NRA Supporters Launch Vicious, Misogynistic Twitter Attack On Gun Reform Leader

Posted by | December 27, 2014 15:15 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

When Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, was blocked by the NRA on Twitter yesterday, she tweeted it. It shall come as a surprise to no one ever that that was met with a slew of vicious misogynistic remarks by NRA supporters.

Even though the NRA claims Watts is an insignificant threat to their organization, they found it necessary to block her on social media.

The mother of 5 frightens them that much. She’s a beautiful and intelligent woman, so naturally, she’s a threat.

It started with this tweet.

Naturally, that innocuous tweet became a platform to attack the Gun Sense advocate by NRA supporters. The hashtag #ImBlockedByShannonWatts started trending on Twitter.
The alleged human responsible for creating that hashtag is none other than Julie Golob, world shooting champion and author of the book “Shooting While Pregnant.” No, really.

So Ms. Watts is retweeting some vulgar responses to her one tweet.

Oh, this is such a winning strategy.

And this tweet by Katie Pavlich gave the onslaught some legs:

NRA supporters, I have some advice for you. If you want to appear to be female-friendly, don’t call a woman a “Bitch”, a “cunt”, “twat’ or tell her she needs to “get back in the kitchen.”

Include “bimbo” to the list of things not to call a woman.

Ms. Watts isn’t too worried about the vicious attack.

Big thanks to my pal out there for collecting the tweets. You rock.

Its incredibly sad to see how many weak minded people blindly believe and follow someone like the professional liar Shannon Watts. Her recent claim of ” being blocked by the NRA means your winning” is perhaps the most laughable thing she has said all year. By her own metric ” being blocked means your winning”, Pro Gun Groups and their followers have been crushing Shannon and Moms Demand and Everytown since day one, since it is a verifiable FACT that the groups immediately block the posts of ANYONE that dare question the gun grabber dogma.

She’s a hired gun, an attractive, professional PR expert LIAR that lives in a lilly white gated community of mansions and hires ARMED body guards. Its not that she’s Anti Gun, she’s just Anti Gun for whoever she and her puppetmaster Bloomberg dont approve of .

There can be no ” reasonable discussion” , no ” compromise” , no ” working together” until such time as Shannon and other Gun Control Groups cease and desist their numerous lies. What are they afraid of ?

    • Anomaly 100 December 27th, 2014 at 21:43

“There can be no ” reasonable discussion” , no ” compromise” , no ” working together”

      You just described the NRA.

      • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 21:53

No, I just described the feelings of 100 million American gun owners who are sick and tired of the bigotry, threats, insults, slurs and LIES that are said about them as if they are gospel truth.

        • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 21:57

The same bigotry, threats, insults, slurs and LIES you all and THE NRA throw at anyone who doesn’t agree with you that are said as if they are gospel truth.

          • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 21:58

Not even close mshare, not by a long shot. You do know the difference between a difference of opinion and an outright LIE dont you ? Gun Control Groups have been caught lying time and time again. Sometimes they even proudly and openly admit to their deliberate deception

            • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:07

And the NRA has been caught time and time again lying. Don’t tell no, because I have a friend who is a member and actually gets all of the NRA’s racist, to say the least, little memos to everyone with some pretty disturbing and insane LIES, to say the least and then all the other little emails with all the outrage and gun victimhood cards and how to play them. So, don’t bother.

              • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:20

Sorry mshare, since no one has anyway to verify your ” friend of a friends ” claims, your comment has no purpose. The NRA is ” racist ” huh ? Which is why one of their most popular commentators is a black man, which explains why they publicly supported and fought for Shaneen Allen, the single black mom from Philly who was being railroaded by NJ. But the NRA is “racist” . Your obviously not even bright enough to realize that claiming the race card over every thing under the sun deeply diminishes the actual events of racism.

April 2012 interview with NPR, Sarah Brady openly admits that her group is not interested in pressuring the Fed Govt to prosecute the felons who lied on a background check form ( thereby committing another felony) when they tried to buy a firearm. 1989 interview by Josh Sugarmann, Executive Director of the Anti Gun Group Violence Policy Center who openly admitted to deceiving the American Public ” Assault weapons’ menacing
looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine
guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons –anything that looks like a
machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun– can only increase the
chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons. “

I’m a liberal gun owner who believes we need some sort of controls. Does that fit into your world?

          • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:19

This year for Xmas, we got my youngest son a new holster and a conceal carry training class (with a proficiency component). I cannot believe that asking for this to be required is unreasonable.

            • neworleans878 December 27th, 2014 at 22:30

              Neither can I.

And I know how you feel about this, Miss Carla.

    • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 21:51

Amazing how many blindly follow her given her relationship with Monsanto.

    • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 21:51

The real question is what are you and the NRA afraid of? Yeah, you and all the NRA hired minions that post on everything, everywhere. It’s you who are afraid. And you who are the fools who have bought, lock, stock and barrel (pun fully intended) the NRA terrorist mission to destroy anyone who has a difference of opinion or opposes you. Do you all look at ISIS and see yourself looking back? You should. That’s you. You’re exactly like them. And you and the NRA are terrorists. Period.

      • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 21:54

Me. ? Im not afraid of a damn thing. I have no reason to fear anything

        • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 21:55

          Then why be here?

          • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 21:56

Oh, I wasnt aware that one needed to be afraid of something in order to comment here. Sooo. What are you afraid of ?

            • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:00

No, why are you here? What have you got to say that hasn’t been said a million times before by the NRA. What are you proving?

              • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:03

Im not speaking for the NRA though, Im speaking for myself, as a critical thinking, logical American, as well as a victim of ” gun crime” twice over, once as the Great Grandson of a murder victim and once from being robbed at gun point as a young man.

                • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:15

Yeah, right. Oh, boo hoo, I’ve been robbed at gun point, too. I saw a man gun whipped and almost killed. And no one says get rid of guns, totally. Good God, you’d all freak out and shoot police and then some and it’d be Bundy Ranch on roids. But background checks? You can’t conceive of what was once thought about by NRA literally back in the 1930s at the beginning as some sort of common sense? My freaking God, even Wyatt Earp restricted guns from his town. But you SEE EVERYTHING as a threat? You can’t come to some middle ground? You can’t see some “sense” in some potential of keeping guns out of truly freaking crazy or criminal hands? Seriously? That’s gonna kill ya?

                  • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:32

For knowing absolutely NOTHING about me, my views or my stance on almost any topic, you have just also helpfully proved my earlier point that Gun Control supporters will happily lump any and all gun owners into one group, while decrying the stereotyping of other groups because of the actions of a few.

When did I ever say I see ” everything as a threat ” ? I have been background checked more times than I can count. I have security clearance to be on Military Bases, Nuclear Power Plants, and major Ports. Im authorized to transport tens of thousands of pounds of the nastiest, most toxic, most explosive materials known to man, that could wipe out a small town in a single act.

I am fully supportive of mental health background info being cross checked during a gun purchase, PROVIDED that there are clear avenues of appeal, considering labeling people as “mental cases” is a tried and true tactic to silence political opposition, perfected by the Soviets.

I DO however believe in the Oath I swore, as well as in being prepared for any eventuality

                    • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:33

Ditto. Change names, nouns, etc. Shall we dance?

      • Guest December 27th, 2014 at 21:56

You really know nothing about gun owners. The only time we come out is when we are attacked. usually we like to be left alone and we grant you the same respect.

        • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 21:57

          B I N G O ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

        • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:03

No you don’t. You never grant anyone the same respect. That’s pretty damn clear. THAT I do know about gun owners. No, I take that back. Gun owners is too broad. There are some gun owners out there who do want to see background checks and some sane response. No, you, the NRA, don’t grant the same respect. And you KNOW it.

          • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:04

Clearly you are unaware that the ” overwhelming majority of NRA members support universal background checks” is yet another bold faced lie.

            • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:08

There you have it. I didn’t say NRA. Did I?

              • Thom Clark December 27th, 2014 at 22:19

Ummm yeah, you did. In the first post on this thread.
The NRA doesn’t hire attack dogs like Bloomburg does.

            • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:14

Again, links or I can only assume you’re lying.

              • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:30

You know what they say about ASSumptions Carla

                • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:40

Yes I do, That you cannot back up your claims and that you’re an ass.

          • Guest December 27th, 2014 at 22:07

Can you tell me what a background check is?

          • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 22:12

Respect is earned, not given freely. Your labeling of people you do not even know a “terrorist” makes it difficult for others to take you seriously yet alone to show you any respect…

          • Guest December 27th, 2014 at 22:12

love when people talk about background checks and when you ask them to explain they can’t they have to go Google it lol

          • Thom Clark December 27th, 2014 at 22:16

We already have background checks in place. Your idea of sane is not even close to being sane.

            • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:20

              Pffffft. Depends on the state.

              • Thom Clark December 31st, 2014 at 20:52

pffffffft not as much as Anti-gunners hope people will believe.

      • VicDog December 27th, 2014 at 22:01

So now we are terrorists! That is unacceptable to say.

        • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:04

NOT at all. Because you act EXACTLY like terrorists.

          • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 22:10

mshare – what actions do law-abiding gun owners commit that causes you to live in fear/terror? You will find that most of us simply want to be left alone to live our lives. How is that instilling terror in others?

            • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:16

Carrying around a long gun in a grcoery store? You don’t think that many, many people – especially children find this frightening?

              • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:16

                Amen!

              • VicDog December 27th, 2014 at 22:25

Have you personally ever seen a long gun in a grocery store?

                • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:39

Yes, several times but never at a Krogers – they don’t have any in Kansas City.

              • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 22:31

Educations goes a long way towards reducing fear of the unknown in children (and adults).

                • SoTiredOfPolitics December 27th, 2014 at 22:33

Kids don’t need to see guns in a grocery store or in a place like Target. Period. Education has nothing to do with that.

                  • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 22:35

So police or armored truck guards shouldn’t be seen in these places either?

                    • SoTiredOfPolitics December 27th, 2014 at 22:38

Is their official job capacity connected with being armed? Yes. Duh.

                    • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:39

Again, invalid. Right or wrong we are taught from childhood that policemen are good – protectors. We assume they have the training and skill to use their weapon and will only do so to protect and keep us safe. Weird Charlie the neighbor guy down the street, he doesn’t get the same consideration.

                • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:37

Not a valid argument. My entire family are gun owners, but I have no idea what the nutjob walking down the frozen aisle has running through their head. You don’t need a gun at Krogers.

            • whatthe46 December 27th, 2014 at 22:17

i don’t know. how about shooting up schools or movie theatres, etc. as far as i know, 1st graders aren’t a threat to anyone.

              • VicDog December 27th, 2014 at 22:25

How many of those were legal gun owners?

              • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:28

Neither of the shooters involved in those incidents were ” law abiding gun owners”. In fact, they both committed numerous felonies in furtherance of their criminal acts. Interestingly enough, both individuals, as well as nearly every other mass shooter in the Country was suffering severe mental illness, something no one wants to have a serious discussion about since blaming in animate objects is easier

                • VicDog December 27th, 2014 at 22:30

Exactly, I wonder what additional law would have made them go, Hmmm.. I better not do this!

                • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:36

None has blamed the gun, only the gun owners, which is exactly why we feel there should be more regulation.

                  • whatthe46 December 27th, 2014 at 23:08

regulation is not a part of their vocabulary.

          • VicDog December 27th, 2014 at 22:13

I’ve never hurt anybody or committed any crimes. So it’s just an odd statement.

            • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:19

No, it’s not. I’ve been called more names than I can think of and people have been threatened because they went against the NRA? Literally threatened with their life? Perhaps not you. But you all pretend it’s all okay, it’s not me…but then there are these threats……? LOOK above. The article we are discussing. WTF?!!!!!!!!

As I said, funny how gun threads bring out the nuts.

I guess I’m not a real American for wishing for a start to reasonable discussion.

So, don’t bother.

              • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 23:20

          • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:19

This year for Xmas, we got my youngest son a new holster and a conceal carry training class (with a proficiency component). I cannot believe that asking for this to be required is unreasonable.

            • nola878 December 27th, 2014 at 23:30

              Neither can I.

And I know how you feel about this, Miss Carla.

    • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 22:51

Amazing how many blindly follow her given her relationship with Monsanto.

    • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:51

The real question is what are you and the NRA afraid of? Yeah, you and all the NRA hired minions that post on everything, everywhere. It’s you who are afraid. And you who are the fools who have bought, lock, stock and barrel (pun fully intended) the NRA terrorist mission to destroy anyone who has a difference of opinion or opposes you. Do you all look at ISIS and see yourself looking back? You should. That’s you. You’re exactly like them. And you and the NRA are terrorists. Period.

      • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:54

Me. ? Im not afraid of a damn thing. I have no reason to fear anything

        • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 22:55

          Then why be here?

          • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:56

Oh, I wasnt aware that one needed to be afraid of something in order to comment here. Sooo. What are you afraid of ?

            • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 23:00

No, why are you here? What have you got to say that hasn’t been said a million times before by the NRA. What are you proving?

              • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 23:03

Im not speaking for the NRA though, Im speaking for myself, as a critical thinking, logical American, as well as a victim of ” gun crime” twice over, once as the Great Grandson of a murder victim and once from being robbed at gun point as a young man.

                • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 23:15

                  • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 23:32

                    • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 23:33

Ditto. Change names, nouns, etc. Shall we dance?

      • Guest December 27th, 2014 at 22:56

You really know nothing about gun owners. The only time we come out is when we are attacked. usually we like to be left alone and we grant you the same respect.

        • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:57

          B I N G O ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

        • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 23:03

No you don’t. You never grant anyone the same respect. That’s pretty damn clear. THAT I do know about gun owners. No, I take that back. Gun owners is too broad. There are some gun owners out there who do want to see background checks and some sane response. No, you, the NRA, don’t grant the same respect. And you KNOW it.

          • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 23:04

Clearly you are unaware that the ” overwhelming majority of NRA members support universal background checks” is yet another bold faced lie.

            • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 23:08

There you have it. I didn’t say NRA. Did I?

              • Thom Clark December 27th, 2014 at 23:19

Ummm yeah, you did. In the first post on this thread.
The NRA doesn’t hire attack dogs like Bloomburg does.

Yes I do, That you cannot back up your claims and that you’re an ass.

          • Guest December 27th, 2014 at 23:07

Can you tell me what a background check is?

          • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 23:12

Respect is earned, not given freely. Your labeling of people you do not even know a “terrorist” makes it difficult for others to take you seriously yet alone to show you any respect…

          • Guest December 27th, 2014 at 23:12

love when people talk about background checks and when you ask them to explain they can’t they have to go Google it lol

          • Thom Clark December 27th, 2014 at 23:16

We already have background checks in place. Your idea of sane is not even close to being sane.

            • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 23:20

              Pffffft. Depends on the state.

              • Thom Clark December 31st, 2014 at 21:52

pffffffft not as much as Anti-gunners hope people will believe.

      • VicDog December 27th, 2014 at 23:01

So now we are terrorists! That is unacceptable to say.

        • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 23:04

NOT at all. Because you act EXACTLY like terrorists.

          • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 23:10

mshare – what actions do law-abiding gun owners commit that causes you to live in fear/terror? You will find that most of us simply want to be left alone to live our lives. How is that instilling terror in others?

            • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:16

Carrying around a long gun in a grcoery store? You don’t think that many, many people – especially children find this frightening?

              • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 23:16

                Amen!

              • VicDog December 27th, 2014 at 23:25

Have you personally ever seen a long gun in a grocery store?

                • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:39

Yes, several times but never at a Krogers – they don’t have any in Kansas City.

              • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 23:31

Educations goes a long way towards reducing fear of the unknown in children (and adults).

                • SoTiredOfPolitics December 27th, 2014 at 23:33

Kids don’t need to see guns in a grocery store or in a place like Target. Period. Education has nothing to do with that.

                  • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 23:35

So police or armored truck guards shouldn’t be seen in these places either?

                    • SoTiredOfPolitics December 27th, 2014 at 23:38

Is their official job capacity connected with being armed? Yes. Duh.

                    • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:39

Again, invalid. Right or wrong we are taught from childhood that policemen are good – protectors. We assume they have the training and skill to use their weapon and will only do so to protect and keep us safe. Weird Charlie the neighbor guy down the street, he doesn’t get the same consideration.

                • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:37

Not a valid argument. My entire family are gun owners, but I have no idea what the nutjob walking down the frozen aisle has running through their head. You don’t need a gun at Krogers.

            • whatthe46 December 27th, 2014 at 23:17

i don’t know. how about shooting up schools or movie theatres, etc. as far as i know, 1st graders aren’t a threat to anyone.

              • VicDog December 27th, 2014 at 23:25

How many of those were legal gun owners?

              • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 23:28

Neither of the shooters involved in those incidents were ” law abiding gun owners”. In fact, they both committed numerous felonies in furtherance of their criminal acts. Interestingly enough, both individuals, as well as nearly every other mass shooter in the Country was suffering severe mental illness, something no one wants to have a serious discussion about since blaming in animate objects is easier

                • VicDog December 27th, 2014 at 23:30

Exactly, I wonder what additional law would have made them go, Hmmm.. I better not do this!

                • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:36

None has blamed the gun, only the gun owners, which is exactly why we feel there should be more regulation.

                  • whatthe46 December 28th, 2014 at 00:08

regulation is not a part of their vocabulary.

          • VicDog December 27th, 2014 at 23:13

I’ve never hurt anybody or committed any crimes. So it’s just an odd statement.

            • mshare December 27th, 2014 at 23:19

No, it’s not. I’ve been called more names than I can think of and people have been threatened because they went against the NRA? Literally threatened with their life? Perhaps not you. But you all pretend it’s all okay, it’s not me…but then there are these threats……? LOOK above. The article we are discussing. WTF?!!!!!!!!

          • Thom Clark December 27th, 2014 at 23:14

  3. Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:01

The left insists that it is wrong to stereotype an entire group of people because of the actions of a few, i.e. Blacks vs Gang Bangers, Muslims vs Terrorists, etc. Yet strangely, they have absolutely NO problem whatsoever with blaming every gun owner in the Country for the actions of the criminally insane. Epic Hypocrisy in action

    • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 22:10

      You are such a victim.

      • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:13

Never claimed I was a victim of anything bobrobertson. Why dont you try addressing the rampant hypocrisy instead of changing the subject ?

        • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 22:17

We see you and your “open carry” insecure freaks.
They are all NRAcists. Groupthink is what you do.
Bet you never defended yourself once with a gun, but are so scared you sleep with one.

          • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:25

Its a shame we didnt make a bet bobrobertson, cause you would have just lost. I’ve used a firearm in self defense three times, never once needing to fire a shot. Interesting how you prove my earlier point by lumping everyone that owns guns into the ” open carry insecure freaks” like I said, blatant hypocrisy

            • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 22:26

              But enough about your sister.

              • Dan Roberts December 27th, 2014 at 22:38

got it, so in typical fashion, you have no actual defense, you have nothing to contribute in a constructive manner, so you resort to insults. Sigh…………………………. so predictable

                • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 22:43

All you are is a scared little boy who sees everything as a threat.
Can’t help it if I’m not afraid.

                • Independent December 27th, 2014 at 22:51

Don’t let it bother you Dan…just another brainless liberal troll.

              • Independent December 27th, 2014 at 22:50

                Obvious troll is obvious…

          • Independent December 27th, 2014 at 22:50

            Nothing but incoherent blabber…

      • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 22:21

        Bob – why so defensive?

BTW, you automatically lose the argument when you call someone a “racist”.

        • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 22:25

You should be proud of your racism.
Only conservatives are allowed in the KKK.

          • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 22:34

Stay on topic bobby…. We aren’t discussing the organization formed by southern Democrats. Well, actually the NRA was involved as they supported gun ownership of minorities to defend themselves. MLK was a strong supporter of the 2nd (and other) amendments…

            • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 22:38

And that really helped him out.If he ever “open carried” the conservatives would have killed him.
              Oh, that’s right, they did.

              • Independent December 27th, 2014 at 22:49

                Who did bobbio?

                • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 22:55

Conservative hero James Earl Ray did.

            • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:44

In both cases, old NRA and old Democrats. The Dixiecrats became the Republican Party and the NRA got LaIPierre and big fat kickbacks from gun manufacturers.

              • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 22:47

Interesting that the largest group against the CRA was the Democratic party.

“June 10, 1964, was a dramatic day in the United States Senate. For the
first time in its history, cloture was invoked on a civil rights bill,
ending a record-breaking filibuster by Democrats that had consumed
                fifty-seven working days.”

                • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:51

I believe that’s what I just said. The old Dems (the Dixiecrats).

Name the conservative equivalents of the NAACP and the ACLU, both of which fight for the rights of minorities and are considered liberal.

                  Hint: There aren’t any.

                  • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 22:59

The former is a (by definition) racist organization promoting one race over another (as is La Raza) and the latter is something of an oxymoron in that they won’t take up cases dealing with specific amendments.

The NAACP fights AGAINST racism, and accepts members of all races.

No wonder you don’t like them.

                • jasperjava December 28th, 2014 at 00:26

Funny how you have to go back 50 years to find racist southern conservative Dixiecrats.

They have all defected to the RepubliKKKan party since then. Or have you not noticed that the old Confederacy are now all-solid right-wing racist KKKonservatives RepubliKKKans now? why do you think they’re called Red States?

And before you bring up Robert Byrd: In 2008 Robert Byrd enthusiastically endorsed a mixed-race Black man for President of the United States.

Your arguments are $hit, and you know it. If you don’t know it, you have more problems than you’re aware of.

      You are such a victim.

We see you and your “open carry” insecure freaks.
They are all NRAcists. Groupthink is what you do.
Bet you never defended yourself once with a gun, but are so scared you sleep with one.

          • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 23:34

Stay on topic bobby…. We aren’t discussing the organization formed by southern Democrats. Well, actually the NRA was involved as they supported gun ownership of minorities to defend themselves. MLK was a strong supporter of the 2nd (and other) amendments…

            • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:38

And that really helped him out.If he ever “open carried” the conservatives would have killed him.

            • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:44

In both cases, old NRA and old Democrats. The Dixiecrats became the Republican Party and the NRA got LaIPierre and big fat kickbacks from gun manufacturers.

              • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 23:47

Interesting that the largest group against the CRA was the Democratic party.

“June 10, 1964, was a dramatic day in the United States Senate. For the
first time in its history, cloture was invoked on a civil rights bill,
ending a record-breaking filibuster by Democrats that had consumed

                • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:51

I posted a question regarding one of their statements and was polite, respectful and to the point, and immediately found myself blocked. If you’re going to establish an idealogical echo chamber that allows no views but your own, don’t masquerade when your opponent does the same thing.

Actually I did read it, but since you’re leaping to her defense instead of acknowledging the hypocrisy on both sides, I can only suppose that you’re one of her parrots that can’t think for yourself. If she’s not bothered by it, why did she take the time to create a meme and tout her blocked status? And why does she continue to silence anyone with an opinion other than her own on the MDA page? If you can’t at least acknowledge and discuss other peoples’ views then you’re nothing more than an echo chamber and political zealot. Something we see too much of these days.

We, here at Liberal Land are outraged at the vile spewed at her. And if the postings she gets her on her site are anything like what I’ve seen here tonight – you bet I’d block them too.

That’s the thing-she’s attempting to martyr herself for being blocked by the NRA when she engages in the same behavior. And you’re correct, the comments that were listed were completely out of line and vile. However, the folks from MDA are not short on insulting and juvenile comments either. You can see plenty of them on the MDA page. But there are comments, like mine and many others, who attempt to engage in a civilized, rational and constructive conversation, and debate the issue as it should be, and we are immediately blocked as well. You can’t have it both ways. It’s sad that we can’t have an honest political discussion these days without resorting to gestapo tactics and name-calling. And I blame both sides. I am a proud supporter of the second amendment and a concealed carry license holder, but that doesn’t mean I’m not capable of rational discussion.

All the Mom’s Demand Action folks are clueless tools. I haven’t met an anti yet that knew anything about guns or gun safety.

    • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:46

Exactly how many have you met?

      • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 22:50

Dozens, including a number of now former “anti-gun” people that were either mugged, concerned for their safety or simply decided they wanted to learn more about firearms.

The worst ones are the upper-echelon of “law enforcement” that are more politician than actual law enforcement.

        • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 22:52

Wasn’t asking you but the gentlemen making the very broad generalization.

          • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 22:56

Maybe Indy was painting with a very broad brush but there are many examples of this including DiFi with her finger on the trigger waving it around the audience and then in a class all by himself – CA State Senator Kevin de Leon and his “ghost gun” tirade.

            • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:01

Perhaps but we’ll never know. It seems he’s only here to agitate and not engage in a discussion. He thinks we just should get used to the disappointment.

              • meadmkr December 28th, 2014 at 00:02

Maybe but there are many documented examples of people that are on the anti-2nd platform that have demonstrated either zero knowledge of firearms, firearm safety or simply make things up.
Then there is the public display of hypocrisy in that both Bloomberg and Watts have ARMED security that accompanies them everywhere.

                • SoTiredOfPolitics December 28th, 2014 at 00:40

I’ve shot handguns and rifles on my family farm and with military friends at a range. I support this group in part because I AM familiar with guns. MDA has nothing to do with–nor any responsibility–to “thrill you” with knowledge of guns. That’s not what any of this is about.

    • SoTiredOfPolitics December 27th, 2014 at 22:47

“anti” what? Are you under the mistaken impression that people who want better control over who owns guns are “anti” gun? Hmmm.

      • Independent December 27th, 2014 at 22:53

Yep. Anti-gunner folks. My Constitution Rights are not subject to your whims and wishes. I suggest you get used to that disappointment.

        • SoTiredOfPolitics December 27th, 2014 at 22:55

Sorry, not all those who want better control over who owns guns are anti-gun. Try to contain your cognitive dissonance.

          • bruno December 27th, 2014 at 23:26

truth is some people just want better ”control” where bad guys would not be able to buy legal firearm right?

well sad news, it does not work. not at all actually.
word from canada even with strict policy on firearm we still have some mafia and street gang with illegal full auto rifle that roam the street. lot of raid lately

and banning all firearm does not help look at australia.
but something weird happen when everyone has the right to carry and own fully automatic rifle, look at switzerland.

do i think it could work ? yes
but it will be a huge cost, did cost us 2 billion for only 11 million owner, i wonder how much i would be in the us

            • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:29

How many gun deaths per 1000 in Canada last year?

              • bruno December 28th, 2014 at 00:00

8.31. per 1000 (from index mundi)

can’t compare with firearm on that, because we do not have the right to protect ourself in canada. (AND our police force use pepper spray because they don’t know how to use their service pistol. in quebec the % or requalification (they need to qualify each year to keep on carrying on duty) was really poor, and a lot didn’t do it in years by using a loop hole (basically if they are on duty when the qualification is set they get a free pass)

if someone break in your house you must call the cop, if you touch him you get a criminal record, (even if he tries to kill you or have weapon on him and is dangerous)

we have a case right now where a man (60s) shot warning shot with his 12g because 3 teenager broke into his house armed with bat and knives (late teen if i remember correctly)

every single one of them is getting in trouble.

            • SoTiredOfPolitics December 27th, 2014 at 23:30

You will have to explain your references to other countries, but in the meantime, “bad guys” do not generally roam around shooting up movie theaters and elementary schools. SICK people DO. So MY goal is to keep THEM from getting guns.

              • bruno December 27th, 2014 at 23:54

We can’t rely on helping sick people, however, as the fix.

              • Jay Cee December 28th, 2014 at 03:07

K what is your solution, besides banning certain types of guns, magazine capacity limits, and not limiting the rights of legitimate gun owners? What is the solution? Background checks on all gun owners? Fine, if we accept that concession we also need a concession from your side. Like all states become shall issue, with little to no obstacles to getting a concealed carry permit. Can you accept legal owners to carry unrestricted? I doubt you could, which is proof that the issue is that you and people like you want gun owners to concede more and more of their rights, but you are unwilling to concede anything. And that is the ultimate reason even background checks have a hard time passing into law. Some gun owners would even maybe be willing to accept background checks, but deep down they know that it wouldn’t end there. When the next school shooting happens there would be need for “more” to be done. What would that be, who knows. Whatever some politician makes up in their mind to sound good on paper.

        • edmeyer_able December 27th, 2014 at 22:57

But the constitution gives us the power to limit your rights or are you against the constitution?

          • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:33

Um, please show me where the constitution gives you the power to limit rights… The constitution and Bill of Rights is a list of NEGATIVE rights…meaning it does not limit any rights but those of government. Of course you don’t know that because you are a weak-kneed, lefty stooge…

            • edmeyer_able December 27th, 2014 at 23:35

Maybe you should try reading the constitution before commenting on it, there was once an assault rifle ban in case you were unaware of it.

              • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:36

And? It was unconstitutional then, as well…

                • edmeyer_able December 27th, 2014 at 23:37

If it was why didn’t scotus rule that to be so?

                • edmeyer_able December 27th, 2014 at 23:39

                  Com’on tommy what’s your response?

                  • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:40

I dont know that it ever made it to a scotus ruling… Nor would I trust modern supremes to interpret the constitution in the way it was intended by the framers…

                    • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:41

So slavery should be legal. Women should not be allowed to vote.
Using original intent, you can’t vote either.

                    • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:46

Super sweet strawmen…the constitution was amended and the 3/5 compromise struck…

                    • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:47

You said you want to go back to “original intent”. that’s what the founders agreed on, as well as a “well regulated militia”.

                    • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:48

What the framers intended doesn’t need to be interpreted…they wrote specifically of what the 2nd amendment was about. Take a magical journey and crack a book.

                    • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:53

“Well regulated” is not James earl Ray.
                      Deal with it.

                    • edmeyer_able December 27th, 2014 at 23:42

So a law stood for 10 years w/o the nra challenging tommy…you got nothing.

                    • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:46

Considering at the time, it had the approval of the NRA, yes…I believe it was never challenged.

                    • edmeyer_able December 27th, 2014 at 23:49

tomy you got nothing you only use the 2a to hide behind while denying everyone else the power to do something to protect themselves. you hit someone for using strawmen while erecting your own, go away you wont be answered again at least not by me.

                    • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:51

What I want doesn’t impinge on your rights… What you want impinges on mine. You want the right to disarm people and destroy the 2nd amendment. You retain no such right. People like you enable tyrants and are enemies to liberty. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

                    • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:52

Guns have more rights than schoolchildren.
Guns have more rights than theater goers.
Your right to life? Not so much.

                    • SoTiredOfPolitics December 28th, 2014 at 00:37

Ha! So sorry you don’t get to pick & choose when you want the current scotus to rule on issues.

                  • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:42

My other response is why dont you worry about yourself, instead of worrying about what every one else does… Stop trying to run people’s lives and change their behaviors. If they hurt someone they are guilty…if not leave em alone. Stop being a whiney little busy body who wants to mold everyone into your sensibilities…

                    • edmeyer_able December 27th, 2014 at 23:43

So why are you against the constitution then tommy?

                    • SoTiredOfPolitics December 28th, 2014 at 00:41

“If they hurt someone they are guilty…if not leave em alone.”
                      —–
Right, because charging them with murder SO brings back the dead kids.

                    • Jay Cee December 28th, 2014 at 02:55

Do making more gun laws bring back the dead kids? A background check was done. That gun belonged to Adam Lanzas mother, she went through a background check. She allowed him access to the gun. You want to make a law charging the irresponsible gun owner? Sorry she died. Adam killed himself. So the gun owners that have ar15s must be at fault, they must be banned….

                • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:39

Are flame throwers legal? Machine guns? Missiles?

                  • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:42

Sweet strawmen…but sure…why not…they can be used responsibly. Machine guns are already available to citizens…

                    • edmeyer_able December 27th, 2014 at 23:45

tommy you just spouted 3 strawmen of your own.

            • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:35

I’d also add that the original 10 amendments are not up for rewrite as they were never intended to bestow rights, merely enshrine natural rights of all free people. So no, again, you cannot limit the Bill of Rights.

              • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:37

Gee, and that prohibition thing…hmmm exactly what did they do there -oh they amended the Constitution.

                • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:38

Did prohibition amend the Bill of Rights? No…but at least the people of the time had the respect for rule of law enough to know that an amendment was needed to enforce a prohibition…

              • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:38

Tell me what “well regulated” means to you.

                • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:39

Same thing as a well regulated machine…one that is in working order… Keep spouting the same tired talking points…

                  • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:40

                    So we are machines?

                    • Tom Candelaria December 27th, 2014 at 23:47

I’m done responding to your juvenile debating style

                    • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:49

                      Because you can’t.
You know what a well regulated militia is, and it isn’t Cliven Bundy’s gang.

                    • Jay Cee December 28th, 2014 at 02:46

Well regulated is well armed/trained. They didn’t have gun laws back then, at least not as we know them. There were no “regulations” as we think of them. Guns were needed for protection and for gathering food. It was literally a tool just like a wood axe or a hammer. They needed guns for their survival. That’s why saw fit to include it in the bill of rights. And while we do have modern conveniences today that make guns less important (the reason why some people are quick to just give up the right with the old “I’d never have a gun in the house”), that doesn’t mean everyone has to give up the right because some choose not to exercise them.

              • jasperjava December 28th, 2014 at 00:04

How can firearm ownership be a “natural” right, when firearms were only invented a few centuries ago? Human beings have lived for hundreds of thousands of years without guns. There’s nothing “natural” about them.

                • Jay Cee December 28th, 2014 at 02:39

So something has to have been invented in a certain timeframe to have been protected by the bill of rights? I can see that. Didn’t Diane Fienstein say something stupid about how the protections of he first amendment shouldn’t apply to Internet bloggers because the first amendment only protects legitimate real news “media”. I haven’t heard anymore about it, maybe someone convinced her that she was saying something stupid.

    • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 22:49

Adam Lanza knew all about guns and gun safety. A lifetime NRA member.

        • edmeyer_able December 27th, 2014 at 23:00

But the constitution gives us the power to limit your rights, or are you against the constitution?

        • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:01

      I do. Your point?

  8. Independent December 27th, 2014 at 23:46

All the Mom’s Demand Action folks are clueless tools. I haven’t met an anti yet that knew anything about guns or gun safety.

    • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:46

Exactly how many have you met?

      • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 23:50

Dozens, including a number of now former “anti-gun” people that were either mugged, concerned for their safety or simply decided they wanted to learn more about firearms.

The worst ones are the upper-echelon of “law enforcement” that are more politician than actual law enforcement.

        • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:52

Wasn’t asking you but the gentlemen making the very broad generalization.

          • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 23:56

Maybe Indy was painting with a very broad brush but there are many examples of this including DiFi with her finger on the trigger waving it around the audience and then in a class all by himself – CA State Senator Kevin de Leon and his “ghost gun” tirade.

            • Carla Akins December 28th, 2014 at 00:01

Perhaps but we’ll never know. It seems he’s only here to agitate and not engage in a discussion. He thinks we just should get used to the disappointment.

              • meadmkr December 28th, 2014 at 01:02

Maybe but there are many documented examples of people that are on the anti-2nd platform that have demonstrated either zero knowledge of firearms, firearm safety or simply make things up.
Then there is the public display of hypocrisy in that both Bloomberg and Watts have ARMED security that accompanies them everywhere.

                • SoTiredOfPolitics December 28th, 2014 at 01:40

          Maybe…

          I’ll get back to ya…

        • MattW December 28th, 2014 at 00:36

I’ve shot handguns and rifles on my family farm and with military friends at a range. I support this group in part because I AM familiar with guns. MDA has nothing to do with–nor any responsibility–to “thrill you” with knowledge of guns. That’s not what any of this is about.

    • SoTiredOfPolitics December 27th, 2014 at 23:47

“anti” what? Are you under the mistaken impression that people who want better control over who owns guns are “anti” gun? Hmmm.

      • Independent December 27th, 2014 at 23:53

Yep. Anti-gunner folks. My Constitution Rights are not subject to your whims and wishes. I suggest you get used to that disappointment.

        • SoTiredOfPolitics December 27th, 2014 at 23:55

Sorry, not all those who want better control over who owns guns are anti-gun. Try to contain your cognitive dissonance.

          • bruno December 28th, 2014 at 00:26

truth is some people just want better ”control” where bad guys would not be able to buy legal firearm right?

well sad news, it does not work. not at all actually.
word from canada even with strict policy on firearm we still have some mafia and street gang with illegal full auto rifle that roam the street. lot of raid lately

and banning all firearm does not help look at australia.
but something weird happen when everyone has the right to carry and own fully automatic rifle, look at switzerland.

do i think it could work ? yes
but it will be a huge cost, did cost us 2 billion for only 11 million owner, i wonder how much i would be in the us

            • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:29

How many gun deaths per 1000 in Canada last year?

              • bruno December 28th, 2014 at 01:00

8.31. per 1000 (from index mundi)

can’t compare with firearm on that, because we do not have the right to protect ourself in canada.

            • SoTiredOfPolitics December 28th, 2014 at 00:30

You will have to explain your references to other countries, but in the meantime, “bad guys” do not generally roam around shooting up movie theaters and elementary schools. SICK people DO. So MY goal is to keep THEM from getting guns.

              • bruno December 28th, 2014 at 00:54

        • edmeyer_able December 27th, 2014 at 23:57

But the constitution gives us the power to limit your rights or are you against the constitution?

          • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:33

Um, please show me where the constitution gives you the power to limit rights… The constitution and Bill of Rights is a list of NEGATIVE rights…meaning it does not limit any rights but those of government. Of course you don’t know that because you are a weak-kneed, lefty stooge…

            • edmeyer_able December 28th, 2014 at 00:35

Maybe you should try reading the constitution before commenting on it, there was once an assault rifle ban in case you were unaware of it.

              • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:36

And? It was unconstitutional then, as well…

                • edmeyer_able December 28th, 2014 at 00:37

If it was why didn’t scotus rule that to be so?

                • edmeyer_able December 28th, 2014 at 00:39

                  Com’on tommy what’s your response?

                  • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:40

I dont know that it ever made it to a scotus ruling… Nor would I trust modern supremes to interpret the constitution in the way it was intended by the framers…

                    • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:41

So slavery should be legal. Women should not be allowed to vote.
Using original intent, you can’t vote either.

                    • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:46

Super sweet strawmen…the constitution was amended and the 3/5 compromise struck…

                    • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:47

You said you want to go back to “original intent”. that’s what the founders agreed on, as well as a “well regulated militia”.

                    • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:48

What the framers intended doesn’t need to be interpreted…they wrote specifically of what the 2nd amendment was about. Take a magical journey and crack a book.

                    • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:53

“Well regulated” is not James earl Ray.
                      Deal with it.

                    • edmeyer_able December 28th, 2014 at 00:42

So a law stood for 10 years w/o the nra challenging tommy…you got nothing.

                    • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:46

Considering at the time, it had the approval of the NRA, yes…I believe it was never challenged.

                    • edmeyer_able December 28th, 2014 at 00:49

tomy you got nothing you only use the 2a to hide behind while denying everyone else the power to do something to protect themselves. you hit someone for using strawmen while erecting your own, go away you wont be answered again at least not by me.

                    • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:51

What I want doesn’t impinge on your rights… What you want impinges on mine. You want the right to disarm people and destroy the 2nd amendment. You retain no such right. People like you enable tyrants and are enemies to liberty. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

                    • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:52

Guns have more rights than schoolchildren.
Guns have more rights than theater goers.
Your right to life? Not so much.

                    • SoTiredOfPolitics December 28th, 2014 at 01:37

Ha! So sorry you don’t get to pick & choose when you want the current scotus to rule on issues.

                  • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:42

My other response is why dont you worry about yourself, instead of worrying about what every one else does… Stop trying to run people’s lives and change their behaviors. If they hurt someone they are guilty…if not leave em alone. Stop being a whiney little busy body who wants to mold everyone into your sensibilities…

                    • edmeyer_able December 28th, 2014 at 00:43

So why are you against the constitution then tommy?

                    • SoTiredOfPolitics December 28th, 2014 at 01:41

“If they hurt someone they are guilty…if not leave em alone.”
                      —–
Right, because charging them with murder SO brings back the dead kids.

                    • Jay Cee December 28th, 2014 at 03:55

Do making more gun laws bring back the dead kids? A background check was done. That gun belonged to Adam Lanzas mother, she went through a background check. She allowed him access to the gun. You want to make a law charging the irresponsible gun owner? Sorry she died. Adam killed himself. So the gun owners that have ar15s must be at fault, they must be banned….

                • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:39

Are flame throwers legal? Machine guns? Missiles?

                  • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:42

Sweet strawmen…but sure…why not…they can be used responsibly. Machine guns are already available to citizens…

                    • edmeyer_able December 28th, 2014 at 00:45

tommy you just spouted 3 strawmen of your own.

            • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:35

I’d also add that the original 10 amendments are not up for rewrite as they were never intended to bestow rights, merely enshrine natural rights of all free people. So no, again, you cannot limit the Bill of Rights.

              • Carla Akins December 28th, 2014 at 00:37

Gee, and that prohibition thing…hmmm exactly what did they do there -oh they amended the Constitution.

                • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:38

Did prohibition amend the Bill of Rights? No…but at least the people of the time had the respect for rule of law enough to know that an amendment was needed to enforce a prohibition…

              • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:38

Tell me what “well regulated” means to you.

                • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:39

Same thing as a well regulated machine…one that is in working order… Keep spouting the same tired talking points…

                  • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:40

                    So we are machines?

                    • Tom Candelaria December 28th, 2014 at 00:47

I’m done responding to your juvenile debating style

                    • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:49

                      Because you can’t.
You know what a well regulated militia is, and it isn’t Cliven Bundy’s gang.

                    • Jay Cee December 28th, 2014 at 03:46

Well regulated is well armed/trained. They didn’t have gun laws back then, at least not as we know them. There were no “regulations” as we think of them. Guns were needed for protection and for gathering food. It was literally a tool just like a wood axe or a hammer. They needed guns for their survival. That’s why saw fit to include it in the bill of rights. And while we do have modern conveniences today that make guns less important (the reason why some people are quick to just give up the right with the old “I’d never have a gun in the house”), that doesn’t mean everyone has to give up the right because some choose not to exercise them.

              • jasperjava December 28th, 2014 at 01:04

How can firearm ownership be a “natural” right, when firearms were only invented a few centuries ago? Human beings have lived for hundreds of thousands of years without guns. There’s nothing “natural” about them.

                • Jay Cee December 28th, 2014 at 03:39

So something has to have been invented in a certain timeframe to have been protected by the bill of rights? I can see that. Didn’t Diane Fienstein say something stupid about how the protections of he first amendment shouldn’t apply to Internet bloggers because the first amendment only protects legitimate real news “media”. I haven’t heard anymore about it, maybe someone convinced her that she was saying something stupid.

    • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:49

Adam Lanza knew all about guns and gun safety. A lifetime NRA member.

      • Guest December 27th, 2014 at 23:52

Really? Where can I verify that claim blobblobbertson?

        • Nobody's Miracle (MagnaDave) December 28th, 2014 at 00:55

      • Independent December 27th, 2014 at 23:59

Imagine my surprise slobberblobbertson, when I did a quick Google search and discovered this HuffPo news article titled, “NRA Confirms Adam Lanza, Nancy Lanza Were Not Members”.

        • edmeyer_able December 28th, 2014 at 00:00

But the constitution gives us the power to limit your rights, or are you against the constitution?

          • tiredoftea December 28th, 2014 at 00:19

Not against, just hasn’t read it.

        • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:01

According to the NRA, no members are murderers. And Adam Lanza was a member, they just won’t admit it.

          • Nobody's Miracle (MagnaDave) December 28th, 2014 at 00:05

so a couple idiot make a big organisation look bad ?

the point is, don’t believe what you see on the internet, because anyone can pass anything to prove any point to anyone.

make your own idea by talking to real people and for the love of god. don’t start the conversation with ”we should ban all guns”
try to start on a neutral ground and talk it out, and then make your idea

      • Thomas Cameron December 27th, 2014 at 23:31

The point is that MDA and their folks are just the other side of the same coin as the extremists who claim the NRA. They both use juvenile methods like blocking people who don’t fill up their echo chamber with the right kind of noise.

Frankly, neither side represents me. I own firearms. I’m a former police officer, passed all kinds of psych exams over the course of many years, so the whole “you gun owners are nut jobs” spew is not applicable. I believe the founders knew what they were doing when they penned the 2nd. Owning firearms is a right.

I think that MDA has some valid concerns, but their methods are, frankly, juvenile. I believe that the NRA does far more good than harm, but that doesn’t mean that I agree 100% with everything they say.

In short, I believe that there is a place for real conversation and maybe even some middle ground. MDA is not interested. They prove it daily by instantly blocking anyone who tries to engage in conversation on their social media page. Apparently, the NRA did the same thing. Juvenile on both sides, and demonstrates – clearly – that neither is really interested in meaningful conversation.

        • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:34

(But keep using them until I sell my stock.)

          • Thomas Cameron December 27th, 2014 at 23:47

You know nothing of police work, Bob. The “well regulated militia” verbiage clearly talked about citizens who could come to the aid of the country, not police, not soldiers. There is ample evidence that is what the founders had in mind. I know it doesn’t fit your view of things, and that you’ll probably stoop to more insults with your next post. You’ve demonstrated that you’re just another extremist. I have no interest in playing with you tonight, sorry.

            • bobrobertson December 27th, 2014 at 23:51

Yes, Benjamin Franklin was a militia member, they kept guns locked up until they went to protect against Indians, and the British, and using flintlocks.
              Original intent and all.

              • meadmkr December 27th, 2014 at 23:56

So should the 1st then not be limited to parchment and quill or are you trying to make a different point?

                • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:00

Franklin ran something like 18 newspapers, so there was this thing called a printing press.
And even the first amendment has limits, like inciting violence, advocating the overthrow of the govt, liable, slander, and other such LIMITS.
No rights are absolute, except the rights of guns according to the NRA.

                  • meadmkr December 28th, 2014 at 00:24

Is not the commission of a crime using a firearm a crime? We already have background checks for new firearm purchases. Look at Washington states new law and the “unintended consequences” where a museum had to divest of historical firearms due to the law.

Let me make this clear, we need better enforcement of EXISTING laws and not just new, unenforceable or knee-jerk legislation however well intended it may be. We need better mental heath care and a system that holds organizations accountable for letting folks slip through the cracks once in the system.

            • Anomaly 100 December 28th, 2014 at 08:23

You’ve demonstrated that you’re just another extremist. I have no interest in playing with you tonight, sorry.

            • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 00:51

Yes, Benjamin Franklin was a militia member, they kept guns locked up until they went to protect against Indians, and the British, and using flintlocks.
              Original intent and all.

              • meadmkr December 28th, 2014 at 00:56

So should the 1st then not be limited to parchment and quill or are you trying to make a different point?

                • bobrobertson December 28th, 2014 at 01:00

Franklin ran something like 18 newspapers, so there was this thing called a printing press.
And even the first amendment has limits, like inciting violence, advocating the overthrow of the govt, liable, slander, and other such LIMITS.
No rights are absolute, except the rights of guns according to the NRA.

                  • meadmkr December 28th, 2014 at 01:24

Is not the commission of a crime using a firearm a crime? We already have background checks for new firearm purchases. Look at Washington states new law and the “unintended consequences” where a museum had to divest of historical firearms due to the law.

Let me make this clear, we need better enforcement of EXISTING laws and not just new, unenforceable or knee-jerk legislation however well intended it may be. We need better mental heath care and a system that holds organizations accountable for letting folks slip through the cracks once in the system.

Thanks! Been trying to get caught up but it is wild tonight. Needless to say, gun topics bring the nuts out of the woodwork.

I had over 100 guns in my house for over 30 years and never shot one of them. No desire to or a reason. Have zero now and it doesn’t bother me at all. I’m not about to start arming myself at at 75!

MrG taught hunter education for over 30 years and I can guarantee you he would have never passed some of the people I have been reading here tonight. They don’t sound responsible to

own a gun. Before the dementia set in, he was getting very upset with the NRA and their compulsion to sell guns to everyone. It was asking for trouble!

When the NRA started it was all about safety. They started gun safety classes and being qualified to be an owner. You respected a gun, handled it safely and kept it locked up to prevent accidents. When you put a gun in your hand, it was only made to kill. It wasn’t an ornament on your belt or over your shoulder.

Somewhere greed and macho took over reality. He would have been the most outspoken person to what has taken place in recent years! The NRA rewarded him with a lifetime membership years ago for his dedication to hunter education. He never tolerated nonsense when it came to gun ownership. Accidental hunting deaths went from 20 -30 per year, down to 0-2 after hunter education was required to get a hunting license. He was 100% behind background checks for ownership. Too many crazy people out there that should never own a gun.

He was a highly educated Aerospace and Electrical Engineer and the top System Analyst at Lockheed – a real rocket scientist.
He had no tolerance for stupidity in space or on the range. Gun ownership was a privilege for those who knew what they were doing.

Ummm… Judging by the land slide elections, it is very evident that the Pro Second Amendment Community is large and strong. And from what I read MDA has encourage calling in false man with a gun reports, like the guy did at the Beavercreek Walmart. Talked about killing anyone with guns. Tried to encourage kids to get thier hands on thier parents guns and bring them to schools. So far anti gun groups have shown the type of hostility that causes one to want to carry a gun. And for those that say the NRA does not matter….again, look at how this last election turned out.

    • SoTiredOfPolitics December 27th, 2014 at 23:10

“From what I read” – which means, “I read on Drudge …” And are you under the completely deluded impression that the election results are some sort of affirmation of the NRA??? Really???

      • Jay Cee December 28th, 2014 at 02:29

It’s more an affirmation of how insignificant the MDA push was to make gun control an issue. Luckily they got the background check law to hang their hat on. And that isn’t significant because most people won’t bother to follow it.

    • Carla Akins December 27th, 2014 at 23:11

No they have not encouraged false reportings, they did not encourage kids to take guns out of their homes (how hard is it to understand a 30 second commercial)

                  You are reaching.

                  • meadmkr December 28th, 2014 at 00:26

Taking a firearm from the parent’s room, out of the house, to school and giving it to a teacher ?
NO checks to see if it is loaded.

How fast would the school be on lockdown and worse yet how many firearms would be aimed that that child as they are taken into custody.

We teach OUR children to NOT handle a firearm except under adult supervision and to observe all of the rules of gun safety. If they were every to find an unsecured gun they go to get an adult and NOT touch it.

Telling a kid to take a potentially loaded firearm to school is the epitome of stupidity and irresponsibility.

                  • Jay Cee December 28th, 2014 at 02:18

No it does nothing of the sort. Firstly it shows a competely irrational fear of guns. And secondly it makes it seem ok to steal a gun and bring it to school. Guns were always locked at my house growing up, but I always knew where the key was. I respected all guns and never even pointed cap guns at other kids, just imaginary bad guys. And when I grew up, we didn’t have school shootings like we do today. I don’t rememebr there was even a consideration of being afraid of guns. Maybe a nuclear bomb, but not a gun. What changed? More abnormal people being allowed to live freely in society while drugged up instead of institutionalized. That’s one thing I see. Crime and gangs have always been around, but gangs usually kill each other which is still mostly the case. Theres also the “me” generation that have a serious entitlement issue. If they can have exactly what they want they have a fit of anger and kill. They were never taught to cope. We had bullies when I grew up, we didn’t kill them. We either fought them back, ignored them as best we could, or took the bullying and shut out mouth. There was no option to kill someone.

                • jasperjava December 28th, 2014 at 00:39

                  • meadmkr December 28th, 2014 at 00:42

Jasper – remember that it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

You seeming know little about firearm safety or law enforcement. Looking at it from a real-world perspective you come up with a different view of the misguided PSA.

                  • IntolerantLiberal December 28th, 2014 at 01:45

Sure this PSA tells kids to commit several felonies. Very irresponsible of the person who made it. Gun Control advocates even said it was a shitty move.

                  • Jay Cee December 28th, 2014 at 02:07

The psa showed a student taking a gun to a school. Am I missing the point? That he committed a felony? That some kid somewhere would watch this and think this was a good idea? The point is that if kids can get hurt mimicking watching tv shows like jackass, they can definitely mimick this.

Not surprised that you didn’t understand the point of this PSA. You don’t strike me as a very thoughtful fellow.

Jasper – remember that it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

You seeming know little about firearm safety or law enforcement. Looking at it from a real-world perspective you come up with a different view of the misguided PSA.

Sure this PSA tells kids to commit several felonies. Very irresponsible of the person who made it. Gun Control advocates even said it was a shitty move.

The psa showed a student taking a gun to a school. Am I missing the point? That he committed a felony? That some kid somewhere would watch this and think this was a good idea? The point is that if kids can get hurt mimicking watching tv shows like jackass, they can definitely mimick this.
