High School Counselor On #ICantBreathe Protesters: ‘I will Personally SHOOT Every one Of Them’

Posted by | December 8, 2014 18:45 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

The Central Bucks School District in Pennsylvania is investigating a guidance counselor’s post in which she threatened to shoot #ICantBreathe protesters who were demonstrating Sunday outside Lincoln Financial Field.

The counselor has since been placed on leave, district officials said, according to NBC Philadelphia.

The Facebook message posted by MaryKate Blankenburg read, “If my child cannot get to the Eagles game due to protesters, I will personally SHOOT every one of them. You’ve been warned idiots!!”

She is an 11th grade guidance counselor at Central Bucks West High School.

The threat was focused on demonstrates outside the Philadelphia Eagles game as they protested against racism in the wake of the police-involved deaths of black men such as Michael Brown and Eric Garner.

The Facebook post has been deleted, but it has been circulated on social media, sparking outrage.

In a statement Monday morning, Central Bucks School District Superintendent David Weitzel said the district responded with urgency after seeing the “threatening, violent” message allegedly written by Blankenburg, according to Patch.com.

“We will take appropriate action once we learn all of the facts. I also notified the District Attorney’s Office on Sunday and we are working with them as they investigate this incident,” he said.

“The content of the post does not in any way reflect the beliefs or values of the Central Bucks School District,” Weitzel said.

She has reportedly been suspended with pay.

Once you post something on social media, it is never really “deleted.”

She seems nice. I wonder what career advice she’s giving her students?
“Apply to Liberty University, Bob Jones (aptly: BJU) & Patrick Henry College and you’ll have all you bases covered…”

She’ll be praying for a few hours before a useless apology.

If she’s fired, I’m sure she won’t be out of work for very long. All she has to do is move to Tx or Ok they’ll be glad to have someone of her “caliber” on staff.

    • AAASuperPatriot December 8th, 2014 at 20:23

Or as a Fox News pundit.

      • Nicholas Russell Harris December 9th, 2014 at 09:45

        That seems much more likely

Anyone who works with teenagers should be allowed the occasional homicidal rant. ;-)

As long as she doesn’t act on it!

I agree Carol, but I believe a person can learn what empathy is but they can’t learn how to be empathetic. I don’t believe this person can have concern for anyone they deem “less than”. To openly admit you could kill another human simply because how they feel about a certain topic shows she is a mentally and emotionally crippled human.

    • DWS December 8th, 2014 at 23:35

Suzanne McFly, and to do it over/for something is ridiculously inconsequential as a football game no less. Pretty sad human being.

“You know the rules…’Zero Tolerance’ …we can’t afford to take any chances when it comes to violence in our schools.”
Say it to this person, then fire her.
Maybe she can get a job counseling kids who were expelled under that same policy…

As a liberal, I honestly don’t know what to think about this.

Clearly, she was not serious. But I don’t like killing talk — even in jest.

She seems like a jerk — but do we fire people for being jerks?

    • Rhonda Warmack Houston December 9th, 2014 at 10:28

AAA SuperPatriot, This has nothing to do with being a liberal. This has to do with thinking about how one is going to come across when the larger community hears what you say and often, than most, what one says one is evaluated by the masses. I won’t want my kids to go to that school where she is considered a guidance counselor.

    • Baldrz1 December 10th, 2014 at 02:39

Whether you take her threat literally or not, she’s talking murder and calling a group of strangers idiots on a public forum. It’s not as if she stocks shelves or flips burgers for a living; a counselor is supposed to have much better judgment than that. Besides, you can bet if a student said something like that at school, he/she would be expelled.

    • michele in pa December 10th, 2014 at 10:31

When her job is a counselor of children??? I think that answer is a very OBVIOUS YES! I know I wouldn’t want my children anywhere near this women, if troubled & seeking sensible help.

  19. burqa December 8th, 2014 at 22:07

It sure was a stupid thing to say. One hopes it was just an unthinking outburst and not an actual threat.
Some call for her job, I’m not so sure about that. I’d want to see a pattern of such violent posts or behavior. I’d want to know if this was a violent person or whether it was just a stupid comment made under stress.

    • tracey marie December 8th, 2014 at 22:30

      what stress?

      • burqa December 9th, 2014 at 00:56

I don’t know. Could be anything.
It’s not unusual for people to post extreme thoughts they don’t really mean. Above, I referred to a couple people here who advocated Pat Robertson be tortured. I don’t think they should lose their jobs for those posts.
If she has a history of violence and can be shown to be a dangerous person, that’s one thing.
But if she was just exaggerating to make the point that she was pissed off, it’s another.
Can you honestly say you never posted or said something that was over the top that you regretted later? Wouldn’t you hope that others did not judge that one thing as being representative of the sort of person you are?

        • R J December 9th, 2014 at 03:11

100% agree with everything said, the problem is these people think that they can get away with talking like their heroes on faux news and never have to pay the consequences for the words or actions,

        • rg9rts December 9th, 2014 at 07:45

Anything you post you had better be prepared to see on the front page of your local paper… Adults should realize this more so than students

          • Nicholas Russell Harris December 9th, 2014 at 09:43

Amen to that brother! That and they should be prepared to own up to their shite instead of passing it off as some sort of minor thing. Own up to it then say sorry without casting blame.

            • rg9rts December 9th, 2014 at 13:54

        • michele in pa December 10th, 2014 at 09:30

Yes, I can say I never posted anything threatening or violent towards others….and I am NOT A COUNSELOR FOR CHILDREN. I certainly would not want anyone with a lack of control over her anger, to counsel my child, especially when her lack of control includes threats with guns.
she may want to look into a job as a prison guard or a cop. She seems to have the right demeanor for both positions.
