‘Christians’ Surround Mosque With Rifles At Prayer Time

Posted by | May 30, 2015 10:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Religion

Imagine for a moment if the following aggressive behavior happened outside of a Christian Church. Substitute the words “Christian” with “Muslim.” A totally not scary looking Anti-Muslim protestor Outside of a Phoenix mosque on Friday to interrupt prayer time, protesters gathered wearing “Fuck Islam” t-shirts gathered. The group’s organizer urged protesters to carry guns, and many…

So I have the obvious question: How quickly would the entire police force have been called out, along with the National Guard, and maybe even the Texas Guard (Phoenix is not that far away) if a bunch of Muslims had been anywhere near a church on Sunday morning with a slingshot?

    • thinkingwomanmillstone May 30th, 2015 at 19:36

Forget the slingshot…if they had been wearing a hijab, they’d have been shot because some cop said he was fearful for his life.

  2. Larry Schmitt May 30th, 2015 at 10:16

“…the Muslim religion is disrespectful and intolerant of others. They should convert to Christianity for love and compassion of others.” They just don’t see the irony in that statement.

    • BigDumbWhiteGuy May 30th, 2015 at 10:18

      That surprises you?

      • Larry Schmitt May 30th, 2015 at 10:20

Of course not, but sometimes the obvious has to be said.

    • alpacadaddy May 30th, 2015 at 11:31

That would require a modicum of intelligence and deductive reasoning ability which is notably absent in today’s return-to-the-dark-ages RWNJ crowd… WWJS? (Who Would Jesus Shoot?)

    • burqa May 31st, 2015 at 21:42

Good point. I see the same irony here from people who respond to hatred with more hatred. They would object to themselves were the targets to change.
The icing on the cake is when they call for consistency from the other side.

To be more specific, here the crowd rightly objects to hatred directed at Muslims but the crowd endorses the same hatred when directed at Christians and seems eager to target the Jews with the same hate, but is held back because hating Jews raises eyebrows in a way that hating Christians does not.
Eventually this will change and the crowd will find another group it considers appropriate to hate…..

  3. BigDumbWhiteGuy May 30th, 2015 at 10:18

I would urge every American of the Muslim faith to avail themselves of their 2nd Amendment rights. I’d be willing to bet good money that there are far more “Christians” in the US with a deep desire to eliminate Islam than the other way around. Further proof that right-wing nutjobs only support the Constitution when it serves their self-interests.

    • granpa.usthai May 31st, 2015 at 01:52

absolutely -and F the NRA mandated 2nd Amendment approved arms.

      GO WITH THE BIG BOY!

Constitution guarantees you that you can.

  4. William May 30th, 2015 at 10:41

The Muslim faith only represents a tiny fraction of the U.S. Population.
Why don’t these cowards get on a plane and take their message to a bigger audience?
    Like maybe Syria?

    • craig7120 May 30th, 2015 at 20:58

      Exactly!
Some people come to the United States so they may exercise their belief in peace, without fear of bigotry or intolerance. The anti-xtian goobers on display with weapons in hand in Arizona are performing anti-American actions.

    • burqa May 31st, 2015 at 21:32

To answer your question, wouldn’t it have been a hoot if someone had shown up with plane tickets to Syria aboard a chartered plane? Imagine there being a bus parked with its engine running, ready to take them to the airport…

A while back when changes were being made here, one of my suggestions was to ban pictures because many of them are just distractions or come from weak-thinking people who can’t, or won’t take the time to put their thoughts in words. If this were to be the policy here, I would argue for William to be exempted because of terrific posts like this one.
I swear man, you put up some really good stuff, consistently good, too.

  5. Budda May 30th, 2015 at 10:57

It shouldn’t amaze me anymore how many dumb (and therefore hateful) people there are in America.

    • fahvel May 30th, 2015 at 11:46

but it should make you very sad.

    • burqa May 31st, 2015 at 21:26

Yeah, we have some of them posting here.
There seems to be this notion that the way to respond to hatred is with more hatred.
The logic in play is we need more of the thing we don’t want.
These people would bail water into a sinking boat.

When fire is the problem the solution is not more fire. Fight fire with water.

Back in the 60s the hippies had it right.
There is a better way and that way is the one of peace and love.

We don’t need more hatred, we have too much of that already.
We don’t need more bigotry, we have too much of that already.
We don’t need more discrimination, we have too much of that already.
We don’t need more stereotypes, we have too much of that already.
We don’t need more anger, we have too much of that already.
We don’t need more name-calling, we have too much of that already.
We don’t need more division, we have too much of that already.
      – but these are the ways in which many respond to these things.

We need more love, we don’t have enough of that.
We need more forbearance and forgiveness, we don’t have enough of those.
We need more brotherhood and sisterhood, we don’t have enough of them.
We need more peace, we don’t have enough of that.
We will not have these things unless we set about to getting them, doing whatever we can in our little corner of the world.

  6. No way out May 30th, 2015 at 11:50

Tremendous buffoons. They should all be dragged to the hoosegow

  7. StoneyCurtisll May 30th, 2015 at 11:50

This is nothing more than a Klan/Neo-Nazi rally by another name…

  8. eyelashviper May 30th, 2015 at 12:51

Just imagine the flashbacks being experienced by the Muslims from this mosque, most of whom are refugees from Bosnia, where they had to escape persecution, torture and death at the hands of other bigots…

  9. labman57 May 30th, 2015 at 16:50

Yet another example of the Christian conservatives’ vision of “American Exceptionalism”.

    • whatthe46 May 30th, 2015 at 16:59

it’s an embarrassment to our country for certain. i wish i could have stood with the good people in support. this was so heartbreaking to see. very very disturbing and that won’t cut it.

  10. Darksnark May 30th, 2015 at 16:56

It’s pretty clear that the armed crackpots who showed up outside an Arizona mosque would love to see an America that more closely resembles a Mad Max movie.

Funniest thing is, most of them wouldn’t last a week in such a “paradise”….

    • whatthe46 May 30th, 2015 at 16:57

      you’re so right about that.

  11. KillAllTheRednecks . May 30th, 2015 at 19:06

I do not hate muslims. I just wish they were able to get the TRUE message of Islam out there instead of the hate-filled screeds that come from psychos like ISIS.

I am not a muslim. But why must I be forced to obey Islam’s demands as if I were one? What if a few years from now, muslims say they are offended that Americans are eating bacon? Will I be forced to stop eating bacon in the name of diversity too? If you submit to a religion’s demands, then you have been forced to convert against your will.

Why must the mere act of drawing a cartoon be grounds for death? If we condemn the WBC for their “God Hates Fags” bile, shouldn’t we also condemn those who call for the death of people who draw a cartoon?

Muslims have every right to live their own lives, but they have no right to impose their religion onto me.

    • jasperjava May 30th, 2015 at 19:19

Muslims are not imposing anything on you. This is a story about armed thugs intimidating peaceful Muslims.

Way to blame the victims, there. Next you’re going to tell us how the Jews are conspiring to impose their religion on the rest of us. Looks like youre swallowing the right-wing bigoted narrative hook, line, and sinker.

    • allison1050 May 31st, 2015 at 06:43

Exactly WHEN did a Muslim if ever try and impose their religion on you?

      • whatthe46 May 31st, 2015 at 20:04

never! he’s just a talking head!

    • Jeffrey Samuels May 31st, 2015 at 09:47

Gee, you could be talking about our own homegrown Christian right and SSM. The similarities are too close to ignore.

    • ohpaleasegivemeabreak May 31st, 2015 at 11:30

Todays “christians” in murka want their religion legislated so they can punish all who dare to not abide by their dictates.

IDENTICAL to ISIS and the Taliban and al Qaeda.

      • burqa May 31st, 2015 at 21:09

        Speak for yourself.
I’ll repeat for you the invitation I have extended to others here.
Come to Fredericksburg, Virginia and I will show you what Christians are doing where I live. They are running 78% of the food pantries.
We’ll get a current food plan and I’ll take you to where the soup kitchens feed the hungry daily and give them food and other needed items to take with them when they leave.
After supper, at each place a bus takes people to the homeless shelter, run by people who you can hate from a distance, but let’s see how you handle them up close, face to face when they give you the opportunity to pitch in and help out.
If you can’t make it here, just let me know the area where you reside and I’ll gladly help you find out what is going on around you that escapes your notice.
I am sure that, like me, once you get involved you’ll find you are surrounded by angels and the more you associate with those doing so much to help those in need, you will find your outlook on other people and life in general taking a dramatic change for the better.

        • ohpaleasegivemeabreak June 1st, 2015 at 09:14

          I am speaking for myself.

And I don’t care what your state does and how you think they are so pure.

From your tiny little bubble you have apparently not noticed all of the crap the Cult of The Duggers and Hobby Lobby are doing,

Remember – they SHAME the victims of their evil son’s pedophilia and pretend it was the girl’s fault for EXISTING AS A FEMALE. Holy holy holy.

    • Bunya May 31st, 2015 at 20:00

I don’t understand. Where are you getting this tripe from? One has only to read the above article to see which religion is imposing their beliefs on others.

      • whatthe46 May 31st, 2015 at 20:03

thank you. i don’t know where he got that message from either.

    • whatthe46 May 31st, 2015 at 20:07

i’ve had the jehovah witness and “christians” knock on my door, never a muslim.

    • burqa May 31st, 2015 at 21:01

Oh that’s rich coming from someone with a screen name calling for mass murder.

As if such a person should be taken seriously…….

    • tracey marie June 1st, 2015 at 17:24

seems it is the xtians attempting to force their religion on others.

  12. Roctuna May 30th, 2015 at 20:05

What a disgusting event, organized by disgusting people. I for one agree wholeheartedly with the last statement. Too much hatred there.

  13. granpa.usthai May 31st, 2015 at 01:46

If the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution really allows anyone/everyone to keep and bear arms, folks at the Mosque might opt to carry a North Korean pressure release detonator Nuclear briefcase.

Nothing says FU2 within a 10 mile radius like a professional built Nuclear Arms.

  14. Bunya May 31st, 2015 at 19:21

These are just fun loving Christians doing what fun loving Christians do. When they’re not playing the poor, persecuted, victims of religious persecution, they’re out killing doctors, bombing clinics, trashing gays, sexually molesting children, and terrorizing Muslims.

    • burqa May 31st, 2015 at 20:56

I’ll once again extend my invitation to you to come see what Christians are doing where I live.
Rather than comport to your hateful, shallow, inaccurate stereotype, I’ll introduce you to some of those who are running food pantries. 78% of them are run by Christians in the Fredericksburg, Virginia region.
For fun, I’ll take you around to ballparks where they run many sports leagues for kids and adults, for example.
Rather than killing doctors, they are pitching in to provide health care for those who can’t afford it, rather than bombing clinics they are building them.
I’ll introduce you to the gay man who often sat behind me in church.

Thousands of them terrorize no one here.

Are they killing doctors, bombing clinics and the rest in the place you live in?
Got any links to these crimes?
A link would help because I’m sure a lot of the things I see here are taking place where you live and you don’t even realize it. This is a shame, because when one gets directly involved, one finds a whole new world of thousands of amazing people. Being around these kind of people is refreshing and makes life much more enjoyable. Instead of all the misery you see around you, you’ll begin to see a great deal of love in action, inspired in selfless people by their faith.

      • Bunya June 1st, 2015 at 00:14

I know many Christians do fine things every day. It’s very admirable, but I think I’d respect them if their generosity was more because it’s the right thing to do and less for recognition. You may find this hard to believe, but there are many Atheists, Jews, Muslims, etc., performing good things. You just don’t see it because they’re not out announcing their good work. They’re not interested in your approval. And you’ll never see a Muslim homeless shelter because it’s considered haram (a sin) to garner praise or honor from mortal men. It is only important that Allah recognizes good works.

I often find that those who accuse others of being hate filled, usually are projecting their own hate filled tendencies onto others.

But don’t worry. I’m hoping that, soon enough you may find love replacing the hate that gushes from you currently. I know it’s a difficult transition for someone like you who’s harbored hatred in his heart for so long, to overcome it as many like you find their hate just too comfortable to part with. Here’s hoping that sooner, rather than later, you will rid yourself of the poison that darkens your heart and learn how to love, rather than judge.

  16. burqa May 31st, 2015 at 20:45

OP: “Imagine for a moment if the following aggressive behavior happened outside of a Christian Church. Substitute the words “Christian” with “Muslim.””

In a light-hearted sense, it would be hilarious. In a serious sense, it would be as awful as this.

    I liked this part:

“On one side, were the flag-waving, self-deemed patriots, yelling out hateful messages to those of a different faith. On the other side of the street, stood protesters with signs reading, “Love One Another.””

This is how to meet this kind of hatred. I also like my idea of how to deal with Klan marches. That is to refuse to give them the vitriol they hope to inspire, which ends up making the good guys look almost as bad as the bad guys. People like that feed off that sort of anger.
In my opinion, the better way to go is with ridicule and waves of laughter.
What I’d like to see is a crowd turn up and everyone has a boom box. Over the boom box they all blast the same 60s-era laugh track from “I Love Lucy”. Everyone declines gambits intended to cause anger or vitriol and instead keeps smiling, laughing and pointing at the buffoons.
After this took place a few times it would be more difficult to get racists or Muslim-haters or other such cretins to turn out when they know they will be greeted thusly for as long as they are there.

    • Bunya June 1st, 2015 at 01:48

“Substitute the words ‘Christian’ with ‘Muslim. In a light-hearted sense, it would be hilarious”

Hilarious? Can you imagine what would happen if Muslims were to protest outside a Christian church in this country? It wouldn’t be hilarious. It would be disastrous – for the Muslims. It would be the crusades all over again. In case you haven’t noticed, Muslims aren’t very well liked in this country, and I doubt they’d be stupid enough to do something like that – much like Christians wouldn’t be stupid enough to demonstrate their aggressive behavior in Syria or Iran.

      • burqa June 1st, 2015 at 21:27

I gave two answers, one flippant and one serious.
Though I labeled them clearly, somehow you got the impression that the flippant answer was the serious one.

Posts such as this have caused me to retire, at least for a while, Burqa’s First Law of Politics which is about how slow conservatives tend to be when it comes to learning even simple things, and how they need much more repetition, sometimes for decades, to learn what the rest of us pick up quickly (tax increases signed by Reagan would be an example).
That’s ok, I am known to be patient and will continue to be so until more here learn that it is illogical to argue from the particular to the general. In this case, the notion that a couple hundred people who don’t like Muslims reflecting the feelings of the country as a whole.
I do not think these armed nitwits are representative of America. On this point we’ll have to agree to disagree.
I live in a fairly conservative area and there are a number of Muslims living here.
One family who ran a grocery store downtown was widely admired for the way they did business in the community, especially the way they dealt with low income citizens who live in a housing project nearby.
Sure, there are some numbskulls around here who do not like Muslims, but they let them alone. I can’t recall any example of protests or violence directed at Muslims in this area, where about 250,000 Americans live within about a 15 or 20 mile radius of where I am.
From what I can see, when we look at the whole picture across our country, the prevailing opinion toward Muslims seems to me to be more of a live-and-let-live approach.

There once was a time when it seemed that a higher percentage of the people understood the fallacy of arguing from the particular to the general, but this may be a case of faulty memory. It could also be a case of a small number of people who have never learned to think logically who post on the internet making it appear a far greater percentage of Americans suffer from this flaw in thinking. This seems to be a common characteristic of the internet. People see the actions of a few kooks and get the impression they represent a far greater percentage than they actually do. Since we find quite a few people expressing arguments that employ this logical fallacy in forums like this, it makes it appear a large percentage of Americans think that way when really they don’t.

  17. Christopher Leach June 1st, 2015 at 01:05

so to recap …. black people unarmed committing no crime when protesting are a threat that brings in the national guard, tanks, body armor and automatic weapons.

white people armed, threatening people committing hate crimes ….. they do nothing. so to recap …. black people unarmed committing no crime when protesting are a threat that brings in the national guard, tanks, body armor and automatic weapons.

      • jasperjava June 1st, 2015 at 11:25

So this is the standard now? We can act like barbarians because in other places people may be acting worse?

        • willie wiggins June 2nd, 2015 at 12:22

Jasperjava, look at the history of blacks in America.
No other people have been treated as barberically,Anglos(whites) are very guilty of this.none should treat others in a barbaric way. Yet you speak of barberisim? No none should and if they do-will you join them?
Your arguement lacks merit and to a point is mute.look at every race of people on earth who have a claim of wrongs, the American govt. has paid reparations to,not so for the Black man. Is it so wrong we want and deserve a rightful share of this so called American dream? No it’s Not!
Barberians fit some much better than others. Don’t you agree? As for being the standard,it’s more of a standard for some than others.

PROTESTERS at a murder by police is indeed what that was.His statement of peacefull protest turn violent was attempt to examine the two and evaluate rights and wrongs of both.
