Manhunt Underway After West Virginia Man Allegedly Shoots 4 Dead In 3 Shootings
A manhunt is underway for a West Virginia man who allegedly shot four people dead in three shootings.
Police identified the shooter as Jody Lee Hunt, 39, of Westover. He’s described as a white male, 5’9″ tall, weighing 165 pounds with green eyes.
Police said the victims appear to have been targeted, police said.
WAJR reports that police believe Hunt gunned down the four people in cold blood.
A Facebook post made by Hunt on Monday morning suggested that he was having relationship problems with a woman.
“I poured out my heart to her only to be maniupulated as to what I could give her,” he wrote. [sic]
“Life is short. It’s not all games. Don’t play a game with ones heart.”
Hunt went on to write: “My actions were not right nor were the actions of those who tried to tear me down and take from me. This was not the plan but a struggle to see that those who strives to hurt me received their fair pay of hurt like I received.”
“You will not hurt me any more. You will not destroy my soul and heart as you tried so hard to do.”
Hunt’s victims include: Doug Brady, of Westover; Sharon Kay Berkshire, 39, of Westover; and Michael David Frum, 28, of Maidsville. The fourth victim has not been identified.
Brady was gunned down at his business, Doug’s Towing in Westover, Monday morning. Police found Berkshire and Frum at Sunset Beach in the Cheat Lake area, according to WAJR.
According to Monongalia County Circuit Court records, Berkshire filed a domestic violence case against Hunt last month. Court records also indicated there were no protective orders currently in place for Berkshire, Fox News reports.
Schools were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.
Update:
Hunt was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after an hours-long manhunt, police said.
