Jesse Lee Peterson: God Didn’t Make Gays, Because ‘God Doesn’t Make Mistakes’

Posted by | April 7, 2015 10:30 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Radio Interviews Top Stories

Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson, who said, “Discrimination is given to us by God,” told me that gays are not a creation of God because “God doesn’t make mistakes.”

Peterson explained why he is defending discrimination and calling it “a hallmark of freedom.” When Alan asked Rev. Peterson if he is okay with segregation and with black people being forced to sit in the back of a movie theater, Rev. Peterson quickly negated his stance: “No, I’m not fine with that.”

Later, Rev. Peterson addressed whether or not being gay is a choice. “God didn’t make them that way. God doesn’t make mistakes,” Peterson exclaimed. “There is no proof at all that men and women are born homosexual.”

I will resist the obvious comeback, “He made you, didn’t he?”

    • Roctuna April 7th, 2015 at 10:40

Don’t resist, let ‘er rip. Got any more?

    • bluejayray April 7th, 2015 at 11:14

Thanks–I was sitting on my hands trying not to say that.

But it turns out god does make mistakes. He gave us this clown.

    • Larry Schmitt April 7th, 2015 at 11:25

No, I think we have Texas to thank for him.

          I love it!

        • Larry Schmitt April 8th, 2015 at 08:58

But Texas is where he got his “qualifications” to be president.

          • fancypants April 8th, 2015 at 23:35

I thought its where gwb met cheney ? or should I say that’s where cheny’s pals first took gwb for a ride and bankrupted him. the story gets confusing from here…

      • red-diaper-baby 1942 April 8th, 2015 at 08:50

I think Texas may have been another “mistake”. Or perhaps he was still experimenting when he made it, trying to figure out what he was doing.

        • Larry Schmitt April 8th, 2015 at 08:58

You can’t blame god for Texas, it’s completely man-made. Created by the Mexicans, and stolen by the Americans.

  3. bluejayray April 7th, 2015 at 11:13

Look in the mirror. Did your god give racist assholes the right to discriminate against you?
It IS in the buybull–mark of Cain and all that.

    • cleos_mom April 8th, 2015 at 09:33

That was the mark of a murderer. The rationalization for racism comes from the Noah story.

Every time I read statements like those from the esteemed pastor I am reminded just how far our species has left to go to reach the level of ‘intelligent life form’!

If god doesn’t make mistakes, then why are we inundated with conservative republicans?

  7. rg9rts April 7th, 2015 at 12:29

Well Jesse YOU are the first failure

    He has it wrong. It’s:
    “you’re beautiful in your way
    ’cause God makes no mistakes
You’re on the right track, baby
    You were born this way”
    – Lady Gaga

Peterson’s comments are both sad and amusing … on multiple levels.

JLP’s god didn’t make anything, his god is a hateful destroyer god.

God doesn’t make mistakes because god is a character in a fairy tale. He’s not real – its a children’s story you idiot.

Of course, for about 100 years now, the mental health community has said that being gay is not a choice, and is pretty much immutable. When “Exodus International” folded, they admitted that they had been 99.9% unsuccessful in changing anybody’s sexual orientation. So yes, God did make them that way, and He doesn’t make mistakes. So it’s the Bible verses that are wrong, which is not a problem, since we disregard so much of it already, because this is the 21st Century, not the Bronze Age. We don’t stone disobedient children to death, practice slavery, polygamy or concubinage, follow inexplicable dietary restrictions or subjugate women. We are OK with wearing clothing made of more than one fiber, we don’t make menstruating women stay in a tent in the back yard because they are “unclean” or force rape victims to marry their rapists.

Where’d they find this lightweight? Logic escapes blowhards like this.

  16. mrbigstuff April 7th, 2015 at 21:13

Why do so called Christians think they know what’s right for everyone else picking and chooseing from a book Written in Greek thousand of years ago by men?

Someone please send this man a Lady Gaga album.

Peterson also established an annual “National Day of Repudiation of Jesse Jackson” event, which lasted from 1999 to 2004, and which was held outside Jackson’s offices in Los Angeles.[6][7] Peterson is a friend of Sean Hannity’s and is a frequent guest on his TV show

I would give these self-proclaimed, but fake, Christians the benefit of the doubt if they refused to serve every abomination in the Bible.

These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue . . . A false witness who speaks lies . . . And one who sows discord among brethren.

For example, if they refused to serve anyone who peddles the canards (a false witness & a lying tongue) that Ayn Rand/Reagan/Thatcher Trickle Down/Supply Side Satanomics pays for itself and/or that it does not murder the middle class; then I would give them benefit of the doubt.

If they refused to serve anyone who peddles the canard of alleged American Exceptionalism (a proud look & a false witness & a lying tongue); then I would give them benefit of the doubt.

If they refused to serve anyone who peddles the canard that being gay is a lifestyle choice (a false witness & a lying tongue & sowing discord among brethren); then I would give them benefit of the doubt.

If they refused to serve anyone who peddles the canard that “Evolution is just a theory” (a false witness & a lying tongue & sowing discord among brethren); then I would give them benefit of the doubt.

If they refused to serve anyone who tries to disingenuously obfuscate the fact that Conservatism is as much an ideology as hijacking passenger jets and crashing them into office towers is an ideology (a false witness & a lying tongue & sowing discord among brethren); then I would give them benefit of the doubt.

The list of those engaging in the real lifestyle choice of being real abomination goes on and on

Either they discriminate against all abominations, or they have to serve everyone.

Smoke and mirrors, the GOP must always have an enemy to detract from their own culpability and failings. An enemy that doesn’t exist except in their minds and self proclaimed righteousness maintained through zealotry and ignorance, fueled by greed.
