Chafee: Hillary Can’t Be Excused For Her Iraq Vote
Even though she said she was wrong and that she regrets voting for war in Iraq, Hillary Clinton should not be forgiven, says 2016 Democratic hopeful Lincoln Chafee. He also told me it’s time to bring Edward Snowden home and that he should not be prosecuted.
Click here for reuse options!COLMES: You’re the only Republican who voted against the Iraq war, to your credit. Hillary Clinton has apologized for that vote, said she was wrong. Do you get a second chance? Do you get a chance to say “I shouldn’t have done it, I’m sorry. In retrospect, in hindsight, I wouldn’t have made that vote?”
CHAFEE: This is too big. We just really finished with all the Vietnam-era veterans and so many of their issues, sad tragic issues. And then the fact that you trusted Bush and Cheney when they said they were going to have weapons of mass destruction. If you take those untrustworthy people at their word, how does that bode for future encounters? So those were a huge, huge mistake. And we were talking about the money and what we could better spend it on back here, it’s going to cost us six trillion dollars, it’s a six trillion dollar mistake. Never mind the 4,000 lives lost over a false premise to go in there. It’s too big a mistake to say “please forgive me.”…
COLMES: “Bring Edward Snowden home?” That’s a subject of great controversy isn’t it, no matter what side of the plate you’re on, in terms of whether or not he should be brought back to the United States. Should he be prosecuted, should he stand trial if he’s brought back?
CHAFEE: No, I would say no. He’s being prosecuted under the Espionage Act and maybe there’s some technical way that he’s eligible for that prosecution under that law, but he told the New York Times, he didn’t take what he knew to any foreign country. And the courts have ruled that what we were doing was illegal and he served two years in exile. I say bring him back and drop the charges.

And this is exactly why IMO Lincoln Chafee isn’t a serious contender. Russia and China have recently decoded millions of encrypted files that were leaked by Snowden, yet Chafee is saying don’t prosecute him? It’s the exact same BS that the Bushies used to defend Valerie Plame’s identity being leaked!
As for Hillary Clinton’s Iraq vote, she, like Chafee, were privy to the same intelligence that the Pentagon Inspector General said was manipulated. She admitted she made a mistake, and she was taken to task for it by then Senator Obama in the 2008 primaries. Can we please move on?

and now that china and russia have these millions of encrypted files, stuff kept from the american people who placed the deceiving bastards in power positions to begin with, how has the usa been affected by this horror of all horros?

All true. Besides, we excused Vice President Biden and Secretary of State Kerry for their votes, didn’t we? And both men have gone on to serve their country as honorable people.
I guess it’s just easier to slamdance on Hillary.
And to hell with Snowden. I’m tired of the lame excuses used for him (see below).

The majority of Congress was duped by Bush and the boys. Hillary isn’t the only one who didn’t think that a sitting president would lie us into a war. The intel that the White House ‘shared’ with the Senate was heavily ‘massaged’ with the opinions that cast doubt on the accuracy redacted or erased.

“but he told the New York Times, he didn’t take what he knew to any foreign country”
I call BS. He let Angela Merkel know that we were spying on her. She’s a foreign head of state, which makes her a viable target for intelligence gathering. Therefore, while he may not have “taken” the information to her, he released it in such a way that she was sure to be informed of it. That makes him worthy of prosecution, under the Espionage Act.

WEAK, FAIL. Speaks more to his inability to run a campaign, his narrow mindedness and his lack of being “presidential”.

I remember that vote very well and I have a hard time excusing it.
It struck me as compromising or even cowardly at the time.
But, at least she has repented. The conservatives would do it again.

Hillary is in the pocket of the same financial and defense lobbies as GWB and Obama
