Obama Signs Bill To Protect Police

The next time your conservative friends tell you that President Obama hates the police, tell him or her about this.

The Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu National Blue Alert Act of 2015, named after the two NYPD officers who were gunned down in an ambush attack last December, will require the Justice Department to alert police departments to credible threats against officers and notify law enforcement officials of officers missing or killed in the line of duty.

The system is reportedly modeled after the Amber Alert system for abducted children.

“They were serving their community with great honor and dedication and courage, and all of New York grieved and all of the nation grieved,” Obama said of Liu and Ramos while in the Oval Office with the fallen officers’ families. “It’s important for us not only to honor their memory, it’s also important for us to make sure that we do everything we can to help ensure the safety of our police officers when they’re in the line of duty.”

We need a law to make the Justice Department share relevant information with Police Departments? That is unbelievable.
