NRA Supporters Launch Vicious, Misogynistic Twitter Attack On Gun Reform Leader
When Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, was blocked by the NRA on Twitter yesterday, she tweeted it. It shall come as a surprise to no one ever that that was met with a slew of vicious misogynistic remarks by NRA supporters.
The mother of 5 frightens them that much. She’s a beautiful and intelligent woman, so naturally, she’s a threat.
It started with this tweet.
Naturally, that innocuous tweet became a platform to attack the Gun Sense advocate by NRA supporters. The hashtag #ImBlockedByShannonWatts started trending on Twitter.
The alleged human responsible for creating that hashtag is none other than Julie Golob, world shooting champion and author of the book “Shooting While Pregnant.” No, really.
So Ms. Watts is retweeting some vulgar responses to her one tweet.
Oh, this is such a winning strategy.
And this tweet by Katie Pavlich gave the onslaught some legs:
NRA supporters, I have some advice for you. If you want to appear to be female-friendly, don’t call a woman a “Bitch”, a “cunt”, “twat’ or tell her she needs to “get back in the kitchen.”
Include “bimbo” to the list of things not to call a woman.
Ms. Watts isn’t too worried about the vicious attack.

We have gun laws in place already that prevent violent criminals, felons, mentally ill, and dishonorably discharged veterans from purchasing guns legally.
EVERYONE takes a federal background check when purchasing a firearm.
Strict gun laws only embolden criminals to prey upon law abiding citizens. Prime example is Chicago.
You people can stay as narrow minded as you want and refuse to see others views regarding this issue and consider ALL the facts.

Why are teachers/faculty even prohibited from possessing non-lethal DEFENSIVE items such as pepper spray, batons or stun guns on school grounds? According to the NEA over 1-in-7 public school K-12 teachers are assaulted by students every year. From discussions with several friends that are teachers this number is way low and under reported. It doesn’t even include assaults by parents or former students.

Why are teachers/faculty even prohibited from possessing non-lethal DEFENSIVE items such as pepper spray, batons or stun guns on school grounds? According to the NEA over 1-in-7 public school K-12 teachers are assaulted by students every year. From discussions with several friends that are teachers this number is way low and under reported. In most cases/incident reports I’ve read you can attribute things to bad parenting and breaking 1 or more of the basic tenants of firearm safety.

I’m not Vic but each of the person(s) that committed those crimes broke multiple laws.
1) The Vegas couple had a history of crime and I believe the guy was a convicted felon.
2) Which NY incident? The guy that killed a person with a hammer and then laid in ambush waiting on first responders to a house fire? Or the person with mental health issues that assassinated 2 law enforcement officers ?
3) The PA guy also broke multiple laws.
If you haven’t guessed by now I’m very pro-law enforcement having been raised in a family of cops/military/FD.

I was banned from MDA’s FB page simply for asking why they didn’t focus on “violence” in our society and not just a subset of the problem they like to label “gun violence”. I was banned in less than 3 minutes after posting this. In fact I’ve been banned from multiple FB sites for asking the same thing. In fact every regional MDA FB page blocked me as well so they are sharing a blacklist pretty quickly.

But let me assure you that MDA and MDA members have threatened firearm owners on multiple occasions as well as committed multiple copyright violations. In fact there is/was several postings stating that if any of them saw a person open carrying they would call the police on them (ie, SWATTING) or file a false report that they were brandishing. Most were ultimately deleted after several days.

I was banned from MDA’s FB page simply for asking why they didn’t focus on “violence” in our society and not just a subset of the problem they like to label “gun violence”. I was banned in less than 3 minutes after posting this. In fact I’ve been banned from multiple FB sites for asking the same thing. In fact every regional MDA FB page blocked me as well so they are sharing a blacklist pretty quickly.

Their focus isn’t street-fighting or bodily assault, it’s gun violence. Not that which “they like to label ‘gun violence'” – it’s actual gun violence. And perhaps they’re tired of dealing with people who call actual gun violence anything other than what it is.

Carla – while I cannot offer proof Watts as most are either retracted once the heat ramps up. But let me assure you that MDA and MDA members have threatened firearm owners on multiple occasions as well as committed multiple copyright violations. In fact there is/was several postings stating that if any of them saw a person open carrying they would call the police on them (ie, SWATTING) or file a false report that they were brandishing. Most were ultimately deleted after several days.

Sorry, if I see someone carrying a gun in public and I don’t know their intent I’m calling 911 as well. It’s not wrong nor illegal to call because you have a safety concern.
I’m certain there are crazies on every side of the fence, but this behavior is not encouraged or endorsed by MDA.
