Did President Obama Just Smack Mitt Romney Right Out Of The 2016 Presidential Race?

It was Obi Wan Kenobi who first said, “If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine,” but so far, it is President Barack Obama who has made good on that promise, following up his party’s disastrous 2014 midterm losses with a swaggering stride and a string of victories to back it up. Now, it looks like along with the Keystone pipeline and the last remnant of the Cold War, Obama can add Mitt Romney’s would-be third presidential bid to his pile of trophies.

At Thursday’s House Democratic Issues Conference, the supposedly lame duck even bragged about the influence he’s having on the party that allegedly lame-duckified him, and on one Republican in particular:

“We’ve got a former presidential candidate on the other side who suddenly is just deeply concerned about poverty. (Laughter.) That’s great! Let’s go! Come on! Let’s do something about it!”

Romney took to Twitter several hours later to respond to the jab:

That’s President Obama, Mitt. Racist much?

Despite his rapier Twitter skills, though, it would barely be twelve hours before…READ MORE

to suggest Romney created more jobs then he took could suggest Julius Cesar was a world wide faith healer

Oh you want to cherry pick how much people make, and how long they work?
I suggest you do a google search. When and IF you discover a great conflict in the economic progress of this nation, and what’s being reported please post it, send an E-mail to Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck. Until then continue to click your heels together, clench your eyes shut and repeat “I hope he fails, I hope he fails”.

You can post all the “opinions” you want. As for me, I’m going to celebrate actual numbers.
Better luck next time. Guess it’s time for you Limbaugh lickers to start rattling the Benghazi keys again huh?

            • GreatLakeSailor February 2nd, 2015 at 12:10

It’s funny you knee-jerking with Right Wing tags – you might want to check your compass heading there Corrigan.

While it is generally true, all righties disparage The President on all things, the converse is not: not all criticisms of The President come from the right (see also: The Nation, The Progressive, The Real News Network, DissidentVoice, FireDogLake, etc., etc.). Or if I want to get down to your level: why do you hate Senator Warren, Senator Sanders, Union Members and working people?

You didn’t read the post at DKos, did you? Calling the poster, gjohnsit, a rightie is…well…how to put this politely…ignorant. Had you read it, you would have noticed that it is backed by numbers (charts too!). What it does not do is take a couple of top-line metrics that show well and declare economic victory for all.

Have you seen the Thomas Frank piece at Salon?

It’s not just Fox News: How liberal apologists torpedoed change, helped make the Democrats safe for Wall Street
Center-left pundits have carried water for the president for six years. Their predictable excuses all ring hollow | Thomas Frank
              http://www.salon.com/2015/01/11/its_not_just_fox_news_how_liberal_apologists_torpedoed_change_helped_make_the_democrats_safe_for_wall_street/

Frank points out four types of Obamapologist. Which one are you?

PS: SpiritofAmerica is a right wing turd tosser to be sure, but that does not mean that all criticisms are unfounded. Pretending the economy is working well for most people by posting memes trumpeting topline metrics does not make it so for the 60%+ of Americans still suffering from the Obama-indemnified Wall Street Gamblers.

Lefties celebrate progress and finally coming out of the hole 8 years of frat boy politics drove us into.

Righties snarl, whine and curse the same progress.

They hate the president more than they love their country.

Ignorance is bliss only to the ignorant.

By your comment, I assume you consider yourself a Lefty. Sticking strictly with economics, not social issues, do you consider The President a Lefty? I sure don’t. Summers, Geuthner, Lew, Berneke, Pritzker, Weiss. TPP, TAFTA, TISA, shilling for the CitiBank Gambling Indemnification w/Dimon, foot dragging on the meager reforms of Dodd-Frank, pathetically ineffective SEC & Regulators (remember Warren calling out the spineless regulators in one of those viral videos? Those “Regulators” serve at the pleasure of The President.). O is a Right Wing Democrat, an Economic Royalist and Robert Rubin’s lap dog.

I’ll take Stiglitz, Warren & Sanders, Piketty, Krugman, Keynes, Sawant, Shenker-Osorio. No thanks to the whole “Boardroom Liberal” Supply-Siders.

I assume you consider yourself a Lefty. ……and of course you’d be wrong. I am an independent. It’s a Maine thing (you wouldn’t understand, see Angus King).

                    “Sticking strictly with economics”

Oh SUDDENLY you don’t think it’s so much of an issue anymore?

Is it because the ACA didn’t bankrupt the nation as the right predicted?

                    Or…

is it because we have enjoyed an unprecedented job growth under a *gasp*. liberal President?

No matter how hard you try to explain it away the facts are clear.

This President is not a Socialist, Kenyan Muslim. There are no death panels, or FEMA camps. You can still get sprinkles on doughnuts and filament light bulbs. Gas isn’t 5 dollars a gallon, and we’re not dying of Ebola.

The Benghazi and IRS investigation revealed absolutely no culpability on the part of the white house. There is no Sharia law in the USA.

Suddenly you want to label the President as a “Right Wing Democrat”

                    Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha.

You’re funny, clinging to the painfully erroneous notion that because I criticize Obama for his Wall Street pandering and protection, that I must, MUST!, be a teabagger. It’s outside your Overton window; it can not be that a progressive would not call a record stock market & unprecedented corporate profits a “win” for Main Street, ain’t it?

Just because Bush was the worst thing to happen to the US in pretty near forever, does not, by default, make Obama good for Main Street.
