Angelina Jolie Has Ovaries Removed In Preventative Surgery

This comes two years after another preventative procedure where she had a double mastectomy.

I had been planning this for some time. It is a less complex surgery than the mastectomy, but its effects are more severe. It puts a woman into forced menopause. So I was readying myself physically and emotionally, discussing options with doctors, researching alternative medicine, and mapping my hormones for estrogen or progesterone replacement. But I felt I still had months to make the date.

Then two weeks ago I got a call from my doctor with blood-test results. “Your CA-125 is normal,” he said. I breathed a sigh of relief. That test measures the amount of the protein CA-125 in the blood, and is used to monitor ovarian cancer. I have it every year because of my family history.

But that wasn’t all. He went on. “There are a number of inflammatory markers that are elevated, and taken together they could be a sign of early cancer.” I took a pause. “CA-125 has a 50 to 75 percent chance of missing ovarian cancer at early stages,” he said. He wanted me to see the surgeon immediately to check my ovaries…

The day of the results came. The PET/CT scan looked clear, and the tumor test was negative. I was full of happiness, although the radioactive tracer meant I couldn’t hug my children. There was still a chance of early stage cancer, but that was minor compared with a full-blown tumor. To my relief, I still had the option of removing my ovaries and fallopian tubes and I chose to do it.

Very pro-active, hopefully other women will take the test and make the best decision for them and their family

The Anti-Vaxxers are all over this story on FB

In my mind, cutting off parts of your body to prevent them from MAYBE getting a disease has little in common with the so called anti-vaxxers. It is crazy in its own way.
There are legitimate concerns about vaccines by the way. My concerns are not with the science behind vaccinating against diseases that are contagious and deadly, but with the profit and greed aspect of our pharmaceutical industry which will spend more money on bribing congress and advertising than they do developing and testing the drugs. Most of the big block buster, expensive, and heavily advertised drugs are already in law suits over side effects that are worse than the ailments they claim to cure or alleviate. Is it worth it to risk uncontrollable bleeding in you brain in order to quit smoking or lose a few pounds?.

I agree with you about the new drug thing, dry eye, eyelash grower, bladder leakage, etc… Pretty sure the MMR is a safe bet. I may not always trust my government, well I should go with rarely trust my government but to think that dozens of drug companies, and hundreds of government officials along with thousands of scientists are in cahoots to commit a conspiracy regarding vaccines – seems a bit far fetched to me. If you can’t keep a presidential blowjob a secret, pretty sure this conspiracy wouldn’t last a day.

I’m just glad that I’m old now. I actually had both kinds of measles, chickenpox and the Asian flu that came through in the 50s. It’s the only time I’ve been in a hospital. I was just 6 years old and had never seen a nun in habit before. Scared the crap out of me. I choose not to get a flu shot and I’ve only had the flu that one time. I haven’t had a cold for over 5 years. Meanwhile all the vaccinated folks around me are sniveling and seem to always have “the grunge” .

she has 6 kids and a heavy schedule…exhaustion

      • bluejayray March 24th, 2015 at 22:25

My heart does not bleed for her. A lot of us have had tough lives without the benefit of her resources.

pull the teeth – no more cavities. Cut off toes and fingers – never an ingrown nail. This woman is living in a place call lala land – the real one!

    • tracey marie March 24th, 2015 at 17:08

I hope you never have to deal with cancer. She has 6 kids and now she has less then 10% chance of getting the cancer that killed her mother and grandmother

      • bluejayray March 24th, 2015 at 22:24

Genes aren’t destiny. If they were I would have been dead about 30 years ago. My parents didn’t take care of themselves. I do.

        • tracey marie March 24th, 2015 at 22:30

did not take care of themselves is diffrent then testing positive for the brac gene, much diffrent

      • bluejayray March 24th, 2015 at 22:27

How about gum disease? That will kill you too. Perhaps she should get all her teeth pulled before that happens.

        • tracey marie March 24th, 2015 at 22:28

really, making fun of cancer and a way to help yourself not get it…REALLY?

          • bluejayray March 24th, 2015 at 22:33

I’m not making fun of cancer at all. I watched my mom go through the cancer mill, and my best friend is in their clutches now. I just don’t think that cutting out body parts as a preventative measure makes sense. Both my mom and my friend had eaten diets that promoted cancer as well as used a lot of products that promoted it. My friend still is, but I can’t really tell her anything. She’ll be gone soon and it makes me sad to watch.

IF it will turn 80% into 5%, hell I would. To lose or watch it is bad and I feel for you, to die from it or suffer through it is worse…I know
