Sheriff Joe Arpaio May Face Contempt-Of-Court Proceedings

Still, a racial profiling expert said he wouldn’t expect the judge to jail Arpaio and instead would probably gradually ramp up the severity of his punishments if the sheriff continued to defy the judge.
“I don’t think that’s very likely, simply because he is an elected official,” David A. Harris, a University of Pittsburgh law professor who studies racial profiling, said of the possibility of jail time.
U.S. District Judge Murray Snow has grown frustrated over what he said were inadequate internal investigations into wrongdoing by Arpaio’s immigrant smuggling squad, including whether a deputy was shaking down immigrants who were in the country illegally. In addition, the judge is upset over a botched effort by the sheriff’s office to recover videos of traffic stops that were withheld in the profiling case.
Eighteen months ago, the judge found the sheriff’s office had systematically singled out Latinos in regular traffic and special immigration patrols. Snow is requiring Arpaio’s officers to video-record traffic stops, collect data on stops and undergo training to ensure they are making constitutional stops.

I’m certain it’s well in excess of $20 million over his 22+ year reign of terror. He brags about the $$ they take in legally but the birther investigation doesn’t have to account for their spending. Where’s that money going since obviously they have done nothing except enjoy a long vacation in Hawaii and use all the debunked nonsense that was brought as alleged proof by the other birther nutjobs before them.

That’s because he has cost the taxpayers of Maricopa County in excess of $50M due to lawsuits filed against him and his department. Most of them have been due to his excessive use of force and abuse of power. Yet this 82 year old dementia-riddled nutjob still plans to run again in 2016 at the ripe old age of 84! He had been planning on a run for Governor but I think someone on his campaign staff finally convinced him that his past had finally caught up to him, especially with Judge Snow appointing a monitor for his department and Arpaio publicly announcing that he wouldn’t cooperate. He’s now going to face the results of his childish behavior but still expects taxpayers to pay for his attorney despite having millions from his campaign. Let him pay his own damn attorney fees!
