I am right wing but have not acted in any manner to be disrespectful to the loss of the Biden’s son. Westboro is a cult and with every funeral they attend to spread their hatred, there should be a counter protest group to push them back.

I respect the fact that most Conservatives have given VP Biden respect during this awful time

      • jasperjava June 6th, 2015 at 18:25

        Ted Cruz excepted.
        But at least he apologized.

        • Anomaly 100 June 6th, 2015 at 20:00

After it hit the news he apologized. He walked away from the reporter when asked why he chose to tell Biden jokes on that particular day. He’s a total arsehole.

Thank you. It is wrong to say things like ‘He got what he deserved and the like’. No parent, spouse or child deserves to lose their loved one at such a young age like this. Very sad. I just had a childhood facebook friend about the same age as Biden’s son who died 2 weeks ago of the same thing.

it’s how my son passed. we found out in august of 08 and he passed in feb of 09. when i heard about biden’s son, my heart broke, but i couldn’t remark. not until now. my baby was 19, and just became a soph. in university. now, my other son is away in college and just turned 19. nothing funny about making jokes about anyone who has just lost a child.

          • Barbara Ann June 6th, 2015 at 21:12

I am very sorry for your loss, as a mother, I have no idea how one bears such a loss.

            • whatthe46 June 6th, 2015 at 21:37

I hope the coffee wasn’t really, really, really hot because that would be bad. (wink wink)

    • StoneyCurtisll June 6th, 2015 at 14:41

I was thinking of a different warm liquid i would have doused them with..;)

      • Anomaly 100 June 6th, 2015 at 14:46

And a substance as well. (Google: Rick Santorum to find out)

          No need to Google…

………………………………….especially if it had a booger in it…that would be bad

Regardless of how repugnant you find someone’s message, you don’t have the right to physically assault them. A civilized person doesn’t give in to violent urges, no matter how angry or offended they get. If they do, they are rightly subject to criminal charges.
That being said, I also don’t feel particularly bad for the Westboro church members who may have been scalded…

    • Larry Schmitt June 6th, 2015 at 14:51

I agree with that, but I don’t really consider throwing coffee at someone an assault. If someone threw coffee at me, I’d be pissed, but I wouldn’t press charges. Unless it was really hot. And it probably wasn’t.

    • burqa June 6th, 2015 at 15:29

      You are right.
I have thought about it and have concluded that if it were one of my family members and they showed up to protest, I would walk up there just pretty as you please and when I got in range I’d cold cock one of-em (it would have to be one of the guys).
I’d tell the judge I knew it was wrong and that I also knew I should act like i regretted it but that would be a lie and was ready to do the time.
Eff-it. You only live once and to go through life knowing I stood there and didn’t do anything while that was going on, no, sorry. I’m gonna bust knuckles on someone’s chin. I would only feel regret if I didn’t nail the sumbitch on the button and drop him.

  4. David Ish June 6th, 2015 at 14:34

I hope it was scalding hot.

  5. FatRat June 6th, 2015 at 14:45

Throwing the coffee was 100% wrong but a small part of me is thinking Alright Hamilton!

Wishful thinking on my part. lol

I’m posting from Judge Reinhold’s hometown – beautiful Fredericksburg, Va.!

      • Larry Schmitt June 6th, 2015 at 15:32

And I’m in George Washington’s hometown, Alexandria. Or at least that what they claim.

        • burqa June 6th, 2015 at 15:59

He was born out in the sticks in Westmoreland County. I’d consider that his home turf. He moved to Ferry Farm right across the river from here when he was a little kid. Grew up there, moved to Mount Vernon later. I don’t know if he lived in Alexandria or not. He spent a lot of time there, chasing womens. I know he was a vestryman at the Falls Church and one that’s in Alexandria.
His mama and brother Charles lived here, and so did his sister, Betty, who was married to Fielding Lewis., who I am directly descended from….

          • Larry Schmitt June 6th, 2015 at 16:05

Alexandria as it is now didn’t exist back then. During part of the 19th century it was part of Washington, and then was ceded back to Virginia. But the tourism board promotes the city as his hometown. Mount Vernon is actually in Fairfax County, a few miles south.

            • burqa June 6th, 2015 at 16:20

Yeah, I’ve aleays wondered if at one time they changed the names of streets named after royalty. They did that in F’burg and then changed them back.
I did some work there on an old house.
Mason lived down the road from Mt. Vernon at Gunston Hall. Just the other day I was reading about Pohick Church, at Ft. Belvoir. Mason and Washington disagreed as to which side of Pohick Creek it would be built on.
Monroe was also from Westmoreland and he lived here a while and you can visit his law office. The house is in private hands.
Madison was from Port Conway, just down the road in King George.

              • Larry Schmitt June 6th, 2015 at 16:23

Alexandria still has King and Queen and Prince and Princess and Duke Streets. None named after any actual royalty though. Unless you count Washington Street.

                • burqa June 6th, 2015 at 16:35

Isn’t there a Duke of Gloucester St.? For some reason that comes to mind.
I would have guessed they had some named after royalty.
Here we gots Sophia, Caroline, Princess Anne, Charles, William and Prince Edward in the oldest part of town, named for royals. Those were renamed after the Revolution and I think they weren’t changed back till the 50s, but that’s probably wrong.
Working on this old house in Alexandria, my boss kept coming by telling me I was working too fast and to slow down because he wanted to drag the job out. That didn’t sit well with me, but I was making a ridiculous amount of money and he was giving me 2-hour lunch breaks.

There’s a Duke of Gloucester St. in Williamsburg, but not here.

The Westboro Baptist Church has stepped to a new low.

  7. Bunya June 6th, 2015 at 16:04

if the WBC thinks the best way to endear others to Christianity is through bigotry and hatred, it’s their right to proselytize in this manner. It’s not very smart, IMO, but it’s their right. They’re like attention starved, spoiled children, who think the only way to garner recognition is to act like fools in front of the camera. I’m optimistic that, if the more intelligent among us ignore them, they’ll tire of their antics and move on.

Inciting violence, even something as small as tossing a paper cup in their direction, is never the answer. That only serves to prove they’re making headway, and their message is being heard, instead of falling on deaf ears..

    • Larry Schmitt June 6th, 2015 at 16:06

Their methods obviously aren’t working to gain members. Everyone in the “church” is a family member.

      • Bunya June 6th, 2015 at 16:40

This is true. Maybe they can’t find anybody outside their family who meets their low standards.

      • Mike June 6th, 2015 at 16:44

True, but they apparently get a couple million a year in donations from other nutjobs…I know, it’s crazy. It’s a long con if you ask me.

        • Larry Schmitt June 6th, 2015 at 16:48

Every church is a con. And they shouldn’t be considered charities, because most of them don’t do charitable work.

          • Bunya June 6th, 2015 at 19:28

True dat. L. Ron Hubbard’s dream was to start a successful business that would make him millions, but he didn’t want to pay production costs or employees, and he wanted his business to be tax exempt. His business is now known as the “Church of Scientology”.

      Waste of good coffee.
      They ain’t worth it.

Just like that mother who dragged her son out of the Baltimore riot. She was not standing by and watching him ruin his life.

  9. Suzanne McFly June 6th, 2015 at 17:25

I hope someone bailed him out and paid his fine. Small price to pay for a badly needed b!%*h slap.
