5-Year-Old Makes $25,000 Selling Lemonade For Disabled Brother
Na’ama Uzan, a five-year old girl from Toronto did an amazing thing.
Na’ama’s brother, seven-year-old Nadav, was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, a neurodevelopmental disorder, when he was two years old. The disability is characterised with developmental delays, speech impairment and frequent seizures amongst other problems, and can occur in one in every 15,000 live births.
In a determined attempt to find a cure for her brother, Na’ama set up a lemonade stall last spring to raise money for the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (FAST)…
Na’ama’s efforts caught the attention of David Lowe and his partner Steve in California. The couple only recently had to face the news that their son, Joshua, had Angelman Syndrome. Seeing Na’ama in action inspired David and Steve to donate $20,000 to set up a research grant in her name. David told CTV Toronto: “The technology and therapies will be there to help these individuals and the only way that hope is going to be fulfilled is through the efforts like people like Na’ama and her family who inspire others to give.”
and her family who inspire others to give.”
The couple’s generous donation, along with the money raised from Na’ama’s lemonade stalls, totals around $25,000, which will be given to FAST in the hope that a cure is found. Unlike other complex disorders which can cause mutation or deletion of multiple genes, Angelman Syndrome affects the function of one single gene. Ideas for restoring this gene’s function are underway and there is hope for a cure.

Can we switch the cruz family with this family and call us even?
Bunya April 14th, 2015 at 13:55
That would be great, but I’m afraid Canada will charge us $2+ billion to take Cruz off our hands.

That is a cheap bill I think we should pay.

Just when you think that mankind has no redeeming features, a child shows us the way.
