Police: Doctor Choked, Forced Woman To Swallow Abortion Pill
A New York doctor choked a woman and forced her to swallow a pill that could cause an abortion, after she told him she was pregnant, according to police.
44-year-old Dr. Thomas Pfeiffer, a licensed anesthesiologist from Red Hook, had choked the woman and forced her to swallow a pill that could cause an abortion after she told him a home pregnancy test had come out positive, according to authoriites.
Pfeiffer was charged with strangulation, assault and abortion in the second degree, or committing an “abortional act,” according to the AP.
Pfeiffer was taken into custody and is being held on $50,000 cash bail.
The woman was treated at a local hospital and released.
There were no details on her relationship with Pfeiffer.
This is totally the opposite of “pro-choice.”

If she was choked… Wouldn’t it make it impossible for her to swallow the pill? I don’t think people understand how choking works. If you’re choked, it restricts your throat.. I’ve been choked once and I couldn’t even get water down. Let alone a pill.
John_St_John December 6th, 2014 at 15:27
Stop trying to defend the indefensible. Once you are out cold anything can be shoved down your throat. Including a 12″ Bowie Knife.

Dwendt44 December 7th, 2014 at 00:30
It may depend on the exact method he used. Choking could be holding her nose while shoving a pill down or to the back of her throat.
Still, even with RE486, isn’t there more that one pill involved?

OldLefty December 6th, 2014 at 21:45
If it’s inside of her body… Yes.
Aielyn December 6th, 2014 at 22:44
A car is not the same thing as a foetus. But let me try to give you a more complete analogy with cars.
You are dating this girl. You buy a car together – but the car is a clunker, and is not at all roadworthy. She spends the next six months rebuilding the car, and after those six months it’s much closer to being a complete car. She spends her own money in the rebuilding process, and it’s all her own physical work. The only impact it has had on your life is that you spend a little bit less time with her. There are now two demonstrative possibilities:
1. Suddenly, the two of you break up, and you decide that you want to sell the car. She tells you that, no, that’s not acceptable, and keeps working on the car. Given that, by this point, she definitely put a lot more money and work into the car than you, her choice wins, and if you’re really so upset, you can have her buy out your paltry contribution. But it’s her choice.
2. Suddenly, the two of you break up, and she decides that she no longer wants this car that you had bought together. She decides she wants to scrap the car entirely; sure, it would waste some of her money, and her time and effort would be for naught, but she felt it would be worth it, anyway, for the feeling of closure. While you have the opportunity to try to convince her otherwise, she effectively owns the car because of the time, money, and work she put into it, and thus at the end of the day it’s her choice again. And once more, if you’re really so upset with the situation, you could probably have her buy out your paltry contribution.
Obviously, the buy out part isn’t part of the analogy, since she can’t really return your contribution to the baby. But the rest is a moderately-reasonable analogy. The point is, she’s contributing a hell of a lot more to the situation than you are, and thus she has majority rule on the decision. It is NOT a situation in which both parents contribute equally – that comes later, if and when the child is born.
American Taxman December 7th, 2014 at 21:57
Aielyn that was a really good reply… no jest, no pun, you took my simple analogy and ran with it.
You went deeper than I did and you did it well.
I am a male, not by choosing, it is just so. A female is in the same state. Neither of us choose this, it is just So. This understood by both parties… girls have babies/ boys don’t. It is just So. Nobody can change this.
My only point: If a man and a women have consensual intercourse. There must be a consensus or lack there of by the male for an abortion to occur.
So, a one night stand results in a pregnancy…abortion no issue.
A 6 month relationship results in a pregnancy, the father should be able to object and bring the baby to term. The mother can default and would have no responsibilities or obligations after birth… it would be the fathers child. She let the father enter her and deposit his DNA, that fetus is his too. He nor she choose who would carry it. It is just So. This natural contract was known by both parties before they copulated.
Finally: Every pregnancy has at least three individuals (minus twins). Some would argue this point… that is fine. My response would be to wait. I will be right before a year has passed, Every Time. One of these individuals ALWAYS want to live. IT SHOULD TAKE A TWO THIRDS MAJORITY TO OVERRULE the fetus. If the mother wishes to opt out she may, after the birth. It is only one third of her property.
Aielyn December 8th, 2014 at 06:14
The issue at hand is that, for a woman to carry the baby from the 6 month point to birth means a significant impact upon her life. For a man, there is no further inconvenience. For a woman, it’s basically a period in which she cannot work (at least, not in most cases), in which she can expect significant discomfort, and which finishes with a rather painful experience.
Mind you, I do have a problem with late term abortions. But the point is, you can’t argue it from the perspective of the father’s opinion, because the father doesn’t have any notable “skin” in the game – a bit of genetic material is not a sufficient contribution to compare against what the woman goes through. The situation is different after birth, where the father may be as important, or even more important in some cases.
You mention the “fetus” and its opinion. The thing is, a foetus doesn’t really have an opinion. And so, society ends up having to make a decision – at what point can you consider it to have reached the point that abortion is inappropriate (beyond exceptional circumstances)? It has to fundamentally be the woman’s choice beyond that restriction, as I’ve explained above. And yet, that restriction is the hardest part to decide upon.
My personal position is that the only non-arbitrary choice of where to draw the line is brain activity – if there is no brain activity, then for all intents and purposes, the foetus is nothing more than a part of the woman’s body, no different from the heart, the hand, or the appendix. After that point, the foetus is theoretically capable of experiencing pain. This point happens roughly at Week 8, which places it two menstrual cycles after conception, and thus well beyond the point at which the vast majority of women will discover the pregnancy. An alternative version establishes that mere brain activity is not enough – there needs to also be a functional nervous system. So some suggest a variant that requires reflex reaction from the foetus – this happens around Weeks 14-16 (basically, 3-4 months). These two points can be considered to be distinct events that could be described as the “start of life”, as distinct from a cancer or a regular part of the woman’s body.
In short, the woman must get priority until the point at which we can, in a secular manner, establish the unborn as “living”. And that point is certainly up for debate… but the man’s opinion simply cannot factor in, beyond their ability to convince the woman, prior to this key point in time.

“The issue at hand is that, for a woman to carry the baby from the 6 month point to birth means a significant impact upon her life. For a man, there is no further inconvenience.”~Aielyn
Ok, flip the scenario. The mother wants the baby and the father does not…. that would equal 18 years of impact on the father @$400 dollars a month that’s over $57,000.
The fetal mortality rate for 2006, in the US was about 0.6%. If left unhindered and allowed 40 weeks, there would be three individuals in almost every pregnancy scenario. There is no “opinion” the zygote chooses to live, every time.
I am not strongly pro or anti abortion. My issue is that the female currently has total control because she is hosting. She can abort or bring the the baby to term without any input from the other party….that is an affront. We cannot choose who hosts, no more than we can choose how fast we fall.
