New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez Indicted

Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) has been charged with using his office to improperly benefit a Florida eye doctor and political donor according to the Washington Post. Menendez will hold a press conference at 7 p.m. tonight from Newark.

After a more than two-year investigation, Menendez faces charges for what prosecutors believe were improper efforts by Menendez to help Salomon Melgen, a Florida-based doctor who was also a contributor to Menendez’s campaigns and his longtime friend. Menendez intervened on Melgen’s behalf in a dispute with the federal regulators over Medicare charges and in a bid by Melgen to secure a port security contract in the Dominican Republic.

Menendez, would be only the second U.S. senator to face a federal corruption indictment in the last 20 years. He has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and suggested that any gifts he received from Melgen were part of a close, personal friendship that dates back to the early 1990s.

Federal prosecutors are also expected to unveil charges against Melgen connected to the gifts-for-favors allegations.

If found guilty, full punishment. I don’t care if it’s a Con or a Dem. You break the law, you get punished.

Abso-f*cking-lutely. I’d only add that they should do their time in maximum security…not medium or minimum. And no early releases to half way houses.

If you disagree with Obama, he will use the full force of the government against you.

Meanwhile in a related story, the Obama/Holder Political Justice Dept. will not, I repeat will not, file criminal contempt charges against Lois Lerner for her contempt of the people’s house, the Congress of the United states.

      Total nonsense…

      ______

That’s what we always said about the lawless of the Bush administration too.
Remember the US attorney firings? Valerie Plame?
Remember the W.Virginia couple arrested for wearing anti-Bush shirts?

Remember the ACTUAL REAL IRS scandals of the Bush administration?

      Not to even mention Reagan.

Obama has a long, long way to go to get close to THEIR lawlessness.

They go after law breakers no matter their party affiliation. Ray Nagan, former mayor of NO is doing well deserved time, and now they’re going after Menendez.

You really need to step out of the RW bubble for some fresh air.

All your faux chairman Issa & Trey Pouty scandals resulted in “0 Indictments” following 50 weeks of hearings per year.

The indictment of NJ Sen Menendez is all you RWNJ’s get after 7 years!!! But wait there’s more! Rhodes scholar NJ Sen Corey Booker may soon take the reigns as NJ’s Sr Senator:)

you are at least entertaining and good for a belly laugh. Your schizophrenia should be treatable, give it a try

For all your wishful thinking that some type of scandal will come out of President Obama’s administration, the best you can come up with is Lois Lerner? That seems to be the only reason you and your talk radio overlords don’t let anything go. Get it through your heads, there is no there there, and there never was.

Hey tater thanx for the input from the RWNJs

Lerner should have been charged with contempt of Darrell Issa.

But then again who doesn’t have contempt for that POS.

I dont care if a republican or Democratic party politician is involved in corruption..
get rid of them, indict them and of found guilty, lock em up.

Imagine that.. A corrupt politician.. Paid for by “We the people”

    • Chinese Democracy April 2nd, 2015 at 00:51

paid for by we the people and bought by corporations

I seriously cannot figure out what he may have done that ALL of the other politicians aren’t doing. I said the same thing about Schock (sp?), and I will say the same about JEB.

The only way to avoid this is to completely take money out of politics. The only way that will happen is with a constitutional amendment that:

    1. Says money is NOT speech (you know, cuz it really isn’t)
    2. Establishes public financing for all political offices.
    3. Says corporations are NOT people (you know, cuz they really aren’t).

But since it’s the politicians who make the rules, and they like things just the way they are now, that’s not likely to happen.

    • Larry Schmitt April 2nd, 2015 at 08:47

Citizens United was one of the worst rulings every by SCOTUS. Along with Dred Scott.

  6. rg9rts April 2nd, 2015 at 08:01

Really??? So we can count on indictments for Chris and Jeb for selling indulgences???

    • Larry Schmitt April 2nd, 2015 at 08:43

I didn’t even know they were Catholic.

      • rg9rts April 2nd, 2015 at 08:56

        $$$$$ is universal

        • Larry Schmitt April 2nd, 2015 at 08:59

I just meant the phrasing. “Selling indulgences” was a common practice in the church of the Middle Ages.
