DES MOINES — In the space of a 20-minute interview at the Iowa agricultural summit that drew numerous potential GOP candidates for president, Gov. Chris Christie on Saturday gave a glimpse of his national stands on taxes and immigration, railed against federal environmental regulations and took some more shots at President Obama. And he got heckled…

I think that the President has done a hell of a job with the economy, and the facts are out there if Christie would bother to look. Of course facts don’t fit into his narrative any more than truth fits into O’Reilly’s war stories. And as for 2% growth? If Mittens had been elected, we’d be in the Second Great Depression now.
canyonlobo March 27th, 2015 at 23:39
But, but, but….Romney wears magic underwear! Surely you didn’t take into account how that would have affected Growth.
bluejayray March 29th, 2015 at 15:31
You make an excellent point!
edmeyer_able March 8th, 2015 at 12:11
christies plan would be to go back to the bush policies that created the mess in the first place.
Bill_1 March 8th, 2015 at 12:25
Christie has the solution, just look at the 8 credit rating downgrades he managed to accomplish in his home state.
William March 8th, 2015 at 12:32
I think he’s just talking about New Jersey.
Gindy51 March 8th, 2015 at 12:34
Christie who?
raypc800 March 8th, 2015 at 12:35
Christie is nothing more then a very angry fat man that knows that he is becoming less then relevant to the 2016 Presidential elections. He is watching his political career spiraling down the sewer and worries about possible jail time as well.
arc99 March 8th, 2015 at 13:02
as someone married to a wonderful woman who has struggled with weight all of her life, I must ask, Gov. Christie’s size is relevant how?
raypc800 March 8th, 2015 at 13:11
As I am overweight myself and have been for years his weight is a factor in his emotional behavior. The fact that his political career is in the toilet combined with societies pressures of what is perceived as normal. These factors put more stress upon Christie resulting in him having self doubts and for most people eating more to handle the stress. When he looks in the mirror he does not like what he sees. Until he does feel comfortable with his self image. He will remain an angry fat man thus this is a description of him that is accurate. By scientific standards he is fat or if you prefer obese.
Kick Frenzy March 26th, 2015 at 10:25
But you theory doesn’t hold water.
Yes, he”s overweight, but he’s lost a lot of weight over the past year or two.
A persons weight has nothing to do with how they govern.
I hate Christie as much as the next New Jerseyan with more than 2 brain cells, but I refuse to be a bully.
(Christie has a monopoly on that behavior anyway.)
(Edit: I just realized this is over 2 weeks old… d’oh!)
canyonlobo March 27th, 2015 at 23:37
You touch on some reality. Christie’s weight gives him a low self-esteem problem People like this compensate by putting other people down. Overweight people don’t have to be jerks – Christie certainly is.
canyonlobo March 27th, 2015 at 23:35
Because he is a classless jerk.
jybarz March 8th, 2015 at 12:49
For Christ’s sake, Christie, tell the truth for once. The recovery is terrific, the GOP caused recession was horrible. So why don’t you criticize the recession instead of the recovery? Dumb fkn A-hole!
oldfart March 8th, 2015 at 12:54
he’s jealous and has no billionaire to call his own.
unless you count all the money he wanted to make in,
1, the “leftover” cash from sandy or,
2 that sweetheart deal with Exxon or
3 raiding state pension funds.
business as usual.
rg9rts March 8th, 2015 at 13:03
He does hang out in Dallas a lot
Candide Thirtythree March 9th, 2015 at 00:44
Squeezing them oranges!
KABoink_after_wingnut_hacker March 8th, 2015 at 12:56
Facts don’t matter when you have a republican base that is superstitious, stupid as a bag of lint and driven only by hate & fear.
Jack E Raynbeau March 8th, 2015 at 22:08
The Mittster misspoke. He meant that he would have the *employment* rate down to 6%.
Thomas Davidson March 8th, 2015 at 12:58
How can these idiot republicans improve anything, when apparently, they don’t know what improvement looks like?.
tracey marie March 8th, 2015 at 14:38
very good
rg9rts March 8th, 2015 at 13:02
The Fatman speaks whole New Jersey goes down the tubes.. and his approval rating is nearing single digits.
dave-dr-gonzo March 8th, 2015 at 13:03
This from the prime character in the worst recovery from a bridge scandal in world history. Funny!
Obewon March 8th, 2015 at 16:19
Educating Christie: N.J. is now the 2nd Slowest in USA Job Growth!
August 22, 2014. New Jersey gained just 13,600 jobs between July 2013 and July 2014, for a growth rate of just .3% for the year. This trails only Alaska over the same period (but ties with Nebraska and New Mexico). Over the same period nearby states of New York and Pennsylvania grew at rates of 1.3% and .9%, respectively. http://njdatabank.newark.rutgers.edu/householdincome
tracey marie March 8th, 2015 at 14:38
the poor guy, he knows he is toast and will never be President so he attacks the man who is better them him in everyway
pignose4.0 March 8th, 2015 at 15:29
“the best recovery from a republican caused recession in modern history”
Obewon March 8th, 2015 at 15:33
“N.J. 47th in U.S. jobs creation”-BLS March 2014. Factchecking Christie always proves his pathological dishonesty. GWB’s 2008 $12.7 T shrinking – 9% APR U.S. GDP. Vs the Obama/Dem stimulus creating 70% of 12 M+ private jobs skyrocketing USA’s record $17.5 T 2014 GDP growing +5.4% GDP = +$5 T! (Christie’s feigned “recovery’s 2% annual growth in gross domestic product.” would have delivered +$1 T GDP after 5 years:)
alpacadaddy March 8th, 2015 at 16:17
Iowa may be America’s Heartland, but it certainly isn’t the ‘brain-land!’
Rebags & Tealinquents voicing their righteous indignation over the fact that O hasn’t cleaned up BushChenCo’s mess fast enough is about as factually accurate as looking for real journalism on Faux Noise!
fahvel March 9th, 2015 at 04:32
why is iowa used as a barometer in a country where most people live in megalopolis?
thinkingwomanmillstone March 9th, 2015 at 08:22
I’m not sure about that…the state makes a mint off of a caucus that is not at all accurately predictive of who will be president. It’s a small state that has nothing to offer a candidate due to demographics, yet the Republicans spend an exorbitant amount of time and money to compete to be named Miss Iowa Caucus. Just ask President Santorum, President Huckabee and President Dole how they feel about the time and money they spent in Iowa. It also gets more coverage for Iowa than they get over the price of pork belly futures. It certainly has turned into a reactionary, bigoted mean spirited collection of people….I guess that’s what attracts the national republican party members.
Ronald Woolever March 8th, 2015 at 18:06
Actually this is the strongest recovery on record. I will admit though it would have ended a lot sooner if the cons didn’t constantly put up road blocks. Funny how two years ago when Christie was running for reelection, he went out of his way to praise Obama. Of course then he was running in a blue state not for the presidential nomination to the Republiclown party.
Tim Coolio March 8th, 2015 at 22:08
Yeah right, he forgets how the rightwing haters block and obstruct anything that might help with the recovery!
hurt the workers then come election time tell them VOTE FOR US, WE’RE YOUR FRIENDS, WE’RE ON YOUR SIDE!
cogitoergodavesum March 8th, 2015 at 23:46
Why is he being asked about ANYTHING other than Exxon??
canyonlobo March 27th, 2015 at 23:31
Precisely! Why not!
Candide Thirtythree March 9th, 2015 at 00:23
His party put us in the worst recession in modern history and he has the balls to complain that Obama is not cleaning it up fast enough?
Typical republican!
