Court Ordered Josh Duggar Police Record Destroyed Yesterday

What interesting timing – and what a great early morning catch for our friends over at TPM:

Arkansas police have destroyed the records of the investigation into Josh Duggar’s alleged molestation of five underage girls, a police spokesman announced Friday, a day after the reality TV star resigned his position as head of FRC Action.

Springdale Police spokesman Scott Lewis said Judge Stacey Zimmerman ordered the 2006 offense report destroyed Thursday. Zimmerman didn’t return a request for comment on Friday.

“The judge ordered us yesterday to expunge that record,” Lewis said, adding that similar records are typically kept indefinitely. “As far as the Springdale Police Department is concerned this report doesn’t exist.”

Neither Duggar nor his father, a former state representative, returned calls seeking comment Friday.

Meanwhile, guess what happened to the Duggar procreation cult’s “reality” TV show?

The popular reality TV show “19 Kids and Counting” was yanked off the air Friday following revelations that one of the show’s stars had molested several girls, including his own sisters, when he was a teenager.

TLC, which has televised the show since 2008, decided it would not be appropriate to continue showing repeats amid news coverage of the scandal. Earlier in the day on Friday, General Mills had said it would pull all of its planned ads from the show.

“Effective immediately, TLC has pulled all episodes of ’19 Kids and Counting’ currently from the air,” the channel said. “We are deeply saddened and troubled by this heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and victims at this difficult time.”

The channel’s move came one day after Josh Duggar, who is now 27, apologized in the wake of an In Touch Magazine report that he had molested the girls when he was 15.

Some of the girls were family members.

If the scandal did not involve underage girls and a cover-up by the family patriarch, it would be an occasion for schadenfreude. But we are not laughing.

I have said in every case that records like this have been opened that it is wrong and possibly illegal. I think if the court ordered the documents sealed or expunged (as they do with most juvinile caes) that once a person turns 18 those records should be burned and no longer available for thins such as this.

I don’t know. I know someone that went to prison because a minor lied in court but there was proof they were lying but they were in sealed court documents. It is possible that he can get his record cleared at some point, if the records are there and not destroyed. At some point justice must be allowed to work itself out. Destroying records is just hiding the truth and that has very little real value.

I’m talking about doing harm to some one who did something as a minor and the records being sealed and then illegally opened up. If a minor lied and put someone else in jail then that would be in the trial records and would be available. In this case justice was served and their was no reason to send the records to the media except for political reasons. Someone did not like what the Duggar’s stood for and broke the law to ruin them.

I have always maintained that the losers in an overly-large family (nineteen kids, for example) are the kids. It is the quality of the family upbringing, not the quantity of kids to be brought up, which makes one a good parent. It is better that they learn to play well together, with either friends or strangers, than it is to be able to field both teams in a baseball game.

as history proves The quickest and easiest way to find child molesters is to search all the local churches first.

think of all the man power and money it will save

I hope Duggar’s victims will come forward.

They will, when they realize how much money they can now make off of this. Give them some time to write some books and make a movie deal. This scandal/tragedy/crime has dollars signs plastered all over it. Grifters got to grift and this is one grifting family.

Well then, it sounds like if the judge did it for one she should do it for all!
