Guess Who Wants To Head UN Human Rights Council?
Clue: this nation has executed 85 people so far this year.
Saudi Arabia is reportedly planning to make a bid to head the United Nations’ Human Rights Council, in a move that has been described as the “final nail in the coffin for the credibility” of the HRC.
Reports of the bid come just days after Saudi Arabia posted a job advertisement for eight new executioners. …
The country will move to assume lead control over the HRC after 2016 when the presidency is awarded to a new nation.
UN Watch, a non-profit human rights group that monitors the international body, disclosed Saudi Arabia’s intentions in a recent report and urged the United States to fight against it.
Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, said that the move was liable to be “the final nail in the coffin for the credibility of a body that already counts dictatorships like China, Cuba and Russia as members, and whose top advisor is co-founder of the Muammar Qaddafi Human Rights Prize”.

Algeria, Bangladesh, China, Congo, Indonesia, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, South Africa, this is a fine upstanding group of freedom and rights loving countries to be sure on that commission. But I am sure that the eighty-eight who have been publicly beheaded in public squares so far this year had all their rights protected and that due process was respected during their trials.

Each of those countries still imposes capital punishment.
At least they are honest about it, making a public display of the gory spectacle. Here in America, capital punishment advocates engage in a lot of tough-guy rhetoric as long as the actual killing is safely hidden from the public.
Until we join our closest political and cultural allies such as Britain, Canada, Australia, France et al in abolishing the death penalty, we have no moral grounds to criticize anyone about how they execute people.

It’s not just how many they kill, but who and why.
Gays, apostates, adulterers, to put them even on the human rights commission is a travesty of justice and evidence of just what a joke the UN is.

The Bush’s Saudi Arabia is first on the Human violators list! A far better choice is any one of the other 198 Countries recognized by the U.N.
