Will The Real Ben Carson Please Stand Up

Will the real Ben Carson please stand up? Okay, why would I devote a whole post to Dr. Ben Carson? I mean seriously it’s not like he has a viable chance of winning the republican nod for president, but I was seriously baffled when he originally got hailed as the African American alternative to Barack Obama. After all Dr. Ben has mockingly asked if Obama was TRULY black. Really? That question alone says a lot about Dr. Ben, but I am more curious about his positions on gay marriage than anything else for this post. Dr. Ben Carson in 2013 said the following on “Hannity” in 2013 in respect to gay marriage equal rights.

“My thoughts are that marriage is between a man and a woman. It’s a well-established fundamental pillar of society and no group be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality. It doesn’t matter what they are, they don’t get to change the definition”

Breaking this down I think it would have been wise for Dr. Ben to just stop after “woman”. I know this topic is a loaded one for both democrats and republicans but asking a person to elaborate on an issue like gay marriage when his religious faith opposes homosexuality is a “no win” proposal for any presidential candidate. But Dr. Ben elaborated claiming that traditional marriage is a pillar of society which is hardly the case considering the divorce rate in the United States is between 40 to 50 percent, but “traditional marriage” between a man and a woman thrown in with the religious overtones of the union “under God” does create problems with those religions which condemn homosexuality. However, for Dr Ben to equate gay Americans seeking marriage to NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) and people who believe in “bestiality” is bizarre and highly offensive. The culminating statement he made back in 2013 that “they don’t get to change the definition” when applied to gay Americans seeking to be married appears to not be the case with states supporting gay marriage. Fast forward to 2015 and today a whopping 38 states accept and recognize the right for gay Americans to marry. This poses a problem for conservatives like Dr. Ben Carson who advocate marriage for heterosexual couples because the momentum is shifting away from their beliefs; but does that eliminate Dr. Ben Carson and other conservatives who believe in traditional marriage from being viable candidates? I don’t believe Dr. Ben’s and other conservatives’ views on traditional marriage is the problem, but rather it’s the way conservative presidential candidates like Dr. Ben Carson try to rationalize it. His conservative base won’t waver on their shared belief of traditional marriage between a man and a woman so why elaborate with his ridiculous comparisons.

But it gets worse for Dr. Ben.

It’s 2015 and we’re more than a year away from the 2016 presidential election, and Dr. Ben appeared on CNN “New Day” and said the following when asked by Chris Cuomo if being gay was a choice:

“Absolutely because a lot of people who go into prison-go into prison straight, and when they come out they’re gay. So did something happen when they were in there?”

What?? No he didn’t say that, did he? Yes he did and he subsequently appeared on Hannity alleging the liberal media press had ambushed him and that in his twenty five minute pre-taped interview he said many important things which were not aired. It was the big bad liberal press going after him and taking out of context what he said, rearranging his words, etc., but when watching the interview none of his allegations ring true.

I delve into this because it’s clear to me that what conservatives don’t seem to understand when it comes to gay marriage is that there is no rationalization for their opposing it other than the fact that their Christian faith condemns it. Dr. Ben Carson is a highly respected neurosurgeon who has reached great success professionally. He was raised in a single parent home, was well educated, and has achieved great success for his hard work and diligence, but when it comes to gay marriage and the debate between gays choosing to be gay or being born with that proclivity he comes off as a bumbling fool. Dr. Ben claims that “we’re being crucified by political correctness” and that there’s an unwillingness to tell the truth, but if what he’s said about gay marriage and being gay as a conscious choice (with his prison example) is reflective of “his truth” then he should stop apologizing and stand firm in his beliefs.

To be honest…the man is seriously ill…not in the sarcastic sense, but has a real problem dealing with reality.. How do you go from being a leading pediatric neurosurgeon to a right wing loon with a tentative touch with reality in the science department …At least he was aware enough to get out of medicine before he hurt some one

That was a very astute comment my friend!

His personal beliefs and justifications are bizarrely offensive on this topic.

As I said..he was rational enough to get out of surgery…he knows

This guy is a waste. He wasted his brilliant medical record and now wasting his time & energy wanting to be a presidential candidate. Intelligent, but not really smart. What a waste.

An attention seeker who gave up a career that made people treat him as a King to run for President and Pope of the US. He misses all God like power and worship he had as a neuro surgeon.

    I put him in the genus species category, Phonious balonious when he produced this interview;

    Carson:
“Will you listen? You have to take a long-term look at the ascent of something that fundamentally changes the power structure of America. You have to be someone who reads. Who is well-read. I want you to go back tonight. I want you to pull out what Saul Alinsky says about health care under the control of the government.”
    Interview with Evan Gahr

The book is only 196 pages, one would think before he spouts off such provable nonsense, claiming to be “well read” “educated” on the topic, while demonstrating
that he either has NEVER read, and is totally uneducated on the topic, or is
    blatantly lying.

Carson claims bestiality, NAMBLA/pedophiles and Gay as being the exact same.
Carson claims being Gay is a choice.
If we take him at his word, that means that he is at constant war with his impure thoughts about molesting children and animals.
It takes a brave man to publicly admit he has the desire to molest animals, especially the young ones.
