Indiana Lawmakers Announce Changes To “Religious Freedom’ Law
Too bad they didn’t think of these issues in the first place.
Click here for reuse options! The amendment to the Religious Freedom Restoration Act released Thursday prohibits service providers from using the law as a legal defense for refusing to provide services, goods, facilities or accommodations. It also bars discrimination based on race, color, religion, ancestry, age, national origin, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or United States military service.
A conference committee must discuss the proposed changes to the law, and both the House and the Senate will need to approve them before they can go to Gov. Mike Pence.
Pence called for changes to clarify the law Tuesday in response to an uproar fueled by discrimination concerns.

“Too bad they didn’t think of these issues in the first place.”…
Right wing nuts are far to delusional to ever think anyone could be against anything they try to force through. They never expected for a minute this bill would be met with overwhelming resistance.

Sounds like a good fix. It think it’s a victory for LGBTs and other minorities.

That will never pass. Wait until they shoot big old holes in it before it passes.

From what I hear several amendments to modify it were offered, but nooooo….
I think a lot of the GOP legislators just wanted to stick it to the LGBT community over the same sex marriage thing and at the same time polish their apple with the religious right. At no time probably did any of them foresee the economic backlash this would unleash. I have enjoyed watching their leaders’ press conferences this week. They all seem stunned like they don’t know what happened.
