Americans Don’t Want ‘Religious Freedom’ Laws
A Pew poll shows Americans are not interested in laws that are for so-called “religious freedom.”
“While a Pew Research Center poll conducted in September showed Americans were split on whether businesses with religious objections should be able to refuse service to a gay wedding (with 47 percent in favor), and a January AP-GfK poll showed a clear majority (57 percent) thought they should be able to, a new CNN/Opinion Research poll suggests increasing skepticism of religious freedom laws. The new poll shows just 41 percent think businesses should be able to refuse service to gay weddings, while 57 percent disagree.”

the problem might lie in the rea;m of belief – belief in itself denies any substantial reality – if it did it might be called “know”. and religious extremists (maybe all religious folks) spend a lot of tim believing and very little time trying to know anything outside of their meaningless shell of a book.
Larry Schmitt April 25th, 2015 at 15:24
Actually, most religious people think they know. It’s called faith. They think what they believe is actually true, no matter how implausible it is.

yeah. it was awful last night/early morning hours. there were 2 big booms. the neighbors have no elect. except for me. target was built (may as well say) in my backyard. so far whatever reason i’m on their grid and my power doesn’t go out. there’s have been out since 4:30 this morning. one neighbor just left my home. she came over to make coffee. and we’re not over it yet. i hope my power stays on, otherwise i’m going to be miserable.

Actually most of the 27? states that have a Religious freedom law on the books use nearly identical wording to the federal law. Someare more onerous like CT
rg9rts April 25th, 2015 at 05:51
Why don’t you say Hi?? Gary??
tracey marie April 25th, 2015 at 09:18

I can tell you why Indiana’s law was so troublesome compared to the Federal law and the other 19 states. I stole it directly from ABS News.
Indiana’s law is significantly different than the law that 19 other states and the federal government has in place for a number of reasons. Mostly because Indiana has no state non-discrimination laws in place that supersede this act. ABC has a great brief explanation how this works.
1. INDIANA’S LAW APPLIES TO COMPANIES; OTHERS DON’T (they apply to churches and non-profits)
2. IN SOME OTHER STATES, NONDISCRIMINATION LAWS TRUMP ‘RELIGIOUS FREEDOM’ LAWS
3. THE POLITICAL CONTEXT IS DIFFERENT, AND SO ARE THE POLICY AIMS
4. THE INDIANA LAW APPLIES TO PRIVATE DISPUTES
