I understand why Alan gives voice to Al Doflerson (sp?). It makes great radio.
But I wonder about the morality of giving hate-speech a forum.

Marcia McNutt, the editor-in-chief of the highly-respected journal Science has penned an article about climate change in which she states: “The time for debate has ended. Action is urgently needed.” She then proceeds to list numerous actions that she believes are advisable.
http://www.sciencemag.org/content/349/6243/7.full
This is a sad day for science and for the journal Science. Scientific journals have always been a politics-free zone. They are the one source that we can trust to provide objective, unbiased presentation of new scientific discoveries. McNutt has just betrayed that trust. How will readers of Science know in the future whether they are getting the full range of scientific findings on climate issues? And how will McNutt refute claims that Science is refusing to publish research that might undermine the case for warming?
It is interesting to note that, in a previous interview, McNutt stated the following:
“Everybody should be questioning,” says McNutt. “That’s a hallmark of a scientist.”
http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2015/03/science-doubters/achenbach-text
McNutt should retract her article, issue an apology, and resign her post so that the reputation of the journal Science as an objective, unbiased source of information can be maintained.

I’d find it helpful if you would kind of spell out your specific differences with Ms. McNutt’s call for action or her proposed approach(es) to this problem (if you see “climate change” as a problem) beyond feeling that it’s somehow “political.”
Robert M. Snyder July 8th, 2015 at 20:35
political: “of or relating to the government or the public affairs of a country”
That kind of discussion has no place in a scientific journal, unless political behavior itself is the subject of scientific inquiry. Whatever short-term good McNutt’s advocacy might have done for the cause of climate sustainability, the long-term damage to the journal’s credibility will be far greater if her statement is not promptly withdrawn and an apology issued. People trust scientific journals *because* they are free of politics. If articles like McNutt’s become commonplace in scientific journals, then the journals will have no more credibility than cable news channels. And that would be regrettable.

lol, climate change will destroy us and it is the right making it political and denying it exists.

Here’s a whitepaper published by the AAAS that might interest you. The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is the organization that publishes the journal Science. They are Marcia McNutt’s employer.

Baylor college in texas, the oldest college in texas and a religous private institution has lifted it’s bans and attacks on GLBT. They are now embracing what they called “god’s gift of sex/sexuality”. They still believe and promote sex is for married couples, but they no longer show hate and intolerance towards people. Good job, Baylor, welcome to the world of true tolerance and love.

I am just a little bit creeped out by the late(?) Col. Harlan Sanders’ miraculous (?) return from the hereafter.
Hirightnow July 9th, 2015 at 06:43
They need to disinter the original Harlan Sanders, strap magnets all over the body, and rebury him inside a bunch of copper wire coils.
They could power every KFC in the freakin’ world…

Jeb bush ; My aspiration for the country and I believe we can achieve it, is 4
percent growth as far as the eye can see. Which means we have to be a
lot more productive, workforce participation has to rise from its
all-time modern lows. It means that people need to work longer hours”
and, through their productivity, gain more income for their families.
That’s the only way we’re going to get out of this rut that we’re in.”

Funny, not a word here at LL about the biggest story of the week – the killing of the woman in San Francisco by the illegal alien. ? Here you have a complete failure of a cities sanctuary policy supported by just about every Democrat politician and it’s not good enough for discussion? What’s up with that?
bpollen July 10th, 2015 at 04:49
Huh… the BIGGEST STORY OF THE WEEK! Confederate flag coming down? Feh… FBI thwarted 4th of July terror attacks? Ho hum. Greece votes against austerity? Who cares. Ken Stabler dies? Who’s he? Medal of Honor winner get’s a proper burial with his comrades nearly 100 years after his death? Big whoop. Government extending benefits to all same-sex couples that hetero couples enjoy? Bleh. Stock Exchange goes tits up? (polishes nails on shirt.) Scientists discover one of the oldest horned dinosaurs? (sigh) Illegal alien kills woman? DEAR GOD, call the Joint Chiefs because we need MARTIAL LAW!
The only news you seem to think matters is one killing. What’s up with that?

The big story on Politico is the NYT not allowing the Ted Cruz book on their bestseller list, because most of the sales are bulk purchases. The commenters are all going crazy about the “liberal rag New York Times,” and one actually claimed it was owned by a pro-illegal immigration Mexican (Carlos Slim). I pointed out he owns only 16% of stock, but facts don’t mean anything to them. It’s worth a few laughs.
StoneyCurtisll July 10th, 2015 at 18:23
It’s a conspiracy~!
damn that liberal media…:)
Larry Schmitt July 10th, 2015 at 18:36
That’s exactly what they’re saying. It’s obvious none of those clowns commenting there have every read the Times. Or, most likely, any newspaper.
StoneyCurtisll July 10th, 2015 at 18:37
I”m asking myself…
Who would buy that book?…
Answer, Ted Cruz…:)
Larry Schmitt July 10th, 2015 at 18:40
It would be one of the most bought, and least read, books of the year.

As Sen. Sanders’ poll numbers slowly but surely improve, I came across this reminder of an old saying attributed to Mark Twain. I have not verified the authenticity.
“It is the radical who creates the ideas. Then when those ideas are worn out, the conservative adopts them”
In that context, I thought the Socialist Party platform from 1912 would be informative. Note the “radical” ideas which are now not only mainstream but accepted across the political spectrum in 2015.
Every single one of these ideas is now a bedrock of American culture.
Eight hour days, weekends, OSHA, child labor laws, minimum wage, and social security. All courtesy of those radical socialists of a century ago.
Socialism works.
http://sageamericanhistory.net/progressive/docs/SocialistPlat1912.htm
By shortening the work day in keeping with the increased productiveness of machinery.
By securing for every worker a rest period of not less than a day and a half in each week.
By securing a more effective inspection of workshops, factories and mines.
By the forbidding the employment of children under sixteen years of age.
By forbidding the interstate transportation of the products of child labor, of convict labor and of all uninspected factories and mines.
By establishing minimum wage scales.
By abolishing official charity and substituting a non-contributary system of old age pensions, a general system of insurance by the State of all its members against unemployment and invalidism and a system of compulsory insurance by employers of their workers, without cost to the latter, against industrial diseases, accidents and death.
