2010 GOP candidate for NY Governor Carl Paladino refers to “damn Asians” while claiming that international students take away seats from NY residents at state supported colleges. The claim does not hold up to scrutiny. Paladino is currently a member of the Buffalo Public school board. http://www.wgrz.com/story/news/politics/2015/06/11/paladino-asian-remark/71102840/
Today is Loving Day…
On June 12, the anniversary of the 1967 United States Supreme Court decision Loving v. Virginia which struck down all, (anti-interracial marriage laws) anti-miscegenation laws remaining in sixteen U.S. states
citing “There can be no doubt that restricting the freedom to marry
solely because of racial classifications violates the central meaning of
the equal protection clause.”
I find it shocking that it took until 1967 for this to happen.
