NRA Supporters Launch Vicious, Misogynistic Twitter Attack On Gun Reform Leader
When Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, was blocked by the NRA on Twitter yesterday, she tweeted it. It shall come as a surprise to no one ever that that was met with a slew of vicious misogynistic remarks by NRA supporters.
The mother of 5 frightens them that much. She’s a beautiful and intelligent woman, so naturally, she’s a threat.
It started with this tweet.
Naturally, that innocuous tweet became a platform to attack the Gun Sense advocate by NRA supporters. The hashtag #ImBlockedByShannonWatts started trending on Twitter.
The alleged human responsible for creating that hashtag is none other than Julie Golob, world shooting champion and author of the book “Shooting While Pregnant.” No, really.
So Ms. Watts is retweeting some vulgar responses to her one tweet.
Oh, this is such a winning strategy.
And this tweet by Katie Pavlich gave the onslaught some legs:
NRA supporters, I have some advice for you. If you want to appear to be female-friendly, don’t call a woman a “Bitch”, a “cunt”, “twat’ or tell her she needs to “get back in the kitchen.”
Include “bimbo” to the list of things not to call a woman.
Ms. Watts isn’t too worried about the vicious attack.

Thanks to NRA lobbying, the CDC is not allowed to collect significant data on shootings. They can only use what appears in hospital reports and death certificates. And just a side note – where does it say she’s fears you or the NRA?

I am trying to moderate 900 comments and reply in a civil yet concise manner. I have not blocked you or deleted any of your posts. You’ll have to excuse the curt manner but I don’t have the time. This story is about the horrific social media postings received by a woman, a mother committed to a cause for a safer world.
You and many of your like-minded friends seem to be overlooking this fact. Is this kind of attack on an individual okay with you? Because I have not once seen you decry this behavior, only cast aspersions about her intentions, honesty and financial backing. So you’ll have to forgive me if I skip the integrity question.

You however appear to be selectively enforcing board rules by using some sort of internal compass and a reliance on how closely the offender matches up with your particular belief system.

We lean left – we want reasonable regulations on firearms so children can live. In many aspects, it’s if you’re not with us you’re against us. I am more than willing to discuss ideas to reduce gun violence. You are more interested in “us vs them” political theater and demonizing your supposed opposition. Integrity and ethics be damned, we have an agenda to run!
