Pope Calls On ‘All Humanity’ To Halt Global Warming

As expected Pope Francis has issued an encyclical on the environment, acknowledging human involvement in global warming and the need for urgency.

“Climate change is a global problem with grave implications: environmental, social, economic, political and for the distribution of goods,” the encyclical declares. “It represents one of the principal challenges facing humanity in our day. Its worst impact will probably be felt by developing countries in coming decades.”

The 184-page letter, in the works for more than a year, was sent to bishops around the world. But it was addressed to “all humanity,” not just the faith’s more than 1.2 billion Roman Catholics…

“We must now seize this narrow window of opportunity and embark on ambitious actions and policies to help protect people and the environment,” World Bank Group president Jim Yong Kim said in a statement. “This is an urgent, moral, and ethical task for all of us.”

Who will be the first troll to condemn the pope on these pages? Today’s modern “conservative” religion, dominated by fundie christianity, has no room for morality that interferes with unrestrained capitalism. Is there any conservative pol who isn’t choking on the Pope’s letter? It’s amazing to me how the so-called devout Catholics such as Santorum, Hannity, and Jeb quickly denounce the papal marxist when they think he’s after their wallets.

I’m sure one of the “experts” will be along any minute the completely dismiss the Pope and his statement.

This Pope sounds like a man with a brain. At least he doesn’t just walk around with his hands folded and mumbling in Latin. This Pope actually thinks about mankind and God judging mankind for the concern and maintenance of his planet.

The Pope’s call to action on this issue to all Catholics means they are now diametrically opposed to man-made-climate-change deniers (hey Inhofe, I’m lookin’ at YOU). These deniers are now engaged in a War on Catholicism. I wonder if ol’ Billo the Clown will talk to us about THAT war?
