Obama To Seek State Bans On Gay Conversion Therapy
It’s unlikely that anyone running for president in 2016 would do this. It’s good that President Obama has the consciousness to urge this change. Maybe Hillary Clinton. Maybe.
Click here for reuse options! The White House made it clear today that President Obama is officially coming out against gay conversion therapy and will seek state bans against the practice.
Back in December, a transgender teenager named Leelah Alcorn committed suicide by walking in front of a semi-trailer truck. In a suicide note on Tumblr, Alcorn said her mother had a very negative reaction and sent her to a Christian therapist who specializes in gay “conversion.” She wrote, “The only way I will rest in peace is if one day transgender people aren’t treated the way I was, they’re treated like humans, with valid feelings and human rights.”
A month later, someone set up a petition on the White House website to end conversion therapy because of the serious harm it can do to LGBT youth. Well, tonight Valerie Jarrett responded to the petition and made one thing very clear: “As part of our dedication to protecting America’s youth, this Administration supports efforts to ban the use of conversion therapy for minors.”

Hilary’s position should be: ‘If people want to waste their money on some useless therapy that doesn’t work, then go ahead.’

Excellent!!
All conversion therapy does is ruin lives and tell kids that they’re not legitimate humans.
It’s long past time to stop this barbaric act of religious bigotry!

No kind of psychotherepy should be used on a minor, except by professionals trained in the treatment of children and teens. There are a lot of variables to factor in, when dealing with the often volatile emotions of developing personalities. A preacher’s first duty is to God and his interpretation of God’s word. A professional psychotherapist’s first duty is to the well-being of the patient. It’s sad that a ban is necessary to implement what should be common sense for the parents.

maybe if they were all locked up, like in Patrick’s 700 sexual fantasies – prison homosexual rape scene?

It’s a little difficult to try to fix what isn’t broke. It’s what drives religious conservatives crazy.
