White House: Israel Policy Could Change
The White House on Thursday sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s tactics during his reelection campaign, warning that they could alter U.S. policy toward Israel and the Palestinian bid for statehood.
Netanyahu, who won decisively, appeared on Thursday to walk back his repudiation of a two-state solution with the Palestinians made just days before the election. But the White House’s comments indicate that Netanyahu’s campaign further strained already-tense relations between Obama and the Israeli prime minister.
Press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters at his daily press briefing that the administration would “reevaluate the strategy” it uses in making decisions at the U.N. and other international forums based on Netanyahu’s decision to go back on his support for Palestinian statehood.“Words matter and that is certainly true in this instance,” the spokesman said.
No decisions have been made, but Earnest said it could be “difficult” for the U.S. to keep opposing Palestinian statehood resolutions at the United Nations.
The U.S. has traditionally objected to the statehood resolutions, arguing the matter should be left to the Israelis and the Palestinians. Israeli support for a two-state solution is “the foundation of a number of policy decisions that have been made here. And now that that foundation has been eroded,” Earnest said.
Earnest also chastised Netanyahu for warning his supporters in the run up to the election that Arab-Israelis were voting in large numbers.
He called the rhetoric a “cynical” and “divisive” campaign maneuver that marginalized Arab-Israeli citizens and undermined democratic values.
The Israeli prime minister on Thursday denied that he changed his policy toward a Palestinian state, saying the remarks were a reflection of the current political atmosphere.

And Bibi has the ball to say” I meant no disrespect” Like hell you didn’t
jybarz March 20th, 2015 at 09:55
He can say it because he’s a forked tongued snake.
bluejayray March 20th, 2015 at 20:37
He didn’t mean what he said about the two state solution, either…at least so he says now that he’s re-elected. Israel must have media outlets modeled on Fox “news”/GOPTP propaganda network. It’s the only way they could believe two opposing things at once. We have always been at war with Oceania/We have never been at war with Oceania…

ONLY because of the ‘current political atmosphere’.
anothertoothpick March 20th, 2015 at 08:40
We send him $3 billion taxpayers dollars every year.
He comes over here and insults us and spits in OUR presidents face.
There had better be a change in policy.
jybarz March 20th, 2015 at 09:54
He can’t be patted like a loyal friend dog, he’s an ungrateful snake who will instead bite you back.

Netanyahu won>>> Peace Lost>>>>Respect Lowered>>>>World View Dropping……
just who won in the end?
jybarz March 20th, 2015 at 09:47
Somebody said Iran.
Pilotshark March 20th, 2015 at 10:21
well it is still playing out and will be for a few more weeks, but at this point it would seem that the hard liners have the upper winning hand at this time.
let`s hope Rouhani will continue to push for an agreement.

America. The blinders are off.
bluejayray March 20th, 2015 at 20:32
Let’s hope. They aren’t even trying to be discreet. Boehner’s heading to Israel to congratulate Bibi personally. I wonder what kind of deals he’ll make behind the President’s back?
Pilotshark March 21st, 2015 at 07:32
Well if not off, lets hope they have been pull down so one can see.

Couldn’t understand why Bibi dislikes and disrespects President Obama and lies about it in words but his actions and demeanor are sadly obvious. I’ve never seen, read or heard President Obama, to this day, said or did anything bad against him or Israel. If anything the president has been an ardent, respectful, loyal and supportive of Israel. Maybe I missed something. But one thing for sure, I find Bibi to be such an ungrateful snake that can’t be trusted nor respected. Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are… Yes, Bibi you’re GOP’s best mate and you’re a snake like they are.
bluejayray March 20th, 2015 at 20:30
Bibi seems to think that our President can’t see or hear him when he pulls stunts like speaking to a joint session of our Congress without the courtesy of letting the President know. I’m proud of our President–I think he’s showing thoughtful restraint. I would have cut them off financially and politically decades ago. They don’t want peace–they want it ALL.

sometimes ‘current political atmospheres’ last a very very very long time, and/or are apt to change at a moments notice.
so-
how’s that ‘standing alone’ going to work in the UN – under the’ current political atmosphere’?
bluejayray March 20th, 2015 at 20:26
These political atmospheres have lasted for thousands of years so far. They won’t change until humans stop believing in gods and demons and using the planet as some kind of giant game board.

well, being that the US relationship with Israel is based heavily on religion, I’m sure the drunken adulterous WHITE RepubliCONs traveling with Boehner will proudly pronounce Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of the USA and Israel, especially being that it’s Jesus’s home turf. If they don’t, I would take it that it’s because they’re ashamed of Him? I just don’t know what to think if they was to go there and be too ashamed to tell the folks in the Knesset to either accept Jesus as personal savior and Lord over all or they’re gonna burn in hell.
bluejayray March 21st, 2015 at 13:58
I’d love to see them go to the Knesset and explain how the jews now need to be fulfilled so that baby jeesus will come again and the apocolypto will rupture and all of that. ..
jybarz March 20th, 2015 at 10:05
It’s never too late to recognize and accept that Bibi is really not into you, President Obama. Don’t despair, America will be much better off. Israel loves and voted him again. Israel and him deserve each other. Love is a two way street and not having love in return is a real bitch, I’m afraid.

Pilotshark March 20th, 2015 at 11:30
sadly that sure seems like 100% true there.
Thomas Davidson March 20th, 2015 at 15:19
This is really what it comes down to, President Obama is right to make every effort to avoid this. Apparently Republicans must agree with this.
Hirightnow March 20th, 2015 at 12:28
Didn’t a bunch of politicians just send a warning to some country in the Middle East stating that the policies of previous administrations wouldn’t necessarily survive the end of those administrations?
bluejayray March 20th, 2015 at 20:23
Yeah–yeah, they did. The Gang of 47. I’m still laughing. Oh I so hope that Obama follows through on this. Supporting Israel–no matter what–is participating in a conspiracy to commit (more) war crimes. And I’d STILL like to know why no one is talking about Israel’s nuclear arsenal. I read today that Boehner is going over there to personally congratulate Bibi–no doubt he’ll make those cute kissy-face noises for him. And I hear that Bibi likes expensive booze on the taxpayer’s dime, so Boehner will feel right at home. And of course Tom Cotton is now scolding Obama that it is not right for him to try to influence another country’s politics…
I laugh myself to sleep these days. Too bad we’ve got a very real country to run.
granpa.usthai March 21st, 2015 at 01:30
well, they only did that because of the ‘current political atmosphere’.
fedele March 20th, 2015 at 12:49
In light of Bibi securing the PM post, again and his speech in Congress and his fear mongering of the Arab vote and his turnarounds when referring to the Palestinians and a two state solution, I say it’s time we close our purse and put that 3 billion dollars to better use here in the US. Since Israel refuses to admit to its own proliferation of nuclear weapons and also refuses to sign the NPT, their “special waiver” to the Symington Amendment should also end. Bibi is an ally in as much a wolf is in sheep’s clothing. I wouldn’t trust a word he says.

The perfect domestic cover to break with these sociopaths.
whatthe46 March 20th, 2015 at 21:04
NOW can we talk about TREASON?

Bibi will still show up with his hand out
