Islamophobe Copies Geller With Anti-Muslim Cartoon Contest

Posted by | May 28, 2015 11:58 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Religion

If you’re going to be a bigot, at least come up with your own schtick.

Jon Ritzheimer, a self-described patriot and atheist, is organizing an anti-Muslim “Muhammad Cartoon Contest” outside a mosque in Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday.

“I don’t even really want it to be about me, I want it to be just about pushing out the truth about Islam,” Ritzheimer told 12 News.

Ritzheimer defended a “F— Islam” T-shirt that his followers wear, and attributed the bigotry to not being “politically correct.”

Ritzheimer, who claims to be a Marine, added, “It’s not that some people are out perverting [Islam], it’s, these guys are following their book as it’s written.”

A Facebook page set up by Ritzheimer for the event, entitled “Freedom of Speech Rally Round II,” states:

This will be a PEACEFUL protest in front of the Islamic Community Center in Phoenix AZ. This is in response to the recent attack in Texas where 2 armed terrorist, with ties to ISIS, attempted Jihad.

Everyone is encouraged to bring American Flags and any message that you would like to send to the known acquaintances of the 2 gunmen.

That pithy response is cool as hell but it’s a fabrication unfortunately. (sad)

      http://www.nydailynews.com/archives/news/muhammad-ali-defends-religion-islam-peace-article-1.925188

Shaky on his feet but steady in his resolve, heavyweight boxing legend Muhammad Ali yesterday came to New York to cheer rescue workers and defend his faith. “What’s really hurting me, the name Islam is involved, and Muslim is involved and causing trouble and starting hate and violence,” Ali said during a rare, impromptu speech at the World Trade Center attack command center. “Islam is not a killer religion,” said Ali, who has suffered with Parkinson’s disease since 1984 and hasn’t spoken at length in public in years. “Islam means peace,” he said. “I couldn’t just sit home and watch people label Muslims as the reason for this problem.

” But Ali said he would back “100%” whatever action the United States takes against the perpetrators of last week’s terrorist attack. Those people, he said, are not followers of Islam. His voice soft and his body shaky, Ali said he “thought it was a dream” as he sat in his Berrien Springs, Mich., home and watched planes slam into the twin towers. “I didn’t think it really happened in real life,” he said. “The people over there dying. . . . I couldn’t imagine. I just couldn’t understand how people can take a plane and run it into a building knowing they are going to die, too.

        Thanks for that.

As long as someone thought of it, it can be used in response to that stupid question. It’s like the probably fictitious Gandhi quote, “I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ.” Even though he probably didn’t say it, he could have, and it expresses an appropriate thought.

        • FatRat May 28th, 2015 at 13:45

          In total agreement!

Thank you for making sure we are all basing our opinions on facts.

Still, there is no shortage of memorable moments in the life of the Greatest.

Unlike Cheney, Gingrich and others, Muhammad Ali did not hide behind student deferments. He bluntly stated that serving in the war in VietNam would be contrary to his religious beliefs.

That silence you hear is conservatives not saying a word about Ali’s first amendment rights being infringed. Convicting a man of a crime because he refuses a government order to violate his religious beliefs is not an infringement on rights. But a civil penalty imposed for refusing to cover valid medical expenses for birth control is an infringement on rights. Such is the “logic” of the conservative mind.

            Muhammad Ali

            Boxer : b. 1942

“If I thought going to war would bring freedom and equality to twenty-two million of my people, they wouldn’t have to draft me. I’d join tomorrow. But I either have to obey the laws of the land or the laws of Allah. I have nothing to lose by standing up and following my beliefs. We’ve been in jail for four hundred years.”

            • FatRat May 28th, 2015 at 15:56

Thank you and that’s an inspirational quote. Ali’s religious/moral priorities were far better than Cheney’s: “I had other priorities in the ’60s than military service.” (smile)

George Carlin explained his refusal to go to war this way: I’ll beat people up, but I won’t kill them.

              • Larry Schmitt May 28th, 2015 at 17:49

He (and other republicans, including Bush, who had a questionable career in the Reserves himself) would rather send other people’s kids to war than go themselves or send their own kids.

      Beautifully simple and profound.

  2. ValianThor May 28th, 2015 at 13:32

One can only hope the talking head/shill ‘Tommy Christopher’ has the audacity to republish the offending cartoons, here, on Liberaland.

    • arc99 May 28th, 2015 at 13:46

Did any of the right wing talking head/shill pundits wringing their hands over Janet Jackson’s breast at the Super Bowl have the audacity to post the halftime photo?

      • Suzanne McFly May 28th, 2015 at 14:43

Ugh, now you just made me picture in my head what the conservatives did with the photo of Janet Jackson’s boob. Yuck, head full of nasty tally wackers, need brain bleach….need brain bleach…..

        • Larry Schmitt May 28th, 2015 at 14:52

I still shake my head when I remember the fuss made about that, and that the FCC actually fined the network because a nipple actually was shown for a fraction of a second on broadcast TV. I wonder how many people had to make appointments with their eye doctors that week to cure the burning. Any time someone burns up the switchboards or email servers complaining about crap like that, someone should have the courage to tell them to stuff it.

          • Suzanne McFly May 28th, 2015 at 15:19

I watched it, but I would of never known about the nip slip if it wasn’t being shown on my TV for the next month about 150 times a day. They kept saying “how do we explain this to our kids?”. All I could think of is quit showing it and tell the kids it was just a damn nipple, same thing we all have. People are so scared of their sexuality, they demonize everything and anything that has a sexual nature. And we wonder why over 50% of married couples cheat.

            • Larry Schmitt May 28th, 2015 at 15:27

Unless you were actually watching at that instant, there wouldn’t be anything to explain. It is only halftime, when most fans choose to get make more nachos and use the facilities.

              • Suzanne McFly May 28th, 2015 at 15:56

Exactly, a whole lot of nothing about something they created, nippleghazi.

          • ChrisVosburg May 28th, 2015 at 17:01

We didn’t even see a nipple in the event that brought the phrase “wardrobe malfunction” into our national discourse; rather, we saw a brief glimpse of a piece of nipple jewelry covering the nipple (nipple shields up!), but that didn’t stop the FCC from going batshit all over the place.

The fines were thrown out in court, incidentally, and the FCC doggedly appealed for reinstatement nearly to the Supremes– who simply refused to hear the case but warned that in future it might not, so watch it, you buncha pervs.

          • StoneyCurtisll May 28th, 2015 at 17:22

            Gasp..Jacksons (nipple flash)…
            Speak no more of it..!!
Lest we all be damned to hell~!

  3. Bunya May 28th, 2015 at 13:54

I just love how all these Islamophobes, who don’t know what’s written in the bible(s), but yet are self-proclaimed experts on the Qur’an.
    .
If he wants to do something so idiotic as to let everyone know the extent of his stupidity and stage his own attention-garnering “draw Mohammed” event, more power to him. More intelligent people will stay away.

    • Larry Schmitt May 28th, 2015 at 13:57

I agree. I know a fair amount of what’s in the bible, but I would never attempt to give an opinion on the Koran, because I know as much about that as I do about nuclear physics. That doesn’t stop these ignoramuses, though.

      • Bunya May 28th, 2015 at 14:08

I’m really angered by these so-called “Christians” who lump all Muslims into one category, yet produce excuses, ad nauseum, for less desirable folks such has Adolph Hitler and Scott Roeder who, BTY, were Christians.

      • ChrisVosburg May 28th, 2015 at 16:38

Don’t know much about it either, but based on some of what the more, uh, driven bible-beaters appear to derive from the Good Book,
I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that you can interpret cherry-picked selections of either of these religious texts to mean anything you want it to mean, whether Christian or Muslim, Bible or Koran.

  4. Suzanne McFly May 28th, 2015 at 14:40

Way to be original dumbass. Anyone that shows up there deserves whatever happens, you would think even a moron could learn from past mistakes, but I guess if that were true they wouldn’t be a moron.

  5. Herb Sarge Phelps May 28th, 2015 at 16:00

I served in 2 branches of the military and this guy is a jarhead not a Marine. We swore to defend and protect the constitution (not just the bill of rights as Rand Paul wrongly told Jon Stewart) and to promote such hatred and intolerance isn’t what we swore to.

    • ChrisVosburg May 28th, 2015 at 16:30

Herb writes: this guy is a jarhead not a Marine

I always thought jarhead was synonymous with US Marine, and sure enough, MW-10 tells me that

jarhead: a member of the United States Marine Corps

I’m guessing that you’re making the point that there’s more to it than the high and tight haircut; is that it?

  6. StoneyCurtisll May 28th, 2015 at 17:11

Maybe this time the idiots who seek to kill the assholes will be more successful..
I just hope no innocent people are harmed.

  7. CityZen May 28th, 2015 at 18:58

    Semper Fudd, MoFo!

  8. allison1050 May 28th, 2015 at 22:46

    Was he really a Marine?

  9. Ben Ghazi May 29th, 2015 at 05:52

He joined the military to go Iraq to form a muslin based gvmt … got it.

  10. Darksnark May 29th, 2015 at 06:29

Mr. Ritzheimer has also encouraged protesters to bring their guns in case of “trouble” and, apparently, a bunch of bikers like the ones down in Waco are going to show up, as well: http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/29/us/mohammed-cartoon-contest/index.html

    “Free speech event”, my ass.

This douchebag bigot Ritzheimer is attempting to incite violence….

Ever wonder where brave, intrepid cartoon crusaders Matt Stone and Trey Parker (South Park) are? Maybe laughing at the procession of each new caricature crusader’s publicity antics in the ‘news.’ It won’t bring back Van Gogh his head.
One thing is for sure, after throwing their own naive supporter, Molly Norris, under the bus, Stone & Parker assured that their kazillions of $$$’s will offer them safety, security, and anonymity in whatever hole they’ve dug for themselves. Poor Molly, well, good luck in Rushdie-Land.
