WATCH: Unearthed Footage Of Jon Stewart Doing Standup In 1994
by Joe Clark
Jon Stewart is arguably this generation’s Johnny Carson. His cultural influence is undeniable, his sharp wit merciless, and his humor has made the news more enjoyable. This year, Jon will be leaving the daily show after 16 seasons.
He started hosting the daily show in 1999, taking over as host from the original host Craig Kilborn. Jon has taken on celebrities, political nuts, presidents, senators, foreign politicians, and captains of industry. You can bet a lot of those people will breathe a little easier when he leaves The Daily Show, but hopefully not for long. Jon has made “speaking truth to power” fun and cool.
We’ve found some found footage of a very young Jon Stewart doing his stand-up routine at a small college in 1994. Visit Liberal America to watch the video.

The thing is I never found him to be that funny when he did standup. And I liked the Daily show before he was there. But he sure did bring that show to be the highest of quality on all levels.
I sure hope his replacement can keep up the high standards. There are alot of funny people out there, but his interviewing style is one thing that made him the greatest talk show host of a generation.
