White House Reporter Apologizes For Calling President Obama ‘Obama’ At Briefing
Earlier this week, we reported on Washington Examiner White House Correspondent Susan Crabtree’s lapse in briefing room decorum, as she referred to President Obama simply as “Obama” four times during an exchange with Press Secretary Josh Earnest. After a day and a half of intense social media reaction to the story. Crabtree responded Thursday by expressing regret over the lapse, but defending her credentials as a non-partisan reporter.
In case you missed it, Correspondent Crabtree waded into Tuesday’s White House daily briefing with several questions of keen interest to The Washington Examiner’s readers, including one in which she tied President Obama’s remarks at sundry prayer breakfasts with ISIS beheadings and a vacant diplomatic post, all while referring to the president simply as “Obama”:
The jarring exchange prompted me to analyze all of Earnest’s briefing transcripts to see if this is as rare an occurrence as it seemed to be, and that review confirmed that not only do reporters not ever call President Obama “Obama” during briefings, they almost always refer to him as “the president.” There was only one other reporter (Francesca Chambers) who called him “Obama” without also referencing “the president,” and she only did it once. Watch the heads explode in the right wing blogosphere, followed by claims that the reporter’s contrition is an example of the Obama administration’s strong-armed intimidation of conservative reporters and an unconstitutional manipulation of “freedom of the press”.

i hate when people like this “apologize” because there’s absolutely no sincerity in their “apologies.” she said what she said, and she meant what she meant. she’s got to be one pisspoorass journalist/reporter, that she doesn’t realize that she would be called to light for such ignorance. now, in 3…2…1, here comes the gofundme campaign because everyones pi&&ed at her. and she feels so wronged. she’ll need the money to pay her bills, because no one will want to hire her.

I admit I have referred to the President as just Obama, but I caught myself and I wondered why I wasn’t putting his proper title first. He worked hard to be where he is and he deserves to be given the respect the job requires. However, I still call bush just bush and I am pretty sure that won’t change.

in informal situations, that happens. we have all called a president by their sir names. but, this was not an informal setting and she should have respected him and the office. if she can’t she needs to set her tired, pathetic ass down!
