Ben And Jerry: We Were Longshots Once, Just Like Bernie Sanders

Ben and Jerry, the ice cream mavens, explained to me on radio why they support Bernie Sanders for president.

COLMES: Ben, what’s your reaction when people say, and I’m guilty of having said this too, well I’m not sure that he could win. What are the chances he can actually get the nomination and go on and win the Presidency? What’s the purpose of the candidacy? What’s your reaction when you hear that typical argument about Bernie Sanders?

COHEN: He’s a long shot, but so were Ben and Jerry. Every once in a while long shots come in.  You know the thing about Bernie is that he’s a populist, and if the policies that he’s supporting, healthcare for all, college for all, putting people back to work, are things that support millions and millions and millions of Americans, the huge majority of Americans. And if they just get behind him, he’ll win…

COLMES: I think there is a great deal of misunderstanding about what (Bernie Sanders) really represents.

COHEN: What he’s fighting is the fact that over 90% of the wealth that was created in the last 5 years has gone to the top 1% of the population.  That’s not socialism, that’s fighting aristocracy….It’s interesting that Bernie is an independent. What he’s supporting is things that the huge majority of American support except for the very, very wealthy.

New flavor from B&J: Dark Horse Swirl.
It’s the similar to the more popular Vanilla, in fact it’s marketed right next to it as an alternative.
But it contains fewer added sweeteners, has no nuts, no residual flavors from the previous batch run through the churn, and, unlike Hillary Clinton, has a swirl of dark chocolate going through it.
(If you’re looking for any political relevance in the “dark chocolate” part of that, give up:I just happen to like it, and it is 100% true that Mrs. Clinton has no dark chocolate swirl running through her.Truth in advertising, etc.)
