Are Christians Being Persecuted?
I put that question to Todd Starnes, who often thinks Christians are not getting a fair shake, as part of my “Alan Colmes Versus” series.

Not letting them set the rules for everybody is what they mean by ‘persecuted’.
whatthe46 June 11th, 2015 at 19:10

robert June 11th, 2015 at 12:10

The interview was a chat between two friends, all softball questions. Alan let him get away without answering half of em.
robert June 11th, 2015 at 22:11

So when conservative Christians try to push their beliefs into the constitution and public law it’s religious freedom, but when They get push back it’s “persecution”. Got it.
Bunya June 11th, 2015 at 13:31
Which begs the question, if 70.6% are Christian, who’s doing the persecuting? Bill Maher asked this question last week.
jasperjava June 11th, 2015 at 16:21
Bill Maker is persecuting them, of course.
fahvel June 11th, 2015 at 14:07
you make it seem like a bad thing to be unsaved trash.
Larry Schmitt June 11th, 2015 at 14:21
When I grew up catholic, they taught us everyone else was going to hell.
Bunya June 11th, 2015 at 15:00
I went to Catholic school. I was taught that Catholicism was the right religion and all other religions were evil – and that we should give generously at Sunday mass. I believed everything I was taught.
.
…And then I reached the age of reason.
Larry Schmitt June 11th, 2015 at 15:32
Exactly. The I usually word it now, I grew up catholic, then I grew up.
Dwendt44 June 12th, 2015 at 14:58
The Fundagelicals return the favor by sending missionaries to South and Central America to convert those foolish Catholics into “REAL” christians.
Larry Schmitt June 12th, 2015 at 16:55
That’s actually true. In a lot of those countries that were 90% + catholic, a considerable number have been converting to evangelical churches. Como se dice holy roller en espaƱol?
Hirightnow June 11th, 2015 at 13:18
No.
Liadan June 11th, 2015 at 13:24
I’m Christian. No one is preventing me from practicing my religion. I pray, wear a cross, go to church, do community work, live as a Christian. No impediments here.
But I also don’t try to force my beliefs on others. No tries to make me gay, I don’t try to make others hetero.
We have the freedom in America to live our lives as we chose, as long as we don’t interfere with the rights of others.
Dwendt44 June 11th, 2015 at 13:35
You’re never going to get a well funded radio program talking like that. :)
Liadan June 11th, 2015 at 13:37
Yeah. My cross to bear. ;-)
Merlin June 12th, 2015 at 13:23
The difference is you can take it. Most christians sure can dish it out. But they can take NO criticism. None.
Liadan June 15th, 2015 at 18:31
You need to meet more Christians. :-)
Merlin June 15th, 2015 at 19:40
My Mother was a Southern Baptist Preacher, I went to church every Sunday, Thursday and Saturday until I was 14. My Father was an Officer in the USSN, we changed duty stations every 6 Mos to 2years. I’ve been around the world 3 times lived in 7 foreign countries and 12 stated. I’ve forgotten more people than you could possibly meet in your life time.
You were saying…..about Christians?
Larry Schmitt June 11th, 2015 at 15:38
So what makes you so special, that you’re not persecuted like all the rest of the “Christians” in this country? Did you get some grade A super-premium brand of Christianity?
Hirightnow June 11th, 2015 at 17:25
“Christianity Premium”: no commercials.
Hirightnow June 11th, 2015 at 16:49
Come on…admit it: Spongebob and the Teletubbies made you question your relationship with the Almighty, didn’t it?
Liadan June 15th, 2015 at 18:34
:::Throwing Holy Water:::: Begone Spongebob! I thank God my daughter was too old for these, and that purple dinosaur, He Who Shall Not Be Named. ::I Love You, you love Me::: NOOO>
Roctuna June 11th, 2015 at 13:31
Up-votes all around. Today’s “christians” just don’t like being called out on their closed minds and society no longer defaults to their christian prejudices.
Larry Schmitt June 11th, 2015 at 13:53
Of course they’re being persecuted. The majority is always persecuted by minorities. Isn’t that how it works?
Hirightnow June 11th, 2015 at 16:47
Like how the Jews kept sticking it to Germany!
Larry Schmitt June 11th, 2015 at 17:15
Yes, just like that.
spacegod June 11th, 2015 at 19:18
Nice work, Alan.
Had Todd clutching his sweetbuns.
Merlin June 12th, 2015 at 13:20
I grew up in the southern religious system, they are simply so full of whine they don’t know what to do with themselves. And it is all a self delusion.
Bunya June 12th, 2015 at 13:38
That’s because they’re perpetual victims. If they don’t get their way, it’s easier to play the poor, maligned martyr.
Jeffrey Samuels June 12th, 2015 at 13:46
“If I discriminate or criticize you, it is religious freedom. If you return the favor, it is persecution” – Betty Bowers
Dwendt44 June 12th, 2015 at 14:55
Yeah, Betty. She’s one cool lady.
illinoisboy1977 June 12th, 2015 at 14:21
We’re all being persecuted by someone. Maybe everyone should just put on their grownup pants, man the f*ck up and quit crying about it.
crc3 June 12th, 2015 at 14:35
Christians have no monopoly on persecution. It’s an equal opportunity crime against all humanity…
AAASuperPatriot June 12th, 2015 at 23:43
I wish I was shocked by today’s caller claiming that Obama and Christians is like Hitler and the Jews.
There are more than a few conservative Christians who really thing they are being persecuted as bad as the Jews under Hitler.
It’s such an absurd belief that it’s hard for liberals to accept that it’s not an an act on their part.
But, I’m an Evangelical Christian, myself, and I can tell you that they sincerely believe this.
