Net neutrality has been a big issue in recent months, and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued new rules aimed at assuring all data is treated equally and to prevent Internet Service Providers (ISPs) from holding data speeds hostage.

But a study released by BattlefortheNet concludes that the major internet access providers in the nation–AT&T, Time Warner, Comcast, and Verizon–are indeed slowing down data in dozens of cities across the United States, which affects 75 percent of all internet users in the country.

I have a computer that not very fast and my server has me at a rather slow level, and my computer is often waiting for a site to respond.
As far as Alan (dot) com goes, it has been traditionally slow to load and respond to posts, etc..
The newer version is noticeably faster, so I can’t judge from my end.

I’m paying for 50mbps. If I test below that level, I’m right on the phone to Comcast. By now, I’m sure they expect to hear from me EVERY TIME my service slows down and I get consistent speed tests below my 50mbps. They tell me that it’s because I’m sharing bandwidth with my neighbors and we’re all on the net at the same time. I tell them that they obviously need to increase bandwidth capacity to my neighborhood. I wind up pissing off at least 2 customer service reps, every time. Screw ’em. They’re making record profits, by gouging the consumer. I don’t feel a bit bad about giving them a hard time, over crappy performance.
