was elected to the Congress basically by the black population of DeKalb County. They know me and you know I say what I think, I’ve been there, you know, I’ve shed the blood I’ve done the work…

This is, this is cultural cleansing, it’s emotional hysterical overreaction to what’s happened, which was one deranged racist bastard, if you excuse the expression, one doped up loser nut, started the most evil act in my memory.

    This title would of been more accurate…The Confederate flag is an emblem of a part of American history that benefitted by committing a cultural cleansing.

    Oh hell yeah, it’s exactly the same as going to some village or town and killing everyone because they are a different color, religion, or nationality…how is it any different than loading people on trains and carting them off to a gas chamber…it’s the same as throwing people in ovens…

    Sounds pretty silly when you actually compare the horror of ethnic cleansing to banning a stupid flag that represents traitors and slavers.

    Is there no “edit” function for that typo in the headline? We already know the guy is an ignorant yobo. Suggesting that he doesn’t even know which term to misuse is overkill, as well as disappointing. I REALLY wanted him to have actually said “cleaning.”
