Marmel: Peaceful Protesters Didn’t Want This; People Who Wanted To Shut Them Down Did

Posted by | December 23, 2014 07:05 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Opinion Top Stories

Sane, rational people of all political persuasions don’t want to see police killed. But it serves a political purpose for those who hate the left.

There are people who have been waiting for this. Not necessarily the death of cops, but that one event that allows them to paint all protesters as anti-police, anti-american.

That one terrible event that allows them to make it more than it is, and take shots at their political opponents.

There is a national frustration that there are two standards: Whether it’s a “Black v. White” standard or a “Conservative v. Liberal” standard…

…if connections can be made to tarnish the underdog, the powerless, or the left… that happens immediately, loudly, by players of the highest level.

And if connections can be made to tarnish the establishment, the entitled or the right well… that’s blown off as conspiracy theory.

Cliven Bundy should be in jail. Had the world gone crazy on him when two people on his ranch peeled off and killed two cops… had there been a national conversation and reaction to domestic terrorism or sovereign citizens and media fueling this kind of hatred by elevating them to “patriot” or “hero,”… I’d be writing differently about this moment.

But no, those same types lined the rooftops in Ferguson, this time not to protect protesters but to protect business. They went from training guns on feds to training guns on protesters. People just decided to point their guns at other people. And again, there were those that made them heroes. But mostly, silence.

The political right consistently demonstrates that people being hurt is the least of their worries in their unending struggle to demonize the American left.

Prominent Republicans could barely disguise their glee at having a shiny brand new talking point for Christmas, that liberals are now responsible for the murder of law enforcement officers.

Hypocrites that they are, they squeal like stuck pigs at any suggestion that their right wing politics were responsible for similar murders in Pittsburgh in 2009 and Las Vegas earlier this year. As a matter of fact, an officer died at Ruby Ridge during the administration of President George H.W. Bush and Randy Weaver became a hero to the right wing.

So pardon my cynicism, but I am profoundly unconvinced that most of these right wing grandstanders give a rat’s a$$ about the police officers who have been killed. As both Randy Weaver and David Koresh demonstrate, killing law enforcement officers is just fine with these people as long as the events can be spun into a talking point in support of the right wing agenda.

Difficult not to be cynical as right wingers conveniently ignore the fact that not too long ago, in right wing circles, murdering law enforcement officers was considered to be the act of a patriot.

Righties, you are fooling no one with your crocodile tears and finger-pointing on recent events this past week. You are accomplishing nothing other than confirming an opinion I share with lots of other people that most of you are amoral, anti-life hypocrites.

Later, after North signed off, Liddy had this exchange with a caller:

Liddy: When the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms thugs come to kill your wife and children, to try to disarm you and they open fire on you. When they come at the point of a gun, force and violence, when you’re going to defend yourself, use that Gerand [M-1 rifle]. That thing is 30-06, and it’ll take ’em right out.

Caller: And yes, aim for the head.

      Liddy: Absolutely.

People like Liddy have been waiting for the day something like this would happen. Liddy is giddy with the prospect of dead cops. Now all he has to do is blame the left.

I thought about this earlier too. Not to be a conspiracist but, the level of corruption and hatred the right has consistently shown, the anti-government/ anti-police vitriol we have all seen is staggering. It’s not out of the realm of reason to think that some rwnj could be behind this and if not behind it, very supportive of it.

I don’t think you’re too far off the mark… Remember when Scott walker was talking about sending in some “trouble makers” to make Protesters look bad. This sort of thing has been happening for some time now.
It is NOT beneath them to…. influence/mislead peoples perception… I’ve already noticed the demonizing of protesters in the news.
The man who committed the heinous crime of killing the Cops, gave a HUGE gift to the right…. Not to mention the ‘entertainment’ outlet (fox) making the protesters sound like they are saying “Kill the Cops” … The accusation against Mayor De blasio of supporting the hate chants, when he was speaking of an entirely different protest.
I’m afraid they might win the “heated rhetoric” debate.
They a celebrating in some sick way, that this happened… hopefully they will be exposed for the freaks they are in all of this..

Congrats, morons. You have destroyed any further discussion about the police and racism and sexism with your nonsense. You have tainted ‘social justice’ forever. If I see a cop beating the hell out of a kid in a wheelchair – I’m going to ignore if after all this.

    • Foundryman December 23rd, 2014 at 18:48

The only morons who have tainted ‘social justice’ forever are the ones who cheer or say he had it coming everytime an unarmed kid is gunned down by the police.

Let’s get real, you’re not going to ignore it, you’re going to continue to ignore it.
