Obama To Hold Meetings Monday On Ferguson

President Obama will discuss the situation in Ferguson, Missouri, on Monday with his Cabinet, civil rights leaders, law enforcement officials and others.
The Associated Press reports:
The White House says Obama’s Cabinet meeting will focus on his administration’s review of federal programs that provide military-style equipment to law enforcement agencies.
The White House says the president will also meet with young civil rights leaders to discuss the challenges posed by “mistrust between law enforcement and communities of color.” He’ll then meet with government and law enforcement officials, as well as other community leaders, to discuss how to strengthen neighborhoods.
Protests have continued in Ferguson, but have been more muted than the violence sparked last week by a grand jury’s decision not to indict a police officer in the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown.
On Sunday, Massachusetts Gov. Deal Patrick said that President Obama would like to visit Ferguson, but probably won’t because of the ongoing federal investigation into the killing of an unarmed teenager.
“I think the reason it’s a quandary is because the federal government is investigating right now,” Patrick said on NBC’s Meet The Press. “And you don’t want to appear to influence that investigation.”
The militarization of America’s police departments certainly needs addressing. There is a strong distrust with law enforcement due to racial profiling and the race disparity on police forces, such as in Ferguson, a predominately black town.

Well, I would agree it’s about time for the adults to get involved in this situation.
Hopeful for federal grand jury to straighten out this mess of lies, bigotry and deception.

There is an Everest sized mountain to climb when it comes to human rights in America. This may be a possible beginning to change the way police handle situations. The shoot first and ask questions later mentality of law enforcement has got to stop or there will be no progress in ending unnecessary and tragic police involved shootings and resulting deaths. Trust of the police will continue to erode to a boiling point if things don’t change and there is no guarantee that peaceful protests won’t turn violent. We as a people have to demand change and it starts at the top (Obama). We all need to support him!

Now comes A.G. Holder Vs Darren Wilson, Ferguson P.D. et al. The DOJ has successfully filed suit against 20 PD’s for having ‘patterns of racism.’ Similar to Wilson’s former Klan infested P.D. that was disbanded.

I would also like to know what happened to 17 year old black teenager Kendrick Johnson in Georgia, who was found rolled up in a wrestling mat with his organs missing. That might be worth investigating, considering it was ruled “accidental.”

Well, where do we go from here? Demilitarize police? If so, to what extent? Will the drug gangs do likewise? That’s not likely, considering how deeply rooted the “illegal” drug market is in communities like Ferguson MO. I am in favor of demilitarization yet don’t see how it could ever work in this Drug War environment.
